I'm not dead, just been trying to reignite my love for ponies for the past 10 years and finish what I started." give them hope that you will someday update your stories. Even if it could be a lie to us.

Enjoy it. From what he's said, he's been trying to reignite his passion for the ponies for the past 10 years so, he hasn't found that spark then, and I have doubt that he will anytime soon.
Best case scenario, he finds that passion again sometime, later this year or even next year. (Which I doubt) Worst case is that he just never uploads anything.
The only thing, we can really do is hope.
