Quiver Quill is a lonesome stallion with a dream of being a writer, one that has been squashed by circumstance and all but smothered as he works a job that depresses him simply to make ends meet. A chance meeting with a princess, however, may help him to lift his spirits, and perhaps make some friends.

A very sweet story... Nicely done!

Thank you! I'm just hoping that with future stories, Quiver Quill doesn't come across as some sort of Gary Stu. He's got some growing to do.

there was hardly a second after twilight was introduced that a smile wasn't on my face. nicely done.

5788181 Thanks. I was hoping folks would feel something like that.

Faved. Upvoted. NEXT STORY.

6143191 Appreciated. More coming soon.

Considering how busy you've been since writing this (7 stories since November, including one as long as a short novel? Impressive) I doubt I need to point this out, since you've likely realized it on your own, but try not to rely so much on exposition. Almost this whole story is told through exposition, and although sometimes that's necessary, it's also the least interesting way to tell a story. Having said that I was surprised at how quickly time passed as I was reading this, a testament to it being very well written.

Looking forward to reading more, but I read slow and don't have much time these days, so don't be surprised if it takes awhile before I get to it :twilightsheepish:

6373762 Well, don't be too impressed. This was my very first story, and I actually wrote it back in the summer of 2013. Didn't actually post it here until November. My muse has just been focused on ponies for a while, and the focus hasn't really left me. You're right, however, about the exposition stuff. I've moved away from it as best I can with my later works, or at least done it in slightly more interesting ways.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it, however, and I hope that you find time for the rest of my works.

I can't help but wonder, Echo - Is Quiver autobiographical of you in any way?

8021162 His life is inspired by mine in a number of respects, yes, but I will be taking liberties later on.

Holy exposition, Batman.

This definitely reads like a first story, and a lot of the advice I could give has already been said and applied to your future stories.

But man. Holy exposition, Batman :trollestia:

It was still a decent enough read in spite of that

It was an experiment. It didn't work. I didn't do it again.

Imagine being praised by heroes.

It's a big boost of confidence, that's for sure.

Can’t disagree with that.

Wow, going from those 2 Sunset pieces to this is quite the drastic change, but reading in the comments that this was your first story really shows how much you improved in your writing.

First MLP story, at any rate. And this was more experimental than anything else. Learned a lot, though.
