This story is a sequel to From a Shimmer to a Shine

The prodigal daughter has returned. After a long struggle, Sunset Shimmer has righted her wrongs to return to Celestia's side. But all is not well in Equestria or on Earth, as a familiar face aims to exploit both worlds. Can the threat be stopped?

Twilight Sparkle, a young gifted Unicorn is given the opportunity of a lifetime, to be the personal student to Princess Celestia. After demonstrating her abilities at her examination, her first day of studies comes to a grinding halt when a predecessor comes back for revenge on her mentor and Princess. After a narrow escape, the young filly, just beginning to learn her powers finds herself in the middle of the everfree forest, alone and vulnerable with no one to help guide her back to the life that was so swiftly pulled out from under her hooves. Her adventure nearly comes to an end when a pack of timber wolves attack her, however she is saved by one of the most unlikely of creatures, a dragon. With no one else to help her, she immediately follows the disgruntled and solitary creature back to his lair, much to his annoyance. However, he comes to find out that the two of them are far more connected than he could have ever guessed...

In this alternate universe, Twilight is a filly and never hatched spike. He grew up as a wild dragon in the Everfree forest, however deep down past the scales and fire, he will come to realize that perhaps he is something more. The first of a series I plan to create where spike is the "Older Brother/Guardian" figure, however, the bond that they share is the same if not stronger than that in the show. I believe this is an original concept, correct me if I'm wrong, but the idea came to me and I have been excited to show this to all of you

This story has been in my mind for over a year now and I am excited to finally be able to publish it, I hope that you all enjoy, as I am proud to present to you "Friends by Fate"

Following the events of the "Friendship Games," Sunset comes to a hard decision to return to Equestria and face her former mentor after so many years.

Over a millennium ago, a young Starswirl the Bearded sought to make a name for himself by creating doorways to other worlds. His work saw him receiving the help of Silver Scepter, a renowned artificer that he would grow very close to throughout their time working together. However, following his self-banishment to Limbo, not many were around to know of what happened to his beloved.

Now in the modern day, with his wanderlust sated, Starswirl has returned to Canterlot and his workshop within the catacombs of the city. Here, he uncovers a journal revealing a lifetime of details regarding the first world that they opened a portal to with a note attached reading, "Love, Silver Scepter." Wrought with strife of his negligence, he now asks that Twilight and her friends go on one final adventure to discover what happened to the mare and possibly set foot into the mysterious world of 'Terra' for the last time before it is lost to Equestria forever.

It was just like any other night. The moon had been up for hours and the ponies rested peacefully in their beds. Celestia, on this normal night, decides to take a stroll around the quiet palace.

This seemingly routine walk changes everything for her as she finds one young unicorn thief trying to rob her.

And this thief, harnessing magical powers quite rare to normal unicorns, catches Celestia's attention.

Sunset Shimmer has never needed anyone or anything - she had her magic, she had her ambition, and she had intellect. Others just stood in her way or held her down. So what do you do when your plans for world domination fall through?

Now she's about to discover that the only thing harder than hitting rock bottom is climbing your way out of that crater. Good thing she has some new friends to help her along, but its tough to seek forgiveness from others when you can't forgive yourself...

Twilight Sparkle lives in the ideal world of Equestria. There, she is a pony, strong and proud, surrounded by friends, and with only studying as her job. Though some may try to mock this, as the student to the princess of this land, she is revered as one of the smartest and most amazing mares in the world. She even has the honor of defending the land, and going on adventures few even see in their dreams.

It is these dreams that for five years, Celestia has recorded, while looking over the human known as Twilight Sparkle.

A situation with the Dursley family gets Harry sent off to America to live with his mother's cousins, Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna. Of course this brings a whole new set of problems to both the world of wizards and the girls of Canterlot High School.

Sunset always knew that she was destined for greatness, but she never dreamed of how great she could become. Not until she had seen it – the mirror had shown her as an alicorn. Ignoring Celestia’s warnings, Sunset goes looking for answers.

When she learns that the mirror is also a portal to another world, well, what else was she supposed to do? But it seems that she hadn’t considered every possibility. She hadn’t, for example, considered that she might get herself trapped on the other side. Nor did she think she’d find herself transformed into a child again.
