Aww man we don't get to see Lily and her epic fight against abomination Artemis, I was looking forward to that.
Nevertheless, this was a good chapter and it was nice to see the after effects of the possession.
It would be a real shame if Lily messed something up and there was still a lingering bit of shadow in Artemis, but I doubt that.
Did Songwell admit to the negligence because of a bribe or due to blackmail? I can't remember.
Depending on why he admitted to the crime will determine for me if he's actually a good guy or just going to act as a spy for Bitsmount.

Songwell's official defense was that he was being too much of a penny-pincher on safety when Bitsmount pressured him to increase mine productivity.
These ponies who ran the mine should be thankful that they are not facing off against the modern safe organization of today, OSHA and MSHA. They can and will charge you for any corporation for safety violation.
10740303
Oh what I mean is did Bitsmount bribe Songwell to take the blame or did Bitsmount use some sort of blackmail?
Has that not been revealed, or am I misremembering things because I thought it was Bitsmount who was cutting expenses?
Whoa, Artemis was super unprofessional and dangerous there. I'm a little surprised Anon just kind of shrugged it off.

10740326
Ah. Yes, Songwell was bribed by Bitsmount.
10740334
Anon's experience with politics is likely limited to movies and TV shows, where the whole "the hero intimidates someone with threats of lethal violence, but it's okay because the hero wasn't actually going to do it" is pretty common.
Kinda hoping this all goes for the best for Songwell. If he isn't some sort of sabatuer or spy for Bitsmount, I'll be ecstatic! Fingers crossed for reformation. 🤞🤞
Speaking of reformation (sort of), I hope Artemis works the devil out of herself and is able to find a stable place mentally to separate her comparative urges and the darker ones she's been exposed to. Honestly, I know it's a clandestine operation but I feel she (and Glam) should at least tell Anonymous about their weird shadow training should it become something that needs more attention before we get a secret Nightmare Shower/Spear by accident.
And lastly.... Wonder how the chat with Kilfeather will go 👀
Cripes, girl! Take it down a notch! Ebonshield is supposed to be the dark and edgy member of the group!

I guess he's more likely to feel the danger of the situation if it was a gun? The amount of damage the lance would do is much higher, but 21st century conditioning has us seeing firearms as a much more immediate threat. I imagine he hasn't really seen death since arriving, so the threat of a lance is still kind of abstracted.
10740326
Bitsmount did, but his forepony Songwell took the fall to make sure things were 'gentled' and Bitsmount could keep doing parties.
Thing is, Bitsmount has to keep clean now or otherwise if the pattern continues, that's evidence to the contrary that Songwell is innocent.
10739541
Despite the fact that I'm not really one to swear, I have definitely heard that word used in such a context before, and it's not uncommon either. Thus it is definitely not "wrong". I feel you may be the main one confused by its usage. Remember: just because you are unfamiliar with something, that doesn't make the unfamiliar inherently wrong. That's a potentially dangerous trap to fall into.
Also, using phrases such as 'no one uses....' or 'everyone feels...' are often fallible expressions to use when attempting to make a point, as only a single negation is necessary to prove the point to be invalid.
10740435
As much as I appreciate the correctness of your response, there is wisdom in letting sleeping dogs lie.
Looks like all of the shadow wasn't purged from Artemissssss...
Bad enough throwing around kilo crucibles for induvidual casting of parts, or ton stuff for engines and cannon barrels, but Anon is already looking towards Sheffield Forgemasters or Tata Scunthorpe Giga plants? Steel production complexes so large they dwarf the towns built to hold thheir working population, and when the city grows to size, they remain the eyeball in the head?
I wonder where Anon is going to get enough intelligent high teen and young adult dragons that are not too dumb, to handle the conversion floor and assist the casting shop?
As for Songwell, the sooner he fesses up to Anonymous about his deal with Bitsmount the better. Anon might even keep his secret assuming double jeopardy exists in Equestria.
10740451
I think he was talking about bat ponies not dragons.
Well, now we may get a firsthoof look at what hooks the vampires placed around the Bitsmount operations...
10740458
Perhaps, but dragons may be less prone to incineration when exposed to molten metal. He should really look into getting a couple just for their ability to wade in and go talons-on in those dire edge cases.
Now I'm wondering how nutritious slag is for a dragon. Would be hilarious if it was a delicacy.
10740521
I've been wondering for years what dragon excrement is like. Could you get rare alloys by feeding a dragon a very specific diet? Or just slag?
Either way, then I feel like a creep for imagining going in the privy after Spike or Smolder or Ember to get samples to satisfy scientific curiosity.
According to Lauren Faust, Earth could solve it's helium shortage with assistance from Pegasai, so maybe the Dragonlands might be interested in metalurgical research and trade cooperation.
10740458
Dragons wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea, though. Molten steel being what it is, and dragons being dragons, one would need to consider if dragons treating the crucibles as hot tubs on break time would affect the foundry’s final product of course...
This should be an interesting arrangement with Songwell around the group.
I wonder if that shadow has left any lasting impacts on other feelings in Artemis besides bloodlust...
Regarding Anonymous’s reaction to Artemis’s behavior, I feel it’s easy to overlook two points: it’s not as though he could look into her head with us and thus actually know what she was thinking and feeling right then and there, so he probably figured she knew what she was doing and was in control all along, and he’s still not all that familiar with the finer points of pony etiquette himself. Plus of course (point #3, if you will) it’s not as though he was actually all that pleased to have Songwell pushed onto his team either.
That said, given a bit of time to reflect once the immediate adrenaline rush has worn off that point may well come up in conversation again.
Hopefully the possession will be in a flashback later.
As Finn 4578 said we were all looking forward to it.
Other possibility is that we are still on the moon she's just hallucinating which would explain the odd behavior all around.
She seems to be having side effects from being possessed but doesn't seem to put any priority to asking about that at any point.
They are inside when she threatens to use the lance and she isn't immediately stopped by mc.
Mc is sent the worst known pony for safety after asking for an assistant to help with his foundry.
Something really bad is gonna happen, isn't it?
Whoohee, I know a butt-chewing when I see one, and boy did Anon do a number on him. Nothing like good old intimidation.
For reference, here's the sort of mill Anonymous may have been involved with.
Astonishing really.
Nooo not another tasty cliffhanger
Infinite sus on Songwell
10740607
Great point. Artemis is a VERY short fuse right now, and with tensions high, she could explode at any moment...
10740592
Yeah, the thought of this being a hallucination is definitely interesting. The Accursed Shadow trying to make her willingly go through with an attack on her friends, perhaps. Who's to say where this will go...
10740299
Agreed. When this chapter started I was like “Wait, did I miss something?” And then the realization that that part had been skipped.
It's about to go down
Fact 1: Griffons eat meat.
Fact 2: Equines are opportunistic carnivores.
Fact 3: Artemis enjoyed the blood until she knew what it was.
Fact 4: Lily always be looking like a snack.
Based on these facts, I can only assume Artemis is being perfectly rational in her dream to eat her friends alongside her friends.
So top tier weapon program, a future for the Equestria and Celestia chooses to send in a criminal to support Engineer with this. Outcounting too cynical reasoning for this i am sure that is going to burn better ponies who have dedicated their lives in being competent, reliable and professional. They have been sidelined by Celestia for whatever reason.
Artemis needs some good old fashion exorsism performed by Anonimous... if you catch my drift
Things are getting tense again so quickly.
Things are really heating up! I am so up for more of this great story!
Artemis wasted after her shift...
10741104
Celestia believes in redemption and second chances, perhaps to a fault.
And having the ones who brought the 'bad pony' to justice also oversee their redemption is in line with her character. No different than having the Element Bearers oversee Discord.
I see only two possibilities: the slimy little worm is going to try to bribe them to take a dive or he's going to try to bribe/blackmail his way onto the team. I don't think his ego could handle having his team publicly shown up by another (least of all one who already kicked their once in private ass) in the big game.
Nice timing with the last musical option, by the way. I just got that game very recently.
10740992
Valid points all. Though I'd personally prefer the plato principal.
10741154
Gotta slay the demons somehow
10741154
"The power of Pelvic Thrust compels thee!"
10742112
10741154
“Flee in the name of Jizzus!”
. . . Well, if I wasn’t going to Hell before. . .
10743929
Sure. But all are fairly short
Well, it took me a few days but I finally got to the (currently) last chapter. I'll be honest, at first I had a bit of trouble getting into the story, but once I was in, it was impossible to put down. The characters are interesting, the descriptions are wonderful, the writing is technically superb (barring the occasional extremely minor error), and the adaptation of the MLP universe in such an intriguing way is nothing short of a masterstroke. This story truly deserves the highest praise. I have read fully published works from accredited authors that weren't even a fraction as entertaining as this piece of fanwork. I deeply look forward to more of this amazing tale, and I wholeheartedly salute the efforts of the magnificent author whom created it.
So Artemis is dealing with the aftermath of the possession still while more intriguing ponies are coming to the foray with meeting Anon. Should be interesting reading in the next chapter.
10742112
It's just a jump to the left!
And then a step to the right.
With your hooves on your hips.
You pull your knees in tight.
But it's the Pelvic Thrust...
That really compels thee.
LET'S EXORCISE ONCE AGAIN!
LET'S EXORCISE ONCE AGAIN!
For music beat:
Oh darnit...
Oh DARNIT...
Ooookay... somepony is up for a bloodbath... xD
I hop he understand...

BONK
"What was that noise?" A terrified guardstallion said.
"Nothing to worry about I'm sure, just some kids playing with sticks." Said the captain. She didn't have time for this today.
"It was awfully loud ma'am, and close..."
BONK
There was a loud screaming noise, then a cartoony sound like an uncoiled spring, followed closely again by a loud Scotsman:
"Don't come wide with me, ya pint sized mutt"
"Maybe we should go check it now—" DOUBLE DONK "—before it gets too out of hand. If you please, ma'am." Said the guardstallion, ever-the-more terrified than before.
"That was a loud noise, but I'm sure its fine—"
"Thanks for standing still, wanker"
The captain's eyes suddenly turned red. It didn't matter that the sound was directed at someone else, nor that the word wanker was meaningless to her. She knew an insult and a curse when she heard one, and she would not have such noises on his lordship's foundry grounds.
She said then, in a voice the poor private had never heard before, something loud, that was almost inside your head.
"You failed. Stalemate."
There was a cacophonous outcry of disapproval, but – sure enough – no more bangs, or curses, were heard and peaceful was guard duty once more.
The guardstallion was very confused.

Hah. Depends. My wife took a hard stance with her workplace's bosses for their spitting on COVID safety regulations and exposing all of their workers, causing several to become infected, and infect their families, meanwhile they stayed home and worked from home - something they said was impossible to allow for the employees. "They'd just slack off."
They fired her for pointing out to other employees that they have certain rights when it comes to COVID. Bosses flipped out screaming that she was trying to destroy the company, she's a plant from a rival company, etc. etc. They used that excuse to make it so she couldn't get unemployment.
OSHA took a year to get back to us only to say they've closed the case and are supporting the bosses. Who are incredibly rich and entitled old people, don't give raises, skimp benefits as much as they possibly can while still being able to say they've got some, and screw over anyone who isn't in their friend-circle, no matter how terrible said 'friend' employee is to everyone else and total lack of work in the workplace. Even did nothing after finding out a male employee they liked did... unspeakably horrible things to the kindly and sweet janitor lady's daughter, no - worse than you're thinking.
So I'm really not that trusting in OSHA, that they uphold the powerful old rich guys' bullshit and did nothing to punish them for their illegal conduct in regards to workplace safety.
