For the past few weeks, Princess Celestia has been quite used to Daybreaker tempting her in her dreams. Unfortunately for Daybreaker, Celestia doesn't have much use for even greater power or the terrified fealty of others, and even threatening Celestia doesn't seem to perturb the princess in the slightest.

But Celestia wasn't prepared for a dream about making conversation over pancakes with Daybreaker. And she certainly wasn't expecting the loud-mouthed and melodramatic alicorn to be horrifyingly effective at crushing her will with breakfast and cold, twisted logic.

Though proud of her children, she can't deny that being known only as the mother to two of the most powerful ponies in all of Equestria hasn't been easy. She'd like to forget her doubts, though, and a riverboat cruise seems like the perfect opportunity.

But still: you can neither escape nor forget the life you lead, regardless of whether it's the one you thought you'd have. But that's not what matters. Sometimes it takes being on a riverboat to the sea to remember that.

A mare oscillating between extreme obsession and dislike of books, both having their roots deep down in her youth. Coupled with a name with such... literary meaning, the young sporty filly surely has a lot to deal with both at home and at school.

And yes, that’s a hyphen in the title.

During a quiet evening of stargazing, Princess Luna and a young Twilight observe the night with mutual contentment. A small flicker of light catches Twilight's attention, a strange anomaly in the sky. When she questions Princess Luna, Twilight is rewarded with a story — one both terrible and beautiful.

This story was written for Nightmare Moon 2017 Summer Contest.

Vinyl is invited to play at a new club in Canterlot, and invited Octavia along. An overwhelming bass, tons of rowdy ponies and the reek of sweat; definitely not the atmosphere Octavia typically found herself in. A few bad decisions later, the musical mare finds herself on the ground, head throbbing, all while Vinyl was looking down at her, apologizing profusely.
