With luck, I'll be posting Chapter Twenty-Five of Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer in a few short hours. I hope that you can set aside some time this weekend to check it out.

Okay, opening salvo: Please don't spoil Episode 100 for me! Daughter of ConningOfficer and I have a date tomorrow morning to check it out on the DVR. As I'm about to show you, we had more pressing engagements today. As just about everyone knows, my daughter's random YouTube clicking opened the door to the fandom for me, and Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer started as my attempt to explain to her the significance of Rainbow Rocks' ending. Here she is making her own
Good evening, everyone! I'm sorry that I have been delinquent in responding to blog comments, but I truly appreciate your suggestions for what sort of art I should have commissioned. I'm doing my final read-through of Chapter Twenty-Four. I should be ready to post the latest update to Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer in about 90 minutes, but I wanted to share
Good evening, everyone! I am taking a break from the final read-through of Chapter Twenty-Three of Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer to pose an important question to you. Several of you have asked me why there isn't fan art of the story, and I can't answer that question to anyone's satisfaction (least of all my own). Being the take-charge individual that I can be on (rare) occasion, I decided to save up a little bit and I am going to splurge on some commissioned art.
Ladies and gentlemen, fillies and gentlecolts...
Recognizing the shortcomings of being, well, male, I have encountered a snag in a minor point of the draft of Chapter Twenty of Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer. Perhaps you could help settle a friendly disagreement between me and my editor.
Here are my two questions:
1. What would you call the garment that Sunset Shimmer is wearing?
2. How would you describe the color of both the top and the bottom?
Good news! Despite a flood of real-life intrusions and other obligations, it appears that I'm on track (pending editor and pre-reader approval, of course) to release the next update to Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer this weekend.
Before a certain someone or two asks, I'll set up the dropbox link tonight after the Empress of Editors (yes, I went there, my friend) takes an initial look.
I was thinking, which is a dangerous pastime, and came to the conclusion that Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer is about to finish its second act. Once that's done, the third act will rush headlong towards the story's climax. Yes, it will take several chapters and an epilogue to finish the story, but getting to this point has caused me to think about the other stories that could be written in this world. Here are some ideas, and I'd like to hear what you think about their relative merits.
Chapter 15 is moving more slowly than I would like, despite two caffeine-fueled writing binges over the weekend. There is one scene in particular that I absolutely must get right. Thankfully, I have wonderfully talented friends to help me. I'm still hopeful that I am able to finish writing and earn IsabellaAmoreSirenix's approval during the next week, but it will all depend on a less insane week in real life.
So, two weekends ago, instead of spending the wee hours of the weekend making progress on Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer, I was hosting relatives. My relatives (and especially Mrs. ConningOfficer) wouldn't have been very sympathetic to my hiding in my man-cave for any period of time.
Silly me, I thought that the holidays would be a time where I could make significant headway on Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer and manage to complete at least two or three chapters. Attempting to juggle work, house guests, family obligations and serving a brief period as Santa Claus destroyed that illusion rather quickly. That said, I am glad that I was able to publish Chapter 12 and ecstatic that it has been received positively. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Happy Holidays to all! I hope that all of your are enjoying the start of December along with all of the good things that come with celebrations this time of year. I know that I have been very busy spending time with my family, enjoying workplace parties, and trying to get ahead of matters in the office so I can take a few days off at the end of the year. This blog post is intended to provide insight into three topics:
I know it's been a couple of weeks since my last entry. Since I'm between domestic tasks for Thanksgiving, it seemed like a good time to write a blog post, since I know there's no possible way I'll be able to make headway on the next chapter of Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer until the food is eaten, dishes cleaned and Daughter of ConningOfficer is asleep. I hope that you all are enjoying the holiday (provided
I will begin on a very serious note.
1,000 views of Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer. Wow. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
I'm not going to dive too deeply into clichés with this post and forgive the seriousness.
Ladies and Gentleman, Fillies and Gentlecolts, Foals of all ages... it really stinks to come back to work after a short vacation and be greeted by this sort of inbox, replete with folders, binders, decisions, and reviews.... and the meetings. Oh, please, not the meetings!
Wow - what a crazy day. I had to be responsible at work, but I found myself checking my phone at inappropriate times to check on the reception for the prologue to Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer. I am floored, gratified, and humbled by the positive comments and numerous favorites. The constructive and critical comments are very helpful, though I would like to know what turned people off to the point where I got
