One might think that pairing a focused, future-thinking individual with a laid-back opportunist might balance out situations nicely. Ideally, the one obsessed with the future makes the plans, while the one who lives in the present keeps things steady and grounded.

Unfortunately, while that sort of tactic might work well in business, it's far more problematic in an actual relationship. Doubly so when there's a failure to communicate.

And when a holiday requires keeping secrets from others, well...

I LOVE THIS oh my god! really sweetly written, and i love how much you play with the whole opposite perspective thing and aren't afraid to let Ocellus and Smolder clash however they need to—it's so great seeing some smolcellus from you.

Thank you so much, I love this!!! The way you played with Smolder and Ocellus's differences and turned it into a dramatic yet incredibly sweet story is perfect! You're awesome!

Gahhhh, that means a lot! I legitimately had to go through a lot of drafts of different concepts to try and find something that would spark conflict but lead to a wholesome ending; I love smolcellus to bits, but i wasn't expecting it to be tough going into it and i was still worried by the end that it'd be less happy than was appropriate for a hearth's warming gift. If you genuinely like it, then I'm absolutely going to take that to heart. Thank you!

This sounds like a challenge to write more smolcellus stories. I could try and drag up some of the stuff from the pile i rejected, or take different stabs at it, but i'll definitely bump it up on the priority list if you're game for such a thing. :D

It's great! Don't worry about making it Hearth's-Warming enough, it's perfect!

I don't see Smolcellus a lot, but I can see the brain/brawn combination inspiring some good times together, like here. Fantastic job, dude!

YES PLEASE, smolder looking for her in "...But It's All Right" breaks my fragile heart in the best way possible, every time I reread that story I need to read happier stuff involving them :fluttercry:

I'd absolutely love to see more of them from you, in any kind of emotional turmoil you see fit

It's actually fairly common.
Just like sandbar and gallus lately.
