It is the day before the Fall Formal when the beautifully decorated gym erupts in a mysterious slime explosion. Rainbow Dash, although innocent, is sentenced to clean up the mess, while the Fall Formal is being postponed, much to the chagrin of the other students.

Twilight offers her help to the distressed Rainbow Dash. As they start cleaning the gym, they also have to face the angry reactions of the other students together. But Twilight has a secret agenda that Rainbow must not learn about.

Set in an alternate Equestria Girls universe where the events from the movie have not happened.

Since the Alicorn Amulet incident, Trixie suffers of nightmares. After some time she finally yielded and decided to get to the one pony who can help her. And so she returns to Ponyville, the place her nightmares began, not knowing that she has bigger problems than simple nightmares.

Celestia and Luna must break the demon's spell over Eveningray, in order to save Equestria from her frost, and stop the demon from opening the gate.

When two infants creatures appeared in her bed, Twilight Sparkle couldn't help but feel curious. And that moment, she later realized, was when her entire life would get quite hectic.

All around Equestria, strange events started to take place, a new kind of energy bathed the world overnight, and now odd creatures were popping all over the globe.
And little did Twilight know, that the two babies with her were an important piece of the new mystery.

Meanwhile, Babs Seed is still blissfully unaware of the unusual destiny that awaits her, Diamond Tiara is slowly finding her place in the world, and Ponyville is still the weirdest town in Equestria. But then again, what else is new?
