She's a thrillseeker. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
(Also, there is a system of bracing pads and tie-down straps hidden under the seat cushions, set up so nopony outside will see them when in use.)

...wow, that's an odd one to make -- and to miss! Fixed!
So the Lootenant promoted someone just after Sparks left!
Gravity magic to affix herself to the carriage?
Either that or her phat butt does it automatically anyway.
A few spelling errors here and there, otherwise phenomenal my friend
Yes, it is big and crimson.
Probably makes her about 9 to 11 feet tall.
The strongest.
Easily.
Nothing stops the Unstoppable Juggernaut...

Thank you! Also... where?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

well, my computer is fixing it automatically, but the ‘fight’ in this line is spelled with two i’s so it says ‘fiight’
Well, we have our bases everyone, now it a question if his imagination will make him ponder ideas for slight modification, like a repulsion blast for the shield or a retractile head for the hammer so to turn it into a gun with a long barrel, or heck be able to fuse the two so he transform them into a massive shield in case a massive hit is needed.
Generally the point of heavy armor is to be well protected enough to risk forgoing the active defense of a shield and upgrade to a two handed polearm like the poleaxe or halberd. Axe head for cutting, point for thrusting, small hammer head on the back to deal with other people in armor, all with the leverage and extended reach of the spear. Then again, I'm not sure if bronze can make something like that durable enough for the punishment it would be put through, but i don't know if the material has been put to that kind of test.
Also with Pegasi and Unicorns likely relying on odd angles of attack and ranged assaults I can see favoring a shield and anti-armor one handed weapon if two thirds are likely to have ranged attacks and Earth Ponies would likely be heavily armored anyway. I wonder if Minotaurs have the kite shield or if they favor some other design.
10575073
If the pegasi did the wild ride deliberately they might just hint in on the fact they fucked up and pranked a bit too much.
And hey, a correct use of russian with "Banya"! Nice.
:V
Arguably the worst punishment for those not used to it, and the best relaxation for the freaks who are.
Not sure if Heavy Armor + Tower(?) Shield + Warhammer is a good combination.
Even assuming the duel's taking only a little bit of time, and the fact that armor is far more mobile than one would think it is, hitting shit with any manner of reliability would be hard as ass with such a set.
Ponies are pretty damn mobile, even the non-flying variants, after all. So are Gryphons.
But, at least this is not a flail. Fuck those things with a ten-foot-pole, occupational hazard shit.
And that the warhammer doesn't need strength to hit well as the mass media implies is nice too.
Long handle = lots more force after all.
Hm.
A long axe might have been a good choice, too.
With a right shape of a head it'd have had a better penetration of armor than a sword, while still allowing for the modicum of cutting and ripping the warhammer won't.
Bronze though. I have no idea whether it's shit for anything Steel isn't.
10554967
Hah I called it exactly -- a mace it is for Sir Anon.
A hand-and-a-half sword (1 handed) has the same reach as a longest hafted Mace fyi....
but a Mace is a good choice for a more defensive combatant
10575122
The kite shield was originally favoured due to its ability to protect a mounted warrior's legs, which iirc it was well suited to because it covered the most area for the least weight. However, if the Minotaurs don't have much in the way of mounted warriors then they would probably be far better suited with a round shield or a roman style scutum, which provide far better overall protection and can more easily form a shield wall (which was the primary formation of note during the middle ages).
10575147
Making a bastard sword out of bronze is probably not a great idea. I wouldn't even really suggest making one out of iron.
...Good choice of weapon and armor...but seriously, you look RIDICULUS!
Would bronze work for a naginata, I wonder. It is a defensive weapon for keeping a foe at a distance. No shield required.
10575147
Yeah, but as Anonymous points out, bronze doesn’t lend itself well to long blades...at least not ones that are supposed to stay straight for long in combat. Spear points and short swords (up to perhaps a two-foot blade, if I’m getting my reference to the Greek xiphos right), okay, but for anything longer you’ll really want a metal that’ll flex rather than bend.
There’s also one small aspect to the mace that to my understanding makes it a potentially good beginner’s weapon: you don’t have to worry about edge alignment so much because all sides of the head hit the target equally hard. You don’t get that with a sword or even a hammer. Plus, with heavy armor and a shield reach should hopefully be less of a factor since it seems to me that you’d have an easier time just wading in and slugging away once you get there in that.
UH-HUH

a naginata might work, if the blade is held short, the biggest problem would be maneuverability, it's a long-reach weapon and Anon is not as nimble as a pegasi, I would say no, it's not suitable for this sitiuation...
10575161
For minotaurs I would think they would favor the scutum over something like an aspis (which is only really practical in phalanx formations), but for non formation combat the like of which Anon would find himself in, I think the kite shield would be better as it's more maneuverable and has many options for how it is held including multiple strap configurations and center grip option.
10575206
You can still get a pretty long bronze sword with certain engineering features. In contrast to steel swords which often have a fuller or cut out section to reduce weight, some bronze swords have a central ridge that reinforces the weapon making it stiffer. And bronze can be sharpened and hardened up to where it could compete with mild steel.
10575184
The naginata isn't really any more a defensive weapon than any other polearm, and many polearms have defensive features bigger than just a tsuba and slightly curved blade such as actual hooks or wings to catch an opponents weapon or limb and disarm them at a distance. I'd recommend something like the billhook if you're looking for an especially defensive polearm.
Also there are apparently some Chinese bronze polearm called the dagger-axe or confusingly translated as a halberd.

There is no such error in the original manuscript; you may be having memory issues with your system.

We all know Steel is superior and Iron is Brittle.
Bronze Swords & spears were a VERY common, and they worked. But as Bronze is still relativity soft, the maintenance & practicality makes it a pain in the arse.
The comment, was LESS about the material and MORE the fact that even a "Short Sword" would have the same reach as a average length mace. This is ignoring the reach of half & a half swords I referenced earlier that even the longer hafted maces would have issues reaching without leaving the user's arm completly vulnerable.

Take shad with a pinch of salt, he tends to get the general overal seemingly right with things but at same time way off the mark.
He is useful for a introduction, but really be careful as he is often wrong.
This is because he hardly ever use any primary sources and relies on secondary or even tircery sources.
For example this vid is one of many that highlights the issues with his claims/videos.
I would have linked a vid of my group's leader who has a Master's Degree in History, but he seems to have taken it all down for some reasonAlso, a billhook isn't defensive- it's a very offensive weapon. If it is a military grade billhook (not an iron levy weapon) you use it primarily to hook shields, limbs, ect to allow those around you to kill/injure the person.
10575161
It is worth pointing out, Kite Shields work AMAZINGLY even when dismounted. There is a reason that all dismounted infantry of Anglo-Norman armies were issued with one beyond simple logistics.
You can also form a far more effective static or mobile shieldwall with a kite than a round shield.
A good question, because if we ignore the flight alone then the landing of the sky carriage reminds me of 3-2-1 Penguins landing gear attempts.
10575241
You seem well informed. I did not know that Bronze swords could be strengthened in such a way. Thank you for your insight.
I’d not be surprised if Celestia didn’t just teleport to the carriage when it touched down.
Kite Shields are great, but given the race in question that's doing the work, and the over all tech level of the world, they might not have Kite Shields as a style yet, or the Minotaur race could favor a different style.

It's hard to argue with a mace if you're a beginner - it's a weapon that requires minimal skill but still hits very hard, and has anti-armor properties to boot. Don't forget, when the gun initially overtook the bow in terms of popularity, it wasn't because the gun was necessarily stronger. It was because it was almost as effective while requiring significantly less skill and training. Warriors can afford to take into account what weapons are effective at maximal efficiency; armies, on the other hand, need to account for the lowest common denominator. As the Engineer has clearly stated, being a warrior is not his primary or even secondary role, so something that he can get quick results with is important.
That being said, I'll admit to a great love of halberds. In the hands of someone with sufficient training, they're one of the few melee weapons that can suit just about any needed role.
10575348
Oh he knows his ratios, but when it comes to making steel, product in != product out; there's a lot of stuff in the in-between that he doesn't have a background in.
I like cow mother. Do they have any for rent?
10575211
I didn't even catch that. I'm a failure.
10575380
You were distracted by the absolute unit that was just introduced to us. All is forgiven.
10575367
I agree, I would likely expect some sort of round shield for him.
Yeah. That's totally the thing she's thinking about. Uh huh. For sure.

In regards to the defensive nature of the bill, that was from comment I was responding to considering the naginata as a defensive weapon for simply having the reach of a polearm. Long reach makes it harder for your opponents to hurt you and so is a defensive asset. Similarly, I consider a weapon feature designed to block, catch, or disarm an opponent's weapon defensive since those features make the wielder less in danger rather than the opponent more injured. A bill has such additional features features and so I considered the bill to have more defensive value than a naginata.
Ah, sensible kit. Anon could probably use a few pilum-style javelins with the traditional fouling style heads. While they're designed for shields, I imagine they'd do aces for pegasi and other fliers too. Boostable with an atlatl, too.
Or a sling. Lead sling bullets shouldn't be a problem. Either way, we monkeyboys are throwers.
I bet she’s pleased about that tidbit.
Think I'd go for the war hammer with a pick on the opposite end. However we are talking bronze weapons so the mace is a sound choice. Depending how long you've got on the grip you can choke up some to shorten your reach or slack up to lengthen. Giggity
Interested in style of shield myself. Buckler would be too small for heavy armor and the types of opponents he'd face. Decent sized round shield would probably be the way to go. Heater and kite shields probably wouldn't work well with a mace and might not have the best shape to keep your opponent in view either. Keeping another person in view isn't too bad but waist high ponies could dodge around your blind spots a lot better than other humans.
10575538
Amen.
10575538
Slingshot though. More accurate than a sling.
I'm loving the sound of his load out plan, great chapter
10575451
Wait, she has one of those? BEST. Minotaur. Mommy.
10575707
10575274
i suppose so, just looked on my phone and there is no error... strange
full plate, a large shield, and a heavy mace. Anonymous will be getting a workout, that's for sure. Rather suits (hah!) him too, blunt and to the point, no frippery, just damage.
10575320
No, if anything I'm an HFY idealistic dumbass. A weeaboo would be obsessed with folded steel, green tea and other random bits stereotypically associated with Japan.
10575867
Ain't nothin' wrong with HFY
That Minatours female is like a amazon. Lucky bull
