Twilight Sparkle keeps writing letters to Celestia, but she never sends them.  When Rainbow Dash swipes one of them, Twilight is desperate to get it back.  Will she succeed, or will Celestia read one of her letters at last?

A bit of TwiLestia with a dash of comedy on the side.

Editing by the excellent Jordanis.

Thank you! Twilestia is one of my weaknesses, but I'm glad this is enjoyable to people who aren't crazy shippers for it.

yeah. i usually read twidash. and once in a blue moon, flashlight or twishy

Really liked this one!

This was certainly well written, but the slapstick doesn't blend well with the serious romance in my eyes. The shift between doesn't feel right somehow, though I can't tell why. Overall, while I did enjoy this, it would be better set with a second chapter or a sequel detailing the scenes with Twilight and Celestia. Some of the scenes could have used a bit more fleshing out, a greater vocabulary overall would be useful, but I will admit that this has some fantastic potential. Overall, well written but not near as great as it could be. 3/5

Yay, senpai has noticed me!

I liked this one a lot.

Cute Twilestia, but now I have the Moody Blues stuck in my head.

That is a hazard of stories with song references in their names. Which I keep doing to myself.

Sweet! Plus, Moody Blues nostalgia! :pinkiehappy:

That was one hell of a story, especially set to the tune of Nights in White Satin, I loved it, a lot.

Thanks very much. (It's a good song.)

Honestly, this didn't really work for me. The fact that things work out fine in the end doesn't change the fact that Rarity and Rainbow seriously stepped over the line. That the letter was 'only' Twilight confessing her feelings keeps things from being seriously messed up, but it's still not cool.

:twilightangry2:Despite how well this turned out, I do believe I need to kill both Rainbow and Rarity for this.

I liked it, but it needs something like this:

The next morning Rainbow Dash and Rarity woke up missing feathers and mane respectively. Followed shortly with a thank you note and potions that would regrow them by that evening. Also a blue book which turned out to not be the same one Pinkie recommended, but that was a good read anyway. And then Pinkie threw a "No Longer Single" party for the happy couple. The End

This didn't feel like it earned the Comedy tag at all. I think the part with Rainbow and Pinkie being totally horrible friends, the first Disloyal and the latter potentially making her friend Sad, was meant to be the comedy, with AJ being the intelligent one and the straight man of the equation. It legitimately wasn't funny, it was a bit annoying to see the lengths these two went to for that. Mad props to AJ, good on her for being Best Mane Six.

This definitely earned the Romance tag. Though the pacing was too fast, and sharing its space with the section meaning to be Comedy, it was sincerely heart-warming and sweet, and I very much enjoyed Celestia's approach in her own confession. Oftentimes it comes off heavy-handed, or authors write her being meek and submissive during such moments because they don't get how to write someone who is the concept of the power of state having a moment where they are vulnerable - which is still not a new experience for them, just rare. Twilight's frenzied fleeing across Equestria was a little unbelievable due to that she put 'ALL' her magic into the first big teleport, and then just kept making very large teleports before finally running low on magic like she should have been after the first given its description - but it's honestly not the focus of the story, so clearly not a primary issue.

In short, I was sad for Twilight. Then I was frustrated. Then it got better and ended on a high note.

Good work.

If there's ever a sequel I'd expect all but AJ to get their shit kicked in, but I suspect it would go along the lines of;

Bad girls, ends justify the means, happily ever after.

It'd be nice to see the girls feel a tad bit of remorse. Over all 3.5/5

That Knights in white satin reference. :moustache:

D'awwwwwww...

TwiLestia? Yes please.

Beauty I'd always missed
In these eyes before
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore

Now for plucking rainbows ... :derpytongue2:

Well, worked out better than expected.

Even though things worked out, I expect Twi would want to have some words with Rarity after she calms down.

Twilight is still going to crush Rarity. I know I would.

Some might criticize that "wacky hijinks deliver a secret confession letter," is one of the oldest and most overdone romance tropes there is and in this fandom for Twilestia stories in particular. But I'm of the school that true originality is impossible and all that matters is execution.

The only flaws in execution I see are that the pacing is pretty rushed and it seems to pretty heavily regress Rainbow Dash's and Rarity's characterizations for when this takes place in the timeline. I could see them acting like that in season 1 or 2 but post Tirek they would have too much maturity and respect for Twilight. It could have also used one more pass for typos.

But Twilight herself was quite entertaining and the resolution was sweet. All in all making it quite good.

Very warm and fuzzy and light like cotton clouds full of sunshine nice, but I feel like this is incomplete somehow. As if... we needed at least some final conflicting confronting congregation of clearly classy carousing crew of friendly mares to put in an appearance to make some commentary regarding the royal proceedings.

Rarity still needs to be methodically shaved for being a nosy horse.

i also feel like something should be done to her for telling the princess

The vindictiveness so many commenters seem to think Twilight should feel towards her friends is rather saddening me. And also creeping me out a little bit.

E shipfics aren't always my bag, but I'm putting this in the read later for the Moody Blues reference in the title.

if I treated that moment as our last meeting, it really wold be

*would

That teleport spree was a proper Twilight freakout! :twilightoops:

Delightfully sitcommy, with a wonderfully fluffy aftertaste. Thank you for it.

8578459
Yeah, I agree. It is a bit scary, while Twilight's friends were definitely out of character, having them shaved or something like that...? That'd be sorta out of character for Twilight as well. Oh, the hypocrisy.

It's actually "nights."

I was disappointed when I learned, too.

Simple and straightforward, but it put a smile on my weary face, so thanks for that.

The teleportation freakout was something I could absolutely see Twilight doing :twilightsheepish:

The premise seems a little familiar, like I might have read a fic similar to this before, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this. Great work!

This could easily have been an episode--minus the romance, of course. Though I for one think the show would greatly benefit from some twilestia. As would every story on the site. Even as just a subplot. And once it's a subplot, it might as well just be the whole plot. Just sayin.

8578459
Does this mean I should put away my hopes for Twilight's Secret Sadistic Torture Sequel?

Awwwwwwwww

8582051
Only if Celestia is into that kind of thing... :trollestia:

Should have teleported by the Tree of Harmony and away again. If it is possible for teleportation-tracking to be thrown off by magic, that would be the spot.

The way I see it, Rainbow and Pinkie committed a major breach of privacy purely because they wanted to laugh at Twilight’s misfortune; it came across (to me) as them being incredibly insensitive and slightly malicious, and also strangely kind of like they forgot how feeling work. I can see why some people might find that comical, but any amusement I felt was overshadowed by frustration on behalf of how I imagined Twilight would feel if she knew what was happening then.

I actually did feel annoyed at Rarity at first, but in retrospect I think it had more to do with residual frustration at Rainbow. I can easily imagine that in a story with a similar plot been done from Rarity’s prospective, it wouldn’t have been hard to make Rarity’s actions very sympathetic. The fact that you only spend a line or two on her reasoning makes her come across as a bit shallow and insensitive, but not by much and even that little bit could easily be fixed by an extra sentence and a half further showing that Rarity really does understands what twilight is going through and wants to help because she’s worried and cares about Twilight.

Ultimately, aside from the part with Rainbow talking to Pinkie, this was a really good fic. Plus, it was clearly written very well from a purely technical sense, and that’s always a plus.

I haven't, and won't say anything to defend Rainbow's actions. She was a bit of a dick here. It's not the first time, if you watch the show, so I personally don't feel it's that out of character. She didn't stop to think through the seriousness of the situation, she just acted thoughtlessly because it seemed funny.

The thing is, though, that revenge against friends who overstep is not what friends do. People are arguing that Rainbow Dash is out of character, but a Twilight Sparkle who does things like shave Rarity's hair off, or otherwise punish her friends would be massively, wildly, ridiculously out of character. And yet here are all these comments, saying that's what should happen, that's what they want to see, that's what I should have written. They want suffering and pain, deliberately (not accidentally or thoughtlessly) inflicted on a friend, by a friend.

That's incredibly sad.

8584363
Yeah. Rainbow was really frustrating and incredibly insensitive but still in character and clearly wasn’t acting with the intent to harm.
And you’re right, Twilight wouldn’t want to actually retaliate or anything (aside from perhaps an angry lecture/scolding). If anything, Twilight has a tendency to forgive even when she shouldn’t, and this isn’t even one of those situations.
Really though, I wasn’t saying that I thought Twilight should (or would) get revenge so much as explaining why I didn’t like the scene with Rainbow and Pinky and why it made the story somewhat less enjoyable for me; in retrospect, I don’t think I expressed that very well though

8584439
Eh, I think you said it well enough. I just am a little frustrated by some other comments, while really not necessarily wanting to turn this comments section into a war by replying directly to call people out. So you kinda got vented at there a bit, sorry.
