This is a story about a sheep. A little sheep, locked deep in prison, put there by ponies. He doesn't want to be there, but then he's had to do a lot of things he doesn't want to. It's a shame he deserves to be in there.

Rejoice mine comrade. Salvation has arrived!
(Let's see how well this ages)
Like wine,
This has been the Emotional Roller Coaster 9000, we hope you enjoyed the ride.
Noooooooo!
Why must you do this???!???
Not another cliffhanger!
Pain!!!!
I hope Luna actually does what crimson said she said she would do. But knowing this story, I doubt it. And even if she does they most likely found a way to shut her out or something.
Bruh. BRUH. I am so freaking invested in this. This is insane.
Hooo boy. Well, it was obvious that something would happen, given how strictly author tries to follow the canon. I hope Crimson is right. Great chapter.
Why do you keep doing this Lambsy ? Is this fun to keep pilling these feelings of despair onto your readers ? Are you some kind of reverse-siren ?
This whole chapter was just pure unadulterated dread, 25 512 words of suspense and despair where you just watch a disaster coming, while being in a safe, warm and cozy environnement just to add guilt over this entire chapter.
It was dreadful, from the start to the end, there's always this part in tragedies where you say "oh no, it's a misunderstanding, you're making a big mistake" but it's often quick decisions that leave no time for suspense, when a greek hero commit suicide, it's just a few lines and it's over.
Here ? We have third parties adding to this unjustice akin to bullying, we lack critical information, not to mention the still hot grief of losing Gloom.
Everything was good, the clever use of internal dialogue, the attempts that look like one of the lists Prey is so fond of.
And after the dark night we have morning, hope, but this is almost not hope, in a chapter dedicated to make sure this feeling was nothing but a ghost that hurt you in the end.
This story is the work of a genius.
Damn, Prey just can't catch a break. Also Luna is REALLY bad at communicating with Prey.
Details help!
Crimson... That hit me right in the feels. Those two are more alike than I realized.
I'm ready for this trial. What do these ponies even have to put a child in solitary confinement or treat one this way. We're reaching absurd levels of just following orders.
The rank and file don't know why what appears to be a nine year old is in prison but are willing to do it anyways.
That was the shortest 25,000 words I've ever read, holy fucking hell.
Absolutely amazing chapter, I can't wait to see Prey get screwed over as Luna fails to protect him somehow. No good deed goes unpunished, so why not go full in evil, eh Prey?
My heart is still beating so damn fast! Prey just walked in, took the Elements, had Crimson change his mind, then walk right back and put them back! And he's got to get away with it, since the story ending with prey being thrown into Dreverton isn't the way this will go.
This conspiracy against him is huge! The Sunny D guards are executing a warrant, but we have no idea where or why this warrant exists. I mean, there's a hundred reasons it could exist, but what do they know? Someone in the Discord mentioned that it could be a noble who got the warrant created, but surely not? There's got to be more...
The Fells send their regards, I just know it!
This was one intense chapter. I just couldn't stop reading. Can't wait to see how this all unfolds.
I'm both relieved and sad we didn't see Prey really let loose
This was both the most frustrating and best pay off chapter of this entire story.
And now I have to wait two weeks.
THANKS FOR THE CHAPTER
After Prey escaped His cell..... That mountaining pressure, that vivid Description....
At the End I was literally Holding my Breath. I have No Idea how you did it, but I haven't felt that way in a loong, loong Time.
Thank you (and your Editor) for that. Its truelly the best Thing Happening in These 2 weeks, to ready another Brilliantly Written Chapter.
(By the Way, i dont know if that has been asked before, but do you Plan on opening a Patreon Account? I would Like to Support you)

Pretty terrible, all Things considered 🔗🔗🌋💎☠️🔗🔗
My heart was actually pounding so hard I could hear it for the first half the chapter.
This story never seems to disappoint. Every chapter keeps me wanting for more. I am so excited to see what you have in store for us next chapter!
25000 words have never felt so short.
I really hope Preys trust in Crimson does not come back to bite him. He finally believes in something besides himself, dont take that away from him.
Wow. I'm hoping crimson is right but if not then I hope he works to get prey out. He already found preys lair and this could be a good way to slowly get crimson to see what prey has been doing
Crimson proving that once again, friendship really is magic.
Love your work!!
Prey did a good thing, for once. Please let this be the start of his healing.
TBH I still think the Mayflower arc is my favorite. It just hits different than the other arcs.
This is simultaneously almost saddest and the happiest and the most scared and the most mad I've ever been in a single chapter.
Title change proposal: The emotional rollercoaster of doom
You must check a box saying you do not have heart problems before reading this chapter.
I really hate Equestria's justice system...
Hope really is the cruelest thing. I really want to read the visit to Clan Cilldara and for that Prey has to be released. But at the same time, it's hard to imagine how the story could continue without Gloom by their sides.
Damn, harmony really does not hold its punches.
Edit:
Heh, just could not help but think how the scene would play out with that later speaking manifestation of harmony and Prey.
This is fanart material right here. 🐑
I was on edge the entire time. What an amazing chapter.
Buck me, that chapter was wonderful, felt short, and still has me needing more! I kinda want to see Luna, Crimson, and Pray get locked into a room where they must learn to communicate. They all suck at it. They also all need serious therapy that only they can really provide to each other.
I want to see princess Luna suffer.
I've been sitting here for maybe an hour, thinking of just what to say. After this chapter, I feel like there a lot left to be said, but I can't think of anything. The chapter has left me blank. The Rollercoaster of emotions rung me dry.
So, instead of talking about the chapter, as the story slowly tipps the scale towards 1.5M, and maybe even starting to reach the ending, I have a few things about this story as a whole.
It's staggering to think how this story has been a part of many of our lives for three years now. Every other weakens, without fail, me and countless others have cleared their scedual to pour over a new behemoth of a chapter.
The amount of effort that must have gone into creating a masterpiece after masterpiece, each one by itself the length of a novel. And each one within a mere two weak period with the biggest ever delays being a day or two! It will never cease to astonish me. You can try and humble yourself. But there are many GREAT authors that could barely achieve a story of half your quality, at tenth your speed.
At least to me, this story became a significant part of my life these past three years. Not a week went by without speculating on future chapters, or reminiscing on the previous. During this period many things begun and ended. I've finished school, I quit my first job. And I'm sure that when this story come to an end, it will impact me no less. And can only imagine how it impacted you or others.
And now, as the story might be starting to step towards its conclusion, I just want to say:
Thank you!
I hope you'll continue writing after this is over, and I'll hope you'll share your next tales with us, even if not on this site.
And if you ever open a patron, I'll be honored to support you.
sorry if you had to endure my sentimental rambling :)

You may get to. Prey's arrest could be just a way for another faction to attack Luna, politically.

After thinking about it for a while, I've come to the conclusion that Mayflower may stand out because it feels like all parts of that arc are just one cohesive thing. Because it's self-contained, it all feels like part one big chapter rather than several. This is good because it makes the arc feel unique. But I wouldn't say that the story has peaked at Mayflower or hasn't gotten better. I think that there is a clear upward trajectory all throughout the story. And the reason I think that is because the frequency of outstanding work has gone up over time.
When not examining the story by arcs, or even chapters, but rather looking for any writing that stands out as unique (stuff that elicits the same feelings as Mayflower), I think there's plenty of parts to found since. Stuff that cumulatively and sometimes even individually surpasses Mayflower. The last two chapters have been some of the absolute strongest in the entire fic. (And I'm not just basing that off the gravitas of the death of a main character.) But even going back there's plenty interspersed all throughout.
Some of the parts that stand out aren't even what you'd expect. Like the hospital stay after Mayflower, the day to day life of Randy Pickaxe... market day, and many others. These are small things, but to me they feel like crucial elements of the story. There's chapters and scenes that are very special, they're just not explicitly interrelated.
And again, I think there's been an upward trend in the concentration of such material in the story.

Hope so
I have committed a terrible sin. I paused my endless refreshing because of ‘obligations’.
But anyway this chapter… it’s just so amazing and horrible and cruel and I am in love with it.
i bett its that stupid investigator's doing
poor pray, give him some rest Luna you arrogant bitch
o crimson bless your kind
i am so hipet to know what that stupid trail is all about

Logic holds no sway over my smouldering rage.
And I have a swelling anger to block out the sun.
Prey almost threw his life away and, what's funny, over what I have a feeling will be the Equestrian equivalent of a white-collar crime, not some murder charge or black magic practice. Probably some yet another misdemeanor or perceived violation of his parole, courtesy of Strange Happen.. whatshisname.
Or was he a Changeling and died? I actually can't remember, the chapter was so nerve-racking for me.

There we go. I had to.
Here's hoping over 25,000 words will be enough to last us till another dose in two weeks . I need my fix of Prey, man.
Someone has a powerful hate-boner for our boys, and it feel like something's going to be done about it soon.
But the most important part of this chapter is that Luna once again shows why nobody liked her a thousand years ago. People, let's all do our best to learn from her example: "good communication is often critical in a stressful situation, because without it a sheep might go on a murder spree that dooms the world."
11159480
The thing about addiction is that it's never enough. That 25,000 word hit only made me want more as soon as possible. The reptile part of my brain wants instant gratification, because it doesn't understand what the monkey part of my brain does: that the 2 weeks it takes to germinate and mature a new chapter of sheep fiction is precisely what makes it slap so damn hard.
ohh man. from when prey first Messed with taffy to the last word i was chanting in my head “prey dont do it dont do it dont do it”. this is probably the only time i can think of where im glad prey didnt succeed, even if it was from his own choice. dry tears are on my face. i was so scared prey was gonna do something so awful and un-isolated that everyone finds out and crimson gets upset.
hope really is a feeling, huh? i hope this trial is just baseless accusations or something. i hope prey is safe. i hope luna saw his improvement, and thats why shes saying shell defend him. i hope prey can heal from the loss of gloom. i want prey to continue improving, getting better, healing, with crimson. i want prey to be really, truly happy.

It has been asked, actually. Repeatedly, and by many people. And as far as I know, to no material result. At this point, I'm half-convinced that if the author ever finds themselves in any kind of financial trouble we would all reenact the ending of It's a Wonderful Life.
And the wonderful person that blessed us with this magnificently thrilling and encaptivating tale would have earned every cent.
11159300
Additional material that can be taken out of context
I hope during the trial that Prey will play his trump card of technical language. Basically, when the prosecution uses “pony,” “somepony,” or “anypony,” Prey responds back with that he is a lamb and not a pony.
If that happens, I can’t wait to see it play out.
Y'know I think Luna would be a much more effective leader if she didn't hang up the phone before confirming the other side has any clue what she's talking about.
Worse comes to worst, at least Prey can yell "I saved your entire fucking nation from conquest, skank!" as he's dragged back to the long-term-timeout box.
Edit: Very much enjoying how Crimson is in such a low spot the idea of murder is only abhorrent if it doesn't accomplish a goal.
Crimson really got his moment to shine this chapter. Not only did he knock some sense into Prey about how Luna is every bit as fallible as a mortal, Crimson also told Prey that he trusted him over Luna. Telling somebody you choose them over the pseudo-god that most of your people worship means a lot.
Crimson's character is well established despite being one of the only characters we don't get direct mental insight into. But that lack of thought narration still often leaves us not quite sure how Crimson truly feels about any particular topic.
Gauging the strength of his relationship with Prey throughout the fic is thus a more tense affair. Since we can't really know how much Crimson values Prey; he just doesn't state it explicitly. And we aren't confident that Prey won't, characteristically, throw Crimson under the bus out of cowardice when the chips are really down either.
Very exciting chapter. Can't wait for the next one.

Her refusal to listen to information that is not necessary at the moment and can cause too much emotion looks like a way to manage one's mental illness. Like Luna knows she will fly off the handle, and purposefully avoids any circumstances that can lead to it.
The chapter is summarized as follows: Prey goes from being in a lead-lined cell to a lead-lined cell....... brutal episode that there is no verbal instrument to describe it.
I felt every beat of my heart while reading this. This amount of emotion is going to damage my soul.
I laughed, watered and laughed again <3 </3 <3
