It's been one month since Anon-A-Miss' reign of terror through the school. One month since the school was divided. One month since Sunset was framed and persecuted by her fellow students. One month since the CMC admitted their involvement, and were punished.

Sunset should be thrilled, after all her name was cleared and everyone's been bending over backwards to make it up to her. This should be something that brings the entire school together and make her friendships stronger.
But it hasn't.

Sunset feels more alone than ever now. Having lost all trust for the girls assigned to teach her and believing her past will always haunt her, no matter how much she tries to show she's changed.

With the Friendship Games coming up, can CHS band together and defeat Crystal Prep? Will Sunset be able to forgive her fellow students and friends? How is the CMC going to make up for their mistake?

Many years ago, Princess Celestia granted Discord a boon for helping rescue Sunset Shimmer when she was trapped between worlds. He was given the power to declare one day a year as Discord Day. A day in which the draconequus was allowed to pull out all the stops as long as no creature came to harm in the process.

For personal reasons Discord ceased holding the even for decades and the concept fell into obscurity, all but forgotten.

Nearly a year has passed since the attacks by the Athanatoi and the tragic events that followed. Sunset Shimmer, now a coronated princess and diarch to the Equestrian Thrones has fallen into her role for the most part and begun to find her groove as well as further explore her relationship with her fellow diarch, Princess Twilight Sparkle.

Tempers will be tested, shenanigans will ensue, surprises, twists, and more as Discord Day is reborn!

Quick note: This story takes place in an alternate reality where Sunset never left Equestria for power, instead, she left it because she felt everypony was turning against her. She also does this at a later point in time from the original Equestria Girls movie, and she is a little older than she was in said movie.

This story is a sequel to Phoenix-born rising - the ascension of Sunset Shimmer [1st ed.]

The rite of the phoenix is one of the most celebrated moments among the sun-gazers of Solaria. For with the hatching of a new phoenix, comes the ascension of a new phoenix-born: a mortal chosen by the phoenix to be its new life partner and guardian. To one young orphan girl named Sunset Shimmer, she could only dream of witnessing the ascent of one of Celestia's chosen. As the day approaches, she learns that she will be able to, as she has been selected by the crown as one of the girls to serve at the event.
