Years after Princess Twilight Sparkle's coronation, a young Flurry Heart longs for adventure and to learn friendship lessons like her aunt. Her royal life in the Crystal Empire has become boring and predictable, so Shining Armor and Cadance decide to allow her to spend some time in Ponyville. After meeting up with Spike and getting settled in, a new villain appears, seeking to cause terror to all of Equestria. With little time to think and the new Tree of Harmony coming under threat, Flurry must find a way to stop this rampaging red beast.

A young unicorn named Nightwatch is venturing out in the forest one day when he finds a mysterious egg. His life changes instantly when the egg hatches and reveals a baby female dragon that quickly imprints on him. He takes it back to his parents and convinces them to adopt the dragon which he names Buttercream. Nighty and Butter grow up as brother and sister, having many adventures and getting into all sorts of shenanigans. Their first adventure starts on the night of the return of Nightmare Moon, where they encounter a cult of fanatical bat ponies, a dark society of Tambelonian sorcerers, Princess Luna herself, and a deadly ancient robot on the loose. This sets the stage for a whole slew of adventures the sibling duo go through while a certain purple unicorn and her friends have their experiences on the side.

Rainbow Dash's mother is Daring Do. And she's inconveniently off "researching" her next book.

Now, Rainbow Dash has to go on a journey. A journey of self-discovery. A journey of a thousand unanswered questions.

A journey to find...her biomom.

Oh, and there's an ancient alicorn tomb and a closely guarded secret that'll change the history of Equestria forever, but that's just another day in the life of Daring Do.

In a remote corner of the Solana Galaxy lies a backwater planet called Veldin. Nothing important ever happens there. Nothing exciting, either. Ratchet, a Lombax with no idea of his origins, is beginning to grow bored with his life, and dreams of excitement. He wishes on a falling star for some excitement to find its way into his life.

The falling star answers by crashing into his home in the form of a basket carrying a tiny creature with a horn, a pair of wings, and four hooves. The name on the basket reads "Twilight Sparkle".
