As an immortal alicorn princess, Twilight Sparkle has lived for a long time. However, her friends were mortal ponies, and they eventually all died. A hundred years after they have all passed on, Twilight can only think about them, and how much they meant to her. Now that they are nothing but memories, how can she carry on?

The answers she seeks may come from a most unexpected source: another alicorn, one who once threatened to cover Equestria in eternal darkness, but whom Twilight considers a daughter. With her help, Twilight might just find that she is truly not alone.

This story takes place after the events of Magical Mystery Cure and Past Sins, which was written by Pen Stroke. Nyx and Past Sins belong to Pen Stroke.

The world is aflame and broken. In the Crystal Empire, Rarity tries to ensure her part of the world is less broken than the world outside it, starting with finally taking proper care of the little filly that's supposed to rule it one day. But between the Empress Nightmare Moon's plans for Equus, the damage of Sombra's short but brutal second reign, the danger of the Changeling Hegemony on the western border, and her own personal problems, it's going to be a lot of things, but not easy.

991 years. That's how long it's been since Nightmare Moon took over Luna and was banished. Every single year, Celestia has tried and failed to abate her pain over the incident. To make things short, two years ago, I was transported from Earth to Equus. The first contact was less than preferable but some of the ponies have gotten use to me, though some are still on the edge. Tonight is something they call Summer Sun Celebration. The longest day on Equus.

Things aren’t right. Ever since the defeat of Nightmare Moon, Twilight Sparkle has been having visions of a life that is not hers. Or… that’s what she thinks. Secrets long buried are about to bite back, truths come to the light and a conspiracy unravels. After all, how is Twilight to accept that her real parents are ponies that history says are threats to the land.

Twilight didn't expect she would get to know anypony in Ponyville, let alone travel with them through one of the most dangerous forests in Equestria to fight a supercharged alicorn in an abandoned castle.

What she REALLY didn't expect was that she wasn't going to be the one fighting.

A side-story to Nightmares Are Tragic, hence takes place at the same time as The Elements of Harmony (the Season 1 two-part opener). Now has its own side-story, about Piercing Gaze, A Long Night at the Hippodrome

There is one flashback in which it is mentioned that there has been sex between two characters. There is also some violence.
