Celestia desperately wants to fix things between Chrysalis and herself, but the changeling queen is having none of it. Twilight is there to help as well, because of course she is.

Chrysalis never thought Starlight Glimmer would offer to be her friend, so she accepts Starlight Glimmer's friendship and gains a new form of Changeling. Chrysalis is sorry for her actions, but the Changelings tell Chrysalis that she was only doing her duty as mother and queen of the changelings. Chrysalis decides she will live in Ponyville. Thorax accepts Chrysalis's decision, although he still thinks he isn't ready to be king of the Changelings.

Arriving in Ponyville, Chrysalis wonders with who she should live. Twilight offers Chrysalis to spend a day with each of her friends and with her, and who Chrysalis likes to spend time with, she could live with that pony. But over time, the friendship between Chrysalis and Twilight Sparkle may become something more.

Twilight Sparkle and her friends are going to stop Nightmare Moon. They face her and the Mare of the Night explains to Twilight many things previously unknown to her about her mentor and friends. Why does she keep sending them? Why do her friends follow her around? After the encounter, Twilight's view on the Solar princess and her friends change. For the worse.

Twilight did pass her exam, but her magic did not flare up. Hatching a dragon egg was more of an optional test the parents could agree too. Because her magic never flared, Celestia’s attention was not caught by her. Twilight was left to enter the best academy in the land, but not as the personal student of Princess Celestia.
Only a few months later Twilight sees how alone she is in it, surrounded by unfriendly mares and stallions who were at least three years older than her, she begins to struggle in her studies. Shining is no longer there to help, and neither are her parents. She is convinced she is in this alone.
When one night a mare visits Twilights in her dreams. Nightmare Moon offers to teach her, and help her study, for one thing in return. Travel to the the abandoned castle of the two pony sisters by the thousandth sun celebration.

Sunset and Sonata have overcome every obstacle together in their long months of love. Sonata's talent for painting has led to a huge career break, and the promise of stability and happiness for the foreseeable future. But what happens when, during this important time, the most unexpected person possible should show up to ruin everything?

Discord, Equestria's resident spirit of chaos, has appeared seemingly only to give the young lovers an ominous message coinciding with a mysterious journal entry from Twilight Sparkle. Sensing trouble, Sunset Shimmer is determined to help her friend no matter the cost. At an urging from Discord, she and Sonata have decided to return to Equestria, but find a world that neither of them recognise.

Sunset Shimmer will extend a hand in friendship, which starts an adventure that will create far-reaching consequences for her friends on both sides of the mirror. This story begins two or three days after the conclusion of Equestria Girls 2: Rainbow Rocks.
