A story taking place in the Equestria at War universe, and more specifically in the context of the submod Gloria Rising that I authored. No knowledge of either is needed to enjoy or understand the fic. This is my first fanfic, not counting the writings of my submod, and I hope this alternate take on one of my favorite paths for Gloria helps those of you who like the concept, but not late game Hoi4.

Since Twilight's coronation, things in Ponyville have gotten pretty boring. Things seemed to work themselves out. Monsters or villains aren't stirring up trouble each week, the school is in good hooves, and while everypony stayed busy there just seemed to be less to do now.

This makes for a very bored Rainbow Dash.

So when she spots Starlight Glimmer with an awesome sword going to some duel, there's nothing she can do but follow. Let's see how it turns out.

Equiyn Neighgoth – Hei Maretynai! Council betrayed you, council sullied your name! Arise, great Lord of All!

The eleventh century is not a stable time. From Equestria to the Griffonian Empire, from Kiria to Aris, war has become a more common feature than peace.

But in one corner of Zebrica, flanked between nations much greater, Maretania still stands, guarding the magical artefacts in The Cave as it has for centuries.

War has hardly touched the harmonic nation, and it has been lucky in that regard. Still, all is not well.

The Fourth House, one of the few original ruling families over the ancient lands of Maretania, found itself crushed in the seventh century for its radical ideals and dangerous usage of artefacts. The surviving families are the only remains of the footnote in history called the House of Troubles.

Many of these families spent the rest of their lives, and their children's lives after them, working on some semblance of a restoration, to no avail. Now, the only surviving heiress to the once great House, Eohippin Neighgoth, has turned to more unconventional methods to take what faithless minds stole.

After all, unconventional mages often times require unconventional methodology.

It is the morning of a bright summer day and a griffon is cooking breakfast in his quaint house out in the woods. Outside, he can hear the sweet singing of the small birds and the sounds of the forests as well as the faint humming of a griffoness waiting in the living room. But for him the loudest sound that day, among all, is the thumping of his own heart beating against his chest...

Yes, this has two endings. Takes place in the Equestria at War universe but prior knowledge isn't really required.

This is my very unofficial entry for the 2022 EaW write-off. Though I could only start it in the dying days of the contest and as such it was never feasible to make it in time, I still wanted to finish it. Taking things slowly seems to be a hallmark of the contest anyway :D

My name is Rocky Climb, and like all my comrades, I am an Equestrian pegasus. I fly as part of the 3rd Squadron of Wonderbolts under the command of Captain Sharp Edge. Our unit prevented the infiltration of the lunarist heresy into our ranks. We are faithful to our duty to protect and serve our country and Princess Celestia the solar patroness of all daytime ponies.

Some hair-brained scheme by VOPS has seen a group of foreign reporters being invited to Vesalipolis for interviews with the Changelingian general staff, in an attempt to mend some of the PR fallout from the Olenian War. Coral Ridge, a journalist from Aris, has been paired off with Grand Admiral Lysander of the Kriegsmarine for an interview. This can only go well.

The Great War is over, but not all is well at home. Equestria, though victorious, was devastated by the conflict. Equestria was dragged into the modern way of life, kicking and screaming, to build the guns and machines to fight the Changelings. In peace, the ponies of Equestria struggle to find their place in a world after the war.

In a small frontier town in the south, one hired farmer comes into town for repairs for his mechanical cotton picker and sits down to talk to an out-of-work pony. They reflect on how the town changed with Equestria's industrialization. If only they could keep the land, and if only the soil would stay on the ground.
