Thinking of my friends and neighbors to the north · 12:27am Oct 24th, 2014
I'm not going to dive too deeply into clichés with this post and forgive the seriousness.
I'll use Twilight's image to illustrate that I've always enjoyed the professional partnerships and friendships I have with Canadians - whether I meet them on the streets of Toronto, aboard ship in Sault Ste. Marie, or even at a science station in Antarctica. Be strong and be brave following the awful events in Ottawa, but most of all, don't let what happened yesterday change the unique character that has caused me to have such affection for your great nation.
And, to tie into yet-unwritten chapters of Sunset Shimmer: Element Bearer, heroes come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. Kevin Vickers, the 58-year-old sergeant-at-arms of Canada's House of Commons was credited with gunning down an armed man who'd stormed in minutes after killing a Canadian soldier standing guard at a nearby veterans memorial. He was on his way to commit more murder, and was stopped by Mr. Vickers.
Thanks to everyone standing a watch tonight so others can sleep safely.
