Colonel Alex McKay and the troops of Strike-1 have been to hell and back. But when the energy wave from the destroyed temple ship transports their Skyranger to a strange new world, they have a lot to adjust to. Things like horrible aliens that are suddenly the most familiar things around, dodging plasma fire to defend pastel-colored ponies, and a magical land where the laws of nature are more like suggestions. The war against the Invaders just got weirder than they could have ever imagined. But it still needs them.

I am a United States Air Force fighter pilot. I'm supposed to be a fearless, balls to the wall man of unfathomable feats. But somehow, I was taken from my world during a simple, routine flight. Now that I'm stuck here, part of me wishes I could have done things differently... The other part wants to stay here in this peaceful land, surrounded by serenity. Hi, I'm Bruce and I'm 32. Currently, I'm in a light blue Earth Pony foal's body no one has ever seen before. The rest of Equestria thinks I'm 9 and something really traumatic happened to me. It doesn't help I swear like a sailor and I could really go for a smoke right about now. I just hope that the Everfree Forest, rampaging monstrosities, evil dark abominations against God and the Cutie Mark Crusaders don't kill me before I have just one last drag.

After the 'Canterlot Wedding' incident the Changeling swarm was scattered across the land, enslaved by pony warlords and slavers beyond the borders of Equestria. Weak, desperate and with only a dozen changelings to her name, Queen Chrysalis resorts to summoning one of the most obscure creatures in mythology; a human.

Thanks to zinger906 for giving me the idea for this story.

It is a common perspective among most species that changelings are, for the most part, fairly weak creatures. They don't have the strength of a diamond dog. They don't have the speed of a vampire. Only a few have even a hope of challenging the knowledge of a dragon. Numbers, disguises, and their Queen is what most hives rely on. This is true of course, and Chrysalis knows it. Changelings are a fragile race, and if one day their unity would fail, a fail-safe must be ready. A fail-safe that, alone, could stand against any threat. Any situation. Any obstacle. A hero, which all could look to when times were dark.

That had been a long time ago.

A 16 year-old boy is transported to Equestria and given the form of a dragon. He makes several unexpected friends and at the same time will discover his own powers, but will the ponies trust him because of it? He will have to convince them if he is to stop the upcoming threat and restore balance to the magic of Equestria.

Everything dies.

Sometimes sooner than it should, and sometimes not for very long.

When death proves to be a bit more impermanent than it should be, Celestia is left to figure it out.

As well as why the new citizen of her fair land seems so intent on keeping the answers to himself.
