Well, duh, who else would it be? Faust?
This DADT business gets stupider the deeper we delve into it, is there really so much xenophobia swirling around that we have to segregate one portion of the population from another for fear of blood and ruin? And the idiocy of that question should illustrate how bad an idea this is.
neat
Deeper and deeper into the Bat-pony quandary we go!
10536882
Regardless of how practical and counterproductive DADT might or might not be, it will be further looked into and its origins in further chapters.
I didn't knew Luna was Beetlejuice
10536882
DADT's real life intent was to bury a problem of perception. What perception, we wonder, are the Canterlot brass trying to bury?
AHAHHAHAHAH
10536897
I thought don't ask don't tell only applied to sexuality and Military operations.
10536931
DADT was a real life attempt to prevent the social stigmas and concerns of homosexuality in the military from impacting operations and unit cohesion, on the presumption that knowing that a person was gay would negatively affect the performance of the fighting forces. From Ebonshield's POV segments regarding the Royal Engineer, we know that this is not a stigma or prejudice in Pony society.
10536918
Bat Ponies are very gentle in nature
10536918
Rampant mango embezzlement?
10536931
I am not sure in which Chapter has already been clarified but the DADT Policy prevents any members of Equestrian Military from speaking of or inquiring anything about Bat Ponies at large to the point that even the blabbermouth rumor-mill that is Glamerspear didn't know there hundreds of Bat Ponies living under Canterlot Mountain and almost everything related to the Night Guard remain a mystery even to higher ranked level officials like Lieutenant Violetta.
lol Ebonshield is becoming my favorite so far. The headbutting custom is one I can appreciate.
Oh snap, it's Moonhorse O'clock!
For ponies with so many pointy parts about them, hitting with a guaranteed smooth surface (and one that will hurt the one doing the hitting as well) seems like a perfectly reasonable way to express disagreement.

anon getting ready.
Also oh boy a call from the boss itself, that is never a good sigh, perhaps he accidentally did something with his inspection to the mines that shock some hives and now Luna was force to do some crown control instantly putting Anon in trouble.
Fingers cross it will only be a warning this time.
Glamerspear being agressively friendly, lol
"No, we are friends here and we'll deal with it in calm and rational manner, till everyone is happy and content. GOT IT?!"
Why is their pet name for the princess a 'state secret'?
10537022
I don't think it a pet name
Who else was at the end thinking:
"O fuck! What a fitting guest for the night..."
Beautyful chapter and damn... That a brilliant story lore piece to enjoy!
No time to fix the bloody head wound...
Will Luna notice it?
Who's gonna spill the spaghetti in front of Luna?
10537005
I was thinking that the Princesses might want Anon to be in the court for the Bitsmount hearing, which would likely throw a wrench in Bitsmount and Songwell's plan to avoid Luna's magic. She also might want to check up on how he is doing with a Ebonshield if she had a part in putting her in his guard detail.
10537052
Could be, and hey maybe they are good friends I mean both are fish out of the water, in that in a sort of kind of way he is currently on an exile type of deal and she better than anyone else know what it feels to be alone.
So she might want to extend ah…I want to say wing? a wing in friendship and companionship if he wishes to talk about those feelings…and maybe join him or him her on stroke to the park or something similar.
Something simple like that, like best buddies, kind of wonder. Would Equestria has nocturnal carnivals? because if they do that would be perfect for them to go have a good time!
It's amazing how much you can work with a happy, almost inocent, universe and still be able to give it the twists and turns that are needed for the plot to have structure, like court intrigue, mistresses, betrayals, corruption and xenophobia.
can't wait for the next chapter
10536963
LOVE that expresion, i'm using It in The future
We are here to see The royal engineer. His attendance in court is required. In addition to his witness statements and expert reports. We desire for our Royal Engineer to design for us a new locomotive that is both rapid in movement and... shal we say, less pastel in countenance.
Soundtrack for the next chapter:
Alternativ:
More of a alternative guy this time around...
O dear, something is seriously rotten in the realm of Darkmerk.
10537022
That's explained pretty soon, don't worry.
10536963
Time to bring out the good stuff!
This is great and I'm so excited for the next chapter.
10536965
"I disagree with you"
"Rude, just headbutt me."
I didn't really like her when she first appeared, but man, Ebonshield is really starting to grow on me.
Nice to see Lily getting over her prejudice. I guess Eb is considered a sellout by her people. That’s sad. The ol’ crabs-in-a-bucket mentality.
10537108
Hell yeah, "Ozar Midrashim" is always epic.
Yeah, that’s a mind-bogglingly stupid policy if the powers that be want to foster greater cohesion and trust between the two guard forces. 100% responsible for why there’s so much distrust and suspicion there, for sure.
Ohherewego
10536909
Goood yes excellent I look forward to the next chapter. Also like how Bound makes no mention of Ebonshield bleeding. Very Curious. Did she choose not to bring it up? Did she not notice it? Did the author just no put it in? Cause if it was on purpose and she didn't notice it, I can see why she's still beating herself up about the Bridge battle with missing details like that. Surely it would at least garner a 'what's going on her?'. But I'm rambling and pointing out nothing important. Still a great chapter.
10537050
10537480
I don't think Ebonshield actually lost any blood from the headbutt. Only Marcos was stated to have bled a little. Nobody else at all mentioned any visible injury on her. It seems to me that she's just that amazingly hard-headed.
10537561
Exhibit A
"You're bleeding!"
" I don't got time to bleed"
Ooh! I'm getting excited again!
I half want an addendum where one of the group other than honor screams “she knows!” and jumps out a window. Which may involve running down a hall or two I suppose.
coincidense ? i think not ! xD
Speak her name, and she will come.
10537069
Do you read Estee?
10536743
Yeah, it's true that he's said he's not a SOLDIER, that's an Army thing. Neither the Navy nor the Marines call themselves soldiers, though. In the Navy, it's "sailor" or "seaman," and in the Marines it's, well, "Marine."
Well, that is a sure coincidence, isn't it?
What's that quote...?
'Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.'
