In the frozen lands of northern Equus, beyond even the northernmost holdings of the Crystal Empire, a curious state prepares for war. The bandit king, Virgil, has won a war of independence and now seeks to dominate his former suzerain, Nova Griffonia. The lands of Virgillia are sparse, but the mountains under his control are rich with magic crystals, which he sees as the key to victory in the coming conflicts, they just need some development. He sends his most trusted advisors to find him someone who can give him this much-needed advantage.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, Bernard, a diamond dog with little experience in magic, is selected for the task. With the most ruthless griffons on the continent breathing down his neck, Bernard must call upon old friends and make new ones in order to satisfy the criminals he's fallen in with. Will his new research division discover new frontiers of magic and technology, earning the favor of the raider king? Or will they earn his ire instead?

Set in the Equestria at War universe and written for the EaW 2022 Writing Contest.

The pony known as Jungle Trek hasn't had the luckiest life so far. Being born in the Tenochtitlan Basin far from the oversight of Canterlot, his "adventures" have consisted of bouncing from one occupation to another, holding himself together while other foals did things like "make friends" or "get an education". Well, Jungle needs none of those things, when he has bits instead!

...Okay, maybe working for Doctor Caballeron isn't exactly a dream job. It does pay well and the archeological stunts are always exciting, but Jungle needs a break from all that. That's why he has his eyes on a new house all for himself, located in a nice, small village called Ponyville. With a full bag of bits in tow, he's ready to start a new life, one far more peaceful than constant trap-dodging and fighting Daring Do.

After all, Ponyville can't have anything special or strange about it to pull him into more adventures, right?

...Right?

Thrust into the role of royal bodyguard, Lieutenant Shining Armor finds himself in the City of Roam, trying to protect Princess Cadance while avoiding accidentally starting a war with Equestria's oldest rival. His training taught him to worry about Roamish plots or over enthusiastic crowds. What he hadn't anticipated was the focus on proper etiquette, or the way his heart pounds when Cadance smiles at him, or the sheer number of creatures that want her dead. Trapped between love and duty, Cadance and Shining discover that sometimes the greatest dangers are those closest to home.

This is a primarily a short story about stress, anxiety and the importance of parental affection in the development of young adults against a backdrop of political chaos and instability across the Griffonian Empire after a decade of wars; some large and some small.

If that name is unfamiliar to you, then I'm happy to explain that this story is based on a headcanon from the Hearts of Iron IV mod Equestria at War in which Duchess Gabriella and Duke Gerlach secure Griffenheim and rescue Grover VI from the talons of the Archon. From there they reconquer the empire and look after Grover VI as his wards, which gives us the backdrop to this short story.

I have also decided to flesh out this story, you can find the longfic version here which is currently receiving weekly updates, though that may be subject to change as my exams are coming up.

Smaug is the mightiest of all beasts in Middle Earth. No creature can match his prowess. As the last of his kind, he has no obligations to anyone being other than himself. The only thing he cares about is his hoard.

But this new creature, this alicorn, may just change that.

Instead of being defeated and turned to stone, Discord made peace with Equestria, opting to rule a land where condemn criminals and outcasts are banished to.

But of course, all things are relative. After all, Discord's tyranny is benevolent compared to the warring Queens, Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon

Ever since the Changelings attacked, Magic has been disappearing from Equestria. Replaced by the ever-expanding machine that is technology, how will Twilight Sparkle, who devoted her whole life to the subject of Magic, deal with the change?

Princess Luna is bored.

She spent a 1000 years on the moon and while she is happy to be back to her old self (even if she knows her evil scheme would have worked if it weren't for those meddling mares!) her sister refuses to let her do anything fun. .

The Princess of the Moon is fed up! She is going to go on an adventure! She is going to find Queen Chrysalis and punch that bug in the flank! And along the way she is going to fight bears, fall in love, explore strange worlds and everything else all the guide books say should happen on an adventure.

Too bad her sister (The ever calm and collected Celestia) has decided to tag along and bring their niece (the sex-crazed Cadence), nephew-in-law (the sane and rational Shining Armor) and brother (the grumpy OC/Oceanic Creature Tydal) along for the ride.

What happens when the gods go on a road trip? Chaos, insanity, and mayhem, of course!

(This is the spiritual sequel to "The Many Secret Origins of Scootaloo". While you don't need to read that story to enjoy this one, it wouldn't hurt to give it a glance to understand why many of the characters are the way they are).
