A technology that could potentially save millions of Pony lives, along with countless other creatures. And the price?

This is an Equestria at War story, a mod for the grand strategy game Hearts of Iron 4.

This is my very unofficial entry for the 2022 EaW write-off. Though I could only start it in the dying days of the contest and as such it was never feasible to make it in time, I still wanted to finish it. Taking things slowly seems to be a hallmark of the contest anyway :D

The Great War had ended with the conquest of Equestria. Forced to flee, Celestia and Luna settle in New Mareland to try and prepare for the liberation of their homeland.
Dark forces gather in the frozen north of Griffonia, prompting an ancient order of knights to call for Celestia's aid as she had done many centuries ago.
Celestia heads north, seeking to redeem herself once more.

Major Dobbelsteen Moerman is hardly a professional officer, but he is a professional. If there's one thing that could be granted to this egotistical, reckless, insubordinate, unable-to-take-anything-seriously moron (Adjectives sourced from the Griffonian Military High Command), it's that he's really good at war.

The Changeling Empire, however, is better. Far, far better.

Equipped with an overexaggerated reputation of heroics, a variety of allies within the Equestrian High Command, and a hunk of junk airplane he calls a mobile home, Dobbelsteen Moerman will fight battles across all of Equestria to defend a home that isn't his.

For under his bravado and indomitable humorous attitude, a war for the right reasons is exactly where he has to be.

'Equestria At War' is a total conversion mod for the Grand Strategy game 'Hearts Of Iron 4', where various countries based on the My Little Pony Universe battle eachother using the equipment of the Second World War. The Adventures of Dobbelsteen Moerman is a light-hearted, though occasionally dark, exploration of the Equestrian-Changeling war through the eyes of a military attache sent from the Griffonian Empire as 'lethal aid'.

The royal court of Canterlot welcomes its newest member with open forelegs: the human philosopher Voltaire, from Earth.

On Earth, Voltaire is known as the greatest enemy of tyranny in the history of literature, and a legend in his own mind.

On Equestria, the court betting pool is giving him a week before the Princess banishes him to the Moon.

Note: This story doesn't have sequels per se, but there are a couple of short follow-ups set in the present day ("Parade Coverage" and "Secret Histories"), and a prequel of sorts in "At the Inn of the Prancing Pony".

Twilight Sparkle's coronation as the sole ruler of Equestria is right around the corner. To not disappoint her, Sunset Shimmer decides to come back to Equestria for the first time since her theft of the Princess's crown to attend.

Said Princess's student, Starlight, is there to greet her, but the two of them are surprised to find that Sunset is a princess herself - or at least an alicorn, and her arrival may have unintended consequences for a trio of recently imprisoned villains.

A Trot Through Vanhoover is a story set in the Equestria at War universe, with an emphasis on portraying two opposing perspectives of a conflict as a battle with almost certain results known in advance presses on.

If you're unfamiliar with the setting that is Equestria at War, it's a wonderful setting inspired by the grim realities of our own world wars contrasted with the cute, colorful ponies and other fantastical creatures of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. The setting was created for and is on full display in the mod of the same name for the grand strategy game Hearts of Iron IV. If that premise sounds interesting or hilarious to you, I highly recommend you check out their Reddit/Discord. It's some high quality work.

It is early spring of 1013. The tides of war between ponies and changelings have changed at last, with the bugs driven into a desperate retreat across Equestria. Private Nimble Green, an Equestrian riflepony and Sergeant Decimus, leader of a changeling support artillery team are both thrust into the second battle of Vanhoover. With the ponies of Equestria having gained the advantage after months of struggling, a changeling victory is highly unlikely. Unfortunately, just because the changelings are clearly losing does not mean they have given up the fight, and what follows is sure to be a sobering friendship lesson on the nature of the conflict for everypony involved.

This is a primarily a short story about stress, anxiety and the importance of parental affection in the development of young adults against a backdrop of political chaos and instability across the Griffonian Empire after a decade of wars; some large and some small.

If that name is unfamiliar to you, then I'm happy to explain that this story is based on a headcanon from the Hearts of Iron IV mod Equestria at War in which Duchess Gabriella and Duke Gerlach secure Griffenheim and rescue Grover VI from the talons of the Archon. From there they reconquer the empire and look after Grover VI as his wards, which gives us the backdrop to this short story.

I have also decided to flesh out this story, you can find the longfic version here which is currently receiving weekly updates, though that may be subject to change as my exams are coming up.

The following story takes place in the Equestria at War universe. It contains no real spoilers for any nation, and does not require any prior knowledge of EaW to understand. Enjoy!

Though Queen Chrysalis knew that changelings could live almost anywhere, she was still surprised to hear about an isolated island nation of changelings on the other side of the world. This was quite the interesting development, as she was currently waging war with Equestria.

She had wondered if these foreign changelings might be interested in helping with her subjugation of ponykind. Though she had long since dissolved her diplomatic channels due to perceived incompetence, Chrysalis wanted to send some form of emissary to ask them to aid her cause.

And thus she sent one of her spies to visit Greneclyf, the island of harmonious changelings.

This story is a sequel to From the Dawn of Time

With the spring thaw of 6792AT (1008ALB in the Princess' Reckoning), the Socialist Republic of Skynavia launched a war that had been two decades in the brewing. With numerical parity, technological and doctrinal superiority and a devoted populace, the odds should have been vastly in their favour.
Reality however, is seldom so forgiving. Where the Skynavian command was divided and suffered from over-frequent reshuffles, the tribes united behind their Moot. Where the Skynavians expected to face spear waving barbarians, they met disciplined soldiers led by seasoned commanders.
This is not the story of the Battle of Firefly Bog, aid unlooked for in Braunles or even of a gruelling march through Ostfloy, however. This is a story about the aftermath of war in a world close to ignition point.
