Update!
O shit... That warning ...
Hopefully that asshole gets a healthy dose of karma in the future. I would definitely be excited to see that happen.
NOT the right frame of mind for shadow magic.
Given that initial warning I was expecting something much, much worse...
At least Lily is....okay.
That was.... eugh. I get the feeling there's going to be a large confrontation between him and Anon during the Gala.
Damn this chapter did a major character development and this bad experience made her a better mare and pony overall.
Time for
Lily Glamerspear
to shine !
10768365
I'm with you there.
Whew boy, that was certainly something! An uncomfortable something.
at this point I was waiting for her to moan Anon's name. That would have been super awkward and wince-worthy.
Much like what actually happened to her Ram medal. Now that's a wakeup call if I ever saw one. Hopefully she takes her "I'm worth more than that" to heart and doesn't continue the salt-lick shtick. Or do it in a condition of equal power for both sides. Being the superior, or fucking the superior, are recipes for disaster when one gets too into it and the other can't pull the brakes to stop it. (Edit: ...without a huge loss of reputation, job, friends, and other social consequences. Lily has the ability to say no obviously, but can she do so against someone of Mailedhoof's rank without consequences? Felt I'd clarify that)
Though first she'd have to find a way to break it off with Mailedhoof somehow, that's going to be a challenge given the aforementioned power dynamic involved.
I know its probably not going to happen, but I really want to see Anons reaction to finding out about what just went down with Lily,
Honestly, good on Lily. There is a lot she is capable of doing, and I'm glad she is deciding to do right by herself.
Many many chapter ago, I once stated that Glammerspear deserved a lot better than this. I stand by that statement doubly after reading this chapter. And much like everyone else reading this story, I sincerely hope that some very serious retribution is in store for the soon to be former (late) Captain Mailedhoof.
At the very least, Lily has finally started to wake the hell up.
10768391
V.I.P. service. Also the Stallion has more to lose than the mare so when the tail chaser is confronted i doubt he would risk it. Besides hes a tail chaser and the hunt was already successful. He probably moves on and so will she. Both had there fun and there use out of it.
10768396
Why? Its her personal life. She can do what she want as long her duty is not compromised.
10768398
A harsh wake up call to a brighter future with shadow magic
10768401
I rather not. She played the submission role before over and over. Without a 'safe word' things like that happen. That why communications is the A&O to any relationship!
Now that got dark fast
A new antagonist has been forged.
Ick. Ick ick ick ick ick. I'm only a reader in this story and still I feel dirty. I'm glad Lily is realizing she can do so much better than jerkwads like this, because this particular douchebag needs to be dumped yesterday.
Oh dear, someone who justkeeps pushing that much further each time until something breaks?
This chapter left me feeling gross
Just jumping into this, and I can already tell that the whole Anon naming convention is going to be annoying, but I'll give it a try and see if I can get past it.
Give an inch, take a mile. Allow someone privilege, and they'll think they don't need a key.
He already has awareness up and a warning, but I feel there may yet be a point he pushes it and bursts his own bubble.
Either he is gonna risk it all without thought for another "quickie", or he is gonna get dropped and come back with one of the other enemies.
Some folks never notice how high up they've gone until lack of air forces vertigo on them hard, and as a pegasus, Maildhoof is gonna have a long fall or a hard landing.
10768495
If only things were so simple; privelege is an actual status of the nobility, and Montgomery Mailedhoof, as a noble, has it.
10768496
Which is why I would have just killed him.
10768457
Usually how it is. Some people are like Lily, consensual and fun, and others.... well, they're stuck in a rush. Trapped thinking that "its okay" because they're getting compensated, unaware of the mental degredation and erosion of will.
Others just want to feel wanted if only for a moment. Its a rough time for folks like that.
i.imgflip.com/55izg3.jpg
But besides that, I'm starting to see a pattern...
First was Sparkshower, now Lily... Is Honour going to be next, with her relationship with Castlerook falling apart? And they will then all try to turn to Anon?
I kinda ship Anon hard with his Choco-pone, but the (possible) fallout with Castlerook is going to be sad :S
10768520
And then you'd be hanging from a gallows by the next evening. Because he's a noble in an aristocracy as well as your high-ranking superior officer.
You know, I bet a pony skin rug would look great in the engineer's office.
10768365
Anon, nothing. Wait till Sparks finds out. Country folks have a very measured response to that type of thing. It is measured by calibre.
10768601 If that is true, how did those people ever win wars? Letting sexual predators and rapists run wild with no constraints or consequences hardly seems conducive to a functional military or a lawful society.
10768614
Nah. Far too quick and waaay too painless. But as far as the rug, I wouldn't put it in the office. It'd go in the bathroom, oriented so you could dribble on it whenever you hit the can, and use the tail as a toilet brush.
10768449
Not really. Its a simple work relation gone bad.
He most likely overstep his bounds without knowing, or perhaps in the worst case not caring.
10768457
Guess its a Tirek event situation. Damage needed to be done for character growing and development.
10768460
So far she never explicit told him off. For all he knows she might have a bit of a streak for it.
This will change soon.
He accepts it and moves on or make a ass of himself.
We will find it out eventually...
10768496
We will she if he is decent enough to leave thing be ones her former salt lick tells him of or not. But since he is tail chasing on a regular basis i think hes going for hunt, enjoyment and leaving things alone ones they fall apart. Why care for one mare if another salt lick is around the next conor...
10768538
That why thinks like 'boundarys and safe words' always need to be established.
10768579
Wonder if Choco pone fines out hes dragging decent earthponys trough the mud... Bad move to fight a earth pony on there home turf... Very bad move
10768601
True but messing with the Blue counsel member is something even a nobel cant do without problems. Pretty sure Anons pull is far more effective than that aged wonderstuds.
10768606
Your profile avatar gives your comments quite some depth... Well chosen 👍
10768639
There are constraints and consequences. Not every officer was a rapist and not every rape was gotten away with. But even modern well-run militaries under-report sexual assault, while other improprieties may be swept under the rug.
Imagine how much worse it was an age with a shrinking, but still gaping, social divide between noble officers who bought their way into their position (no formal training required) and the mass of rabble of a bunch of teenage peasants almost press-ganged into service.
The only upside was that in Europe in just about every war, the other army had the same inefficiencies and lack of discipline.
10768614
Celestia and Luna might disagree...
10768639
Sexual predators are depending on context good or bad. Rape is a strong word. Dont forget she is a trained guard with a vip that has pull...
Also concent and non-concent are closer to eatch other than one will like them to be.
Its really a complicated situation and dynamic
10768650 Disgusting, but fair enough I suppose. Still seems lax, but while I am from a militray family and have close Marine friends, I am not in the military myself. So I understsnd that I don't know everything that happens in the service. It just seems that Kilfeather is getting away with waaaaay too much.
10768652
What century/country are you living in? Imperial Japan? In what possible context are sexual predstors ever a good thing!?
10768653
Except he hasn't really done anything except act like he's untouchable. Which he is, by virtue of him being a key piece in an ongoing culture war inside the Royal Guard, between the new academy-educated officer corps and the old purchased-commission nobility.
This was a real culture war in Victorian times, with the nobles at first looking down upon the commoner graduates of the artillery school (the original officer education school for the British Army). But after the disasters of the Crimean War (and other 19th-century conflicts), when it became clear that too many officers had no idea what they were doing, public opinion and government leadership turned against the purchase of commissions and towards the creation of an exclusively professional trained officer corps.
10768653
As his former marefriend stated. Hes not a idiot and quite competent. Knowing ones limit and knownlage of regulation and loopholes makes a lot of difference.
10768656
Context is everything. Its makes right-wrong, evil-good and inacceptable-accepteble.
Roleplay for instance. Glamerspear actualy described 'the game' quite in detail. They have a role play relationship. Given it get out of hand but in the end she was given the option to stop it. Consequences given - yes, but its still there.
What she will do in not to mutch time it seems.
10768661 But he has done something unexplained, unwanted, violent, and sexual to Lily. Not sure how else to think of it. Sexual predator just fits. Unless you want to explain explicitly what occurred.
10768669 Did you completely miss the part where she said no and he got VIOLENT and tried to FORCE her to do it for his entire squad?
10768675
We don't actually know what Valiant did in detail. Lily is not necessarily a reliable narrator for the rest of the Quaternion, either.
On a different note, chapter 130 has been given a light editing pass to correct spelling, grammar, and straggling 'You's.
10768675
You take out the context, situation and there overall relation to eatch other. Also since this is text format might i ask if you feel personaly attacked? Text messages are hard to/for interpretation sometimes.
10768670
Glamerspear actualy described the story. The Act, the games and more. Also why she ditched him why and what came of it. You seem to have skipped, ignored or maybe misremembered it?
well that got dark
10768669
No.
You need to learn what Justice actually is as a foundational concept of society.
While context is important to understand most things, there are some that have no acceptable context.
If you do not understand how to tell the difference, you cannot effectively identify the rise of evil until it becomes overt and drawing your own blood as you cry for mercy.
10768670
At a raucous drunken party, after duty hours and possibly even off-base, Kilfeather tried to get Lily to do something she didn't want to do. It's implied to have been some sort of group or exhibitionist sex involving him and his male buddies.
That sort of stuff still happens today, and depending on the people involved and the people in charge of those people, often enough it gets swept under the rug. Things much worse than that can result in a mere slap on the wrist; for example, in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, which involved very nonconsensual physical interactions, most perpetrators only received minor sentences. The Brigadier-General in charge of the facility was demoted to Colonel and kept on; his Colonel was fined $8000 and booted from the military but received no prison time, while a Lt. Colonel had the charges dismissed. A bunch of enlisted soldiers and NCOs got demotions or prison sentences of at most a few years. Lyndee England, the Private First Class from the infamous "thumbs-up" and "leash" photos, got 3 years, demotion to Private and dishonourable discharge. She served less than a year and half before being paroled.
Think of what a superstar prize-winning officer, the trusted agent of one of the major players in a heated political battle, would be likely to get for merely attempted sexual assault (with possibly some physical assault and battery) at a private non-sanctioned non-work party. The answer even today is, unfortunately, "probably nothing".
10768681 Personally attacked? Not at all. But I do have a very strong opinion and sense of justice, especially about sexual misconduct. My wife was abused by someone close to her and her ex-boyfriend, so my opinion on the matter is pretty strong.
10768690 Okay, fair enough. It is your story.
To be perfectly clear, I really like the story and I would not be this involved or animated or excited if I were not emotionally invested in the characters.
The pacing is exquisite.
The main characters are realistic and have flaws.
The environment is described with enough detail to imagine, but not so much so that it boggs down the story.
The world-building is highly intriguing.
My only real complaint is that the side characters seem pretty one-dimensional, but that is very common and not much of a big deal.
10768687
I have a story or three on Fimfiction that would offer quite the different view.
Justice is no universal thing. It literally changes by nation, individual belives and often situation.
Ever played Phoenix Writhe Ace Attorney? There are even on youtube 2 MLP fan projects i strongly recommend.
Murder cases that are so complex it blows ones mind...
10768690
A simpel sad fact... Being rich, famous and/or influencial do make justice or laws obsolete if its not worth the trouble
10768692
My condolences. Still my argument seems valid.
Its all a thick gray area and unfortunately not white or black unless the context makes it appers so...
10768698
True.
10768700 The fact that you are German makes your views on the allowances of sexual misconduct and abuse even more puzzling. Germany has some pretty strict laws about such things, from what I understand. In any case, I believe this may be a case of agreeing to disagree and leave it alone. To be clear, I have no personal grievance with you for any reason, I just disagree with some of the things you said.
10768706
Agreed. Its to complex of a topic for a comment section conversation.
Also laws are strict but laws are never absolut nor are they universal.
Killing someone for instance can be:
-Murder
-Self defense
-A accident, of several Categories depending on circustances etc. etc.
Lets hope next chapter is more fun and less ... ...
Grim
10768717 On THAT we agree. Good conversation and have a pleasant afternoon/evening.
10768645
I've been getting a lot of comments on that today.
10768723
It's nice to see siblings getting along.
10768723
Dito. It was quite the little adventure we had
Check out the MLP x Ace Attorney fan projects. There awesome
Thirst - Rainbowdash is accused of murder.
Second - Somepony else we all know as a side character
