Traveling the world can be a strange and dangerous ordeal, especially when you're all but on your own.
And after one adventure ends in almost complete disaster, Twilight Sparkle has decided to take a much-needed vacation for both herself and her sole companion. Some time to themselves, some time to catch up on their reading, and some time to not almost be eaten by dragons. And fortunately, she's managed to come across a nice quiet little country town to settle her roots into for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, it's never quite that easy. Especially when your name is Twilight Sparkle, a pony with a knack for getting mixed up in all sorts of trouble. And the quiet little town she has found might not be so quiet after all...

An alternate universe story based on some G5 rumors, this really odd dream I had once, and a few other things. Expect references/shoutouts to all sorts of MLP media, such as the movie or comics, and various other fantasy works like D&D. But also expect some major instances of me changing things to further distinguish this from canon. Spike is a pretty good example. You'll figure out why soon enough.

Dusk Spectre's veteran experience as a Lunar Legionnaire can only go so far to prepare him for when a routine patrol through the Everfree Forest goes badly wrong, and an ensuing fight for survival becomes the situation for him and his squad.
Now surrounded by unholy magical monsters craving for the taste of Ponies, will their skill and resolve be enough for them to escape to safety? Or will the God-Empress' protection abandon them, their enemies too strong and numerous, condemning them to die standing as soldiers?
In an attempt to put to rest a nagging question Twilight keeps bringing up, Rainbow Dash agrees to do some genealogical research into her family tree. Imagine her surprise when she finds out that Daring Do is a part of it.
In fact, Daring Do isn't some distant relative or lost cousin, she's the younger sister of Windy Whistles. A revelation that has never before been disclosed for reasons unknown.
Armed with this knowledge, Rainbow sets out to get some answers from none other than the newly discovered link herself, Daring Do. There must be a good reason why she's neglected to inform Rainbow of their shared connection all this time, right?

The clock is ticking. After being united in Canterlot's crystal mines, Twilight and Cadance, the real Cadance, must combat the threat of whatever infiltrated the alicorn's wedding, or risk losing not only Twilight's brother, but her friends, too. The solution will be difficult and the path fraught with danger, but with the power of love on their side, they can do anything. It will require a lot of love, though. Specifically, a love of bullets.
Another big thanks to EverfreePony for their editing prowess.
