After her dreams of going to a tea party and being dressed up, Smolder finally decides to try it out. Thankfully, her best friend is there to give her a hoof.

The annual Yaken holiday of Snilldar Fest is a special time of year for all of Yakyakistan as evey yak comes together and indulges in two of their most important aspects of life: family and smashing!

What happens when Smolder gets invited to partake in such festivities for the holidays?

This story is a sequel to A Dragon's Soft Spot

After the events that happened just outside of Las Vegas, Aaron and Smolder return for a new adventure back in the real world. This time, they've moved into a new house that has room for the entire family to come and visit. It even has a guest room for Smolder to stay in. And it would let Smolder hide the portal to Equestria in it whenever she and Aaron can go there or for their friends to come and visit them.

But then they started going to their new school, which wasn't like any other school. Not everything was gonna go their way in their school. Especially with all the unfair rules that were put into the school. So they're gonna have to try and bare it. Or try to figure out what was going on in the school.

This story will have some voting in some chapters. Only one choice per vote.

One might think that pairing a focused, future-thinking individual with a laid-back opportunist might balance out situations nicely. Ideally, the one obsessed with the future makes the plans, while the one who lives in the present keeps things steady and grounded.

Unfortunately, while that sort of tactic might work well in business, it's far more problematic in an actual relationship. Doubly so when there's a failure to communicate.

And when a holiday requires keeping secrets from others, well...

Cast out of the Celestial Palace, the former Royal Student, Sunset Shimmer, is about to take life into her own hooves and seize what rightfully belongs to her, on the other side of that mysterious Mirror Portal.

Only problem is, somepony else got to the mirror, first. It's gone, vanished.
So is Celestia.

On the bright side, the new Acting Princess, Mi Amore Cadenza (or Cadance, as she likes to be called), is willing to ignore that banishment and give Sunset a second chance. She's heard the rumors about the reclusive, disobedient, and just-generally-mean Royal Student, but the Acting Princess needs all the help she can get.

So, all of a sudden, Sunset goes from being a disgraced scholar, banned from the palace grounds, to serving as a valuable asset of Princess Cadance's desperate scramble to hold the Principality of Equestria together and figure out what on Equus even happened to the Princess of the Sun.

Now, Sunset just has to avoid royally peeving off the ponies giving her a second chance: to ingratiate herself to them, even; to make herself indispensable. She can lie, cheat, and swindle like nopony else in the Celestial Palace, and it's time she used those talents for somepony other than herself.

Starting with this little project of Cadance's. The Princess needs to recruit a young group of friends to serve the Crown and Harmony, and she's already got a lead. Sunset just has to do the actual hoofwork of meeting the candidates, and then she can dust her hooves of this and go back to her studies, secure in her appointment as Royal Student.

When Smolder finds a secret room in the Castle of the Two Sisters, she comes into contact with a mirror holding secrets to another race that lives in secret among certain creatures. Some are out to harm, others to protect. Now in the radar of more villains than she's had to deal with in here life, how will this new discovery effect Smolder's relationship with her friends?

This lambkin, the supposed Black Sheep of her generation with very meager personal ability to defend herself, is ripped away from the world of Equestria along with three others.

A timid lambkin, a cutesy loving dragon, a sweet studious changeling and a wannabe pirate goat are going to be stuck together for quite a while.
