This is a story about a sheep. A little sheep, locked deep in prison, put there by ponies. He doesn't want to be there, but then he's had to do a lot of things he doesn't want to. It's a shame he deserves to be in there.

In 1950, NBC bought the broadcast rights to The Wizard of Oz for 50 years
They broadcast it every fall & for a long time it was the movie seen by more
Americans than any other movie.
It was never even nominated for “Best Picture”
although it did win 2 for the music
This happened and everything after looks like this
Awesome :3

Ah, a posting error. Thank you very much for pointing that out so quickly. Phew *wipes away sweat*
So, the first mind Prey absorbed way Snake's. That brings up so many questions! Like what could have possibly let to this situation? How did he manage to absorb Snake's mind without losing himself to Snake's more experienced mind and probably stronger sense of self? When exactly did Prey learn rune and mind magic?
Moments like this make me realize that we really don’t know about what happened before Prey was put in prison.
I do hope we'll get to see that eventually.
Anyways that ending was incredible! I am so exited for the next arc!
I do wander how Gloom will react to Prey, I feel like it won't be like how Crimson reacted, but I'm not sure if he will be absolutely happy that Prey survived , absolutely furious that he abandoned them or apologetic and pin all the blame on himself.
I look forward to the next chapter!
I can't wait to see what you got in store for us in the next arc!
That was a really good arc. The ending to it in this chapter was filled with excitement and drama that really pulled the whole thing together. Prey struggling to realise why his life was saved sums up a lot of the arc itself, in that he has trouble understand why people do things even tho he can read minds. He's just out of touch with his emotions and struggling to survive rather than understanding why you need to survive, or what you need to survive for.
Finding out that he absorbed Snake's mind is also a really eye opening thing as well. It explains a lot about how Prey changed so rapidly from the scared runt into the vicious mind leech once the resistance ended.
I think that coming into this next arc we will be seeing Prey start exploring more of his feelings, and trying to understand the things he struggles with now that he's had the eye opening experience with Crimson. I'm also interested to see how the investigation raps up, as the salt dealers get shut down(or maybe not fully yet) and new investigations start with the NSID.
Thank you for this wild ride of drama and mystery as we come to understand Prey, and as Prey comes to understand himself and others.

Glad that you enjoyed the Arc! 😄 Next time yes there will be a new investigation (eventually. Not gonna' jump straight into that).
Your summary was quite concise and accurate. Prey was a child soldier, he doesn't now how to "deal" with normal life stuff. Now he's got to try and learn.
Someone asked me before; "This is a revenge story. When do we get to the revenge?" Is it a revenge story though? A redemption story? Or something else entirely? Time will tell.

Some of those questions will be answered in the next chapter at the start of Arc 3. Someof them. Hope you enjoyed this sorta' conclusion and chapter. 😁
I think it's safe to say that Luna's trackers don't track any sort of rune magic
I can't help but imagine that Prey's mind breaking skills work similarly to Talion & Celebrimbor in the shadow of mordor/war games, just with less domination. (I'm really hoping to see one of Talion's or Celebrimbor's quotes get used)

Yep, track runes they do not. And, sorry, don't know Shadow of Mordor games Can't provide with some quotes.

I wonder when Prey will realise that he just destroyed someone's mind and there was no consequences (that are princess related)?
The shadow series is about a solider whose family is murdered in front of him and he himself is sacrificed by evil forces to summon the spirit of an elven lord who helped to craft and wield The One Ring. The wraith, Celebrimbor, decides to inhabit the soldier, Talion, as a vessel and thus banishes him from death. They eventually learn that they can enter the minds of orcs to find out what they know. In time they gain the power to brand these orcs to fight and serve them. (These are similar to what prey is capable of doing, breaking and conquering minds at a touch, albeit a lot less dangerous). In shadow of war they gain a ring of power which dominates orcs and not just brand them. The difference is that they retain much more of their personality while still serving you but there is a risk of betrayal if they no longer fear you or are mistreated by you. But there is a way to keep them afraid and that is to shame them. By burning your mark in them so that everyone knows that they have lost.
I vibrated when I saw this in my tracking.
Man, you just know that Crimson is gonna blab to Gloom about Prey having actual emotions and actually being, like, super traumatized about something in his past. He's such a stick in the mud, what with all that "caring" malarkey.
I can't wait to see it blow up in his face.
Oh yes! Character development just gets me so excited! My only wish is that this got more attention. But anyways, I'll be here for the next one, keep up the good work!
Ha, I was scared for a moment that the griffin's death would raise some questions, it ended up okay in the end.
Great chapter as always, I hope the poor lad will get a break now, slashed legs, crushed ears, maybe a broken rib that will manifest now that he ran out of adrenaline?
Can't wait to hear the guards' reaction, he's the one who took care of the leader after all

Well, somewhere in Prey's incoherent askance as to why anyone would stick his/her neck out to save him were a few statements that could've passed as survivor's guilt, an utterly depleted self of self-worth, and a lowkey disdain for himself almost as great as his disdain for most of the individuals on his 'List'.
That being said, Crimson's own ability to interpret this is questionable, if only because we don't know his thoughts.
God, I'm invested. This entire story is really reminicient of a bildungsroman in reverse at times, a nice mixture where one's 'innocence' being lost isn't the same thing as 'growing up' and how age isn't really maturity.
Wow, Prey REALLY doesn't want Crimson to know about his runes, does he?
When will another chapter come out?

Well it's Monday now, so near the end of this week!

Ok!
My guy, this story is too good to put down. I've been distracted for like a week thinking about this fic, once I got past the first arc I had to race to the latest chapter so I can focus on some other stuff. Great fic that deserves many more followers.

Thank you very much for the compliment, I am glad it managed to make an impression
Finally reading this story again, and I'll never forget how much I'm in love with it. This chapter alone...absolutely amazing. I've got a ways to catch up but I definitely don't mind when it means I get to read more immediately! Will Prey finally catch a break and get some respect, or will his actions have made things even more complicated for him? So many ways this can go!
I love/hate you, for a moment I thought I'd never see Gloom and Crimson again .... I hate/love to become fond of the characters. Ah! <3
Good chapter.

Thanks for the catch.
Whelp, so much for the slow burn I'm guessing. Pivotal moment here from the looks of it.
