The time has come....
Well here's hoping Anon can get Lily some steel spears at the very least. I wonder, can her conjured spears also replicate any chemical fillers? I imagine some APHE would be might interesting.
And with that, it looks like we can add the Sergeant Major Treechopper to the list of arrogant jerks who need to be put in their place by a certain VIP and four very loyal guardsmares.
And props to Sparkshower for not letting Treechoper’s bad attitude go unchallenged!
Oh good! The elite Valkyrie unit is pissed at them......fun times to be had lol
Imagine if Glamerspear called out her shadow during the match. That... could make Princess Luna take a ton of interest.

To be fair to her we have only seen her on a bad day, where her soldiers are thrown into combat against an unknown force for political reasons. That definitely ought to ruffle her feathers. Maybe she'll be more cordial on a better day.
Maybe this approach will be needed.
10715018
What is interesting is that if he can teach glamerspear to do Uranium spears, that new spell would be far more a weapon than the cart she rode in on.
10717850
The whirlwind skirted the line as a machine of war, given it was designed for civilian utility first, and retrofitted as an AA afterwards.
Introducing APHE shells would definitely be betraying both the letter, and the spirit of his promise.
10717937
I mean she is pushing him into a tournament to better it as a combat focused invention, directly opposing the promise she had him make.
I wonder how much chemistry etc Anon knows of.
Such as the many war forms of common flour?
Say’s little miss horn glow.
Hah! Tuft girl speaks out!
Shots fired!
...
Maverick
Absolutely magnificent chapter
Humor, storyline, battle of wills... Glorious
hmm did anyone else spot a dropped Checkoffs Gun?
What was that ticking? And then so much concern about possible fire on the cart. hmm any one else sensing a possible case of sabatage?
10717850
Maybe she can make some roman pilums? They were designed not to penetrate but bend and get stuck in shields and armor to encumber opponents.
RAISES the question.
Begging the question is a form of logical fallacy.
I will die on this hill.
Ha, a play on kicking boots?

You are right -- but Lily is exactly the kind of character who would use that phrase incorrectly.
Brute? Brute? In war there is winning or there is losing. If a bare-bones bludgeon is going to win you the fight, then don't fail to take full advantage!
10718309
As a master pedant, I fully support your crusade.
Just as I carry on my grandmother's fight for

APHE is cool all, but it's still gotta get get through the armor.
Teaching her to make a magical version of an APFSDS dart would be ideal. Velocity is primary variable in penetrating armor, the next is hardness and design of the projectile.
Velocity is why HEAT warheads perform so well against against armor. The explosively formed penetrator from the liner upon detonation moves between 3000-6000 m/s.
Last line Chief Bobbles

Whoops. Fixed!
Dammit, RE. Lewd those tiny horses!
On a side note, this story gets juicier by the second, so begins what feels like act 2.
Love this chapter
We're nearing 2,000 Likes!
I can't believe I started reading this story when it was only around 130K words or so. Time really does fly.
One great chapter, now we see the Valks are buthurt AND scared or at least aprehensive about them entering the fighting event: why would a Valk be worried about 4 mares in a car as to feel the need to try and make them feel threatened. I smell fear in the Valks
With all these varying levels of enemies this bunch is making, one would think this fic should be animated.
10718367
Pro tip- the biggest enemy of armour, especially plate, is blunt force as the force is simply transferred through the metal into whatever is below.
10718726
But there is SOME animation of it already
10717823
Execute Order 66!
Hehehe they are all in xD Anon could have a Herd if he wanted xD
Nice to know why he dosent ^^
Damnd right, lily...
What a great chapter it was! I cant wait for the
GGG. This will be fun. And after that an grand melee tounier!
10717850
I'd settle for teaching her about the wonderful world of proximity fuses...
10717850
I like how you think, my friend
Join me for a bath and bed?
Ha ha just joking!
Unless...
10717912
That’s true but it’s also true that first impressions matter and the impression that she left was not a particularly pleasant one. I certainly hope we have an opportunity to witness some of Treechopper’s more positive personality traits in future chapters; provided, of course, the Seargent Major actually possess them.
10718820
Where? I haven't heard anything about that, nt even for additional art of any kind.
10719142
Enjoy!

...ANOTHER THING TO HIS LITTLE LIST! NO STRESS!
Critical Strike Anon, well done!
eh, standard boot camp 'Captain', just more grumpy.
hmm...I wonder if she can conjure flak rounds? Is 'magically' possible right ?

Playing... playing with the mares
Staying... playing with the mares
10719154
Still fucking love these.
All the ponies have shadows. I wonder if Anon has a shadow or not?
10718819
And that's why a lot of armor pieces are designed in a way to reduce direct contact of armor to body, like the globular breast plates and helmets with suspensions in them. But blunt force is still overrated in transferring kinetic energy. Blunt force weaponry went the way of the dodo in HEMA long before swords due to advances in blade technology, armor technology, and projectile weaponry.
But if you're shooting at something armored, you want penetration. Remember Ek=1/2m(v2), so mass is always less important than velocity in transferring kinetic energy. And if Lily is fighting flying armored opponents, faster projos also equates to higher hit probability.
As long as we can have some lunch first.
10720693
Fixed.
10720199
Mate... HEMA really isn't a great reference point for this.
Blunt Force throughout the life of plate was the prefered method if you could not target the weak points (ie armpits), it's why you ALWAYS have padding under armour. And blunt force weaponry was still used all the way into the Napoleonic Eras....
For shooting/ranged, yes and no.
Look at how the British AP rounds worked in the Second World War- they were designed with spalling damage in mind first, then penetration. You don't need to penetrate armour to disable the wearer or crew
10720709
British high velocity AP offered mediocre performance; it shed energy too quickly to have any significant effect against armored targets. I'm not sure what the source for this was, but I heard that the 16" high velocity AP on HMS Rodney was less effective against Bismarck than the 6" secondaries.
