over eight years and near 3.1 mil words... (and who knows how many in cut content) this is an accomplishment. and my mind is blown by the fact that it manages to continue to be engaging even with so many words to read. eagerly awaiting more (even though you just posted to try to feed my voracious reading habit)
It's been a while since I last read this story, so long that I'd have to start from the beginning. Rather than read 3mil+ words, I'll just ask here.
Has Luna's and Nav's relationship improved any since their last one blew hot cinders? Has Luna in general improved any since her confession? Generally speaking, how is Nav's relationship with the princesses?
If you're concerned about spoilers, just PM me. Thank you for anyone willing to answer.
Ooh, new chapter. Merry Christmas to me
Another chapter of my favorite story. Always nice to see.
I saw this and I thought my evening would be totally dominated reading this, but, luckily, the reader view has a listen function with an adjustable speed. I have that thing set to the fastest speed and and it only took me about ninety minutes to read this chapter. Now I can get back to reading the "Kumo Desu Gan, Nani Ka?" light novel.
~KBO.

Luna became a vassal of Nav and is currently undergoing elemental-assisted therapy. Celestia got mindwiped and her personality rewritten by Flo after a vote by several leaders (including Chrysalis, Cadence/Shining, and Princess Gilda). Both princesses still seem... unhinged... but they are manageable.
finally getting back to this story after half a year and I forgot all about so I have start from the begging
So lets begin from the top
10592063
it has changed in the positive.
this was a nice Christmas present
10592063
Luna is generally getting her act together with the help of the elementals, and her relationship with Nav has improved
10592235
Celestia was mindwiped!! What hapoened to cause that? To my very outdated knowoedge, she wasn't evil, just....amoral at times.
Given that, is it safe to say Celestia's relationship with Nav went downhill?
10592311
Is it? Seems fine to me; Nav is telling him he can choose to become tree folk as a reward or potentially something else.
It's kinda concerning how excited I've gotten for a chapter about a guy just managing his house. That said this was great way too round off the year and am very eagerly looking forward to even more!
10592393
No, she was pure fucking evil. Like really really evil.
(I just checked in on this story yesterday. My timing's getting better.)
Do I sense an incoming bonding moment between our damaged princess and damaged daughter? That could be creepy cute. And it would certainly do Luna well to have more than one person in the world to care about.
The development of the characters feels like it's really starting to show now. And I certainly enjoy how the ball is rolling faster and faster. While I always look forward to the next chapter and get a little disappointed when I get to the end of the current one (god knows I wouldn't still be here if I didn't; I've spent more time reading this one story than probably all the rest on the site combined), I'm what can only be described as giddy for what comes next. Which is a nice change of pace from the last few days, suffice it to say. A wonderful Christmas present, this.
So when do we plow that trap cat-bird boipussy/cloaca?
10592502
It's a good story. That's all there is to it.
Fuck work. It took me longer than needed to read this
Who needs all the power of an entire nation behind them when we have Jonathan?
10592598
What did she do?
Gotta say, Thunder Charge is a solid name. Hope he becomes friends with Spider, sad boy needs it.
10592857
Oh, you know... Emotionally and psychologically abused Luna for millenia and turned her into a psychopath, deliberately kept ponykind in the iron age and dependent on her, sent countless political "troublemakers" to the gulag, and also caused directly or indirectly most of Nav's suffering on this world so far. You know... stuff.
10592857
Alot of historical stuff like black mailing the entire dragon race by holding thousands of dragon eggs hostage. Including spike.
But really this information is well well ahead of your point of reference. Just read from the start and you'll see.
10592614
There is literally so much to be excited about:
- Nav becoming a duchess
- Nav building his town.
- Nav building all his business ventures
- The battle for tartaros
- Conquering tartaros and possibly making it her country.
- Getting a soul and possibly learning true magic.
- Finding the rest of the elements.
- Bringing humans forward in time (which I hope genuinely rescues people from way back like the Chinese before the mongol invasion. Would love to see the their reaction to how their race was whiped out because they became so insanely advanced)
- advancing into space?!??!? And building a space elevator and space lasers and so on?!!
I feel sorry for Felix and man why when i read them asking nav about lunas confession i wanted nav to say. Worse then what you did. To kat
Hell yeah! More Nav!
New chapter woo!
Honestly, I think Felix could become a huge character in the story, he very closely resembles Navarone, and while he might be vastly different, he does have the "This psychotic chick is trying to get my dick" problem; which seems like WhatMustIDo was pushing. My bet is that Felix becomes important later, and I'm interested in what he'll become.
I hope Navarone is able to establish boundaries with Kat soon. Her outing herself to him as still taking great joy and taking pains to cultivate his suffering is a good wale up call if any further was needed.
That said, I hadn't even considered space exploration with the advantage of magic!
If Jonathan has any data from the species that set up the magma powered shield, than imagine that same magical working being put to use on a STAR!
And if Jonathan doesn't have any pertinent information, souls stick around for a long time, and Nav has two nigh immortal princesses, the most magically gifted unicorn on the planet, all the mages of the tower if he puts the right pressure on them and the right incentives, access to the most comprehensive library to ever exist alongside the inconceivably ancient and well read goddess of knowledge, one of the most skilled and capable shamans in the world, a literal ghost shackled to his body that already tried to drag him into a vortex of spirits, if he puts the effort into tracking her down the mushroom sister with knowledge we can't even guess at and is almost certainly somehow connected to the great mushroom power of past and future that has been hinted at, and he will soon meet one of if not the most powerful necromancer's to ever live. Granted, I can't see the last NOT going wrong, but still an unreasonably valuable resource. Some way or another, the knowledge will be found. Worst comes to worst, he has the ring that uses magic to make heat and some of the most skilled magical and runic Craftsman of the era working under him specifically chosen to make innovations before undreamed of. It will happen.
My current hope is that in Tartarus there will be at least some plants magically resistant to fire who's traits can be used for a conduit.
Alternatively, the living thing used as a conduit could simply have a fire elemental bonded to them, which brings to mind just how powerful a fire elemental in close contact with a star would become, and how far they could transmit that energy effectively (with the recollection a fire elemental can bond to many hosts, and one inside a volcano can almost instantly regenerate their hosts bodies. Flo's connection to Nav seems to get weaker with distance, so it may play some factor, though fires are different from waters. Regardless, perhaps some trick could be found to extend the distance...).
It would probably be wise of Nav, if he does find some fire resistant plants (and come on, some have to exist, it's inconceivable that none would develop magical traits to live in extreme heat and fire and even thrive, especially if Tartarus is the hellscape it's supposed to be rules by a fire elemental), to absorb some of their life force as insurance against fire. To take on their traits as he has taken on the magical traits of trees in general by absorbing their life force into himself. Since he has the capacity to innoculate himself against some of the dangers of the world, it makes sense to take precautions like that, taking tricks both technical and magical and using them to his fullest advantage. Especially considering one of the greatest risk factors are the dragons and he currently only has water elementals inside him. It would be neat to see.
But I've rambled a bit, what I want you to imagine now is this:
Blink can theoretically teleport you anywhere you have a line of sight to.
Blinks upper range is dependent on the amount of power the caster can put into the spell.
Nav has a direct line of sight to the majority of the stars and planets in the observable universe. To other galaxies and Galaxy clusters.
With the benefit of the runes of the bug civilization, Nav can pour the heat energy pooled in the magma of the entire planet into a spell of his choosing, dwarfing the individual magical energies of almost anything that's ever existed, possibly even rivaling the original magic lakes. If he took it further, he could expand the operation to harness the magical might of the SUN with the magical equivalent of a Dyson ring, the energy of that dwarfing in turn the energy of the planet.
Conclusion: Nav has the resources to establish an intergalactic civilization, with relative ease. He can make space ships contemptuously easily with Jonathan, and they can be blinked directly to other planets or in orbit around other stars, where new outposts harvesting solar energy and other resources can be established and new ships can be made. He may be able to establish a proper type 4 civilization if he plays his cards right!
A civilization were communication and transportation are unhindered by the speed of light would be difficult to manage in that it is vast but with distance being trivialized with teleportation and unthinkably vast supplies of energy would be possible to hold together without cultural and technological fracture being a given.
And that's not even considering pocket dimensions like Athena and Hera have demonstrated as possible, if multiple entrances can be made to one pocket dimension, they could be hubs of galactic travel with entrances kept in major cities, spaceships might be unnecessary as an entry and exit point could be teleported ahead to new planets or star systems and colonists arrive directly from the new semi permanent entrance site. Supplies could and equipment could be brought directly from the pocket dimension without the need to teleport them or colonists vastly simplifying the construction of new outposts, and with an entrance such as a simple book being much easier to teleport than a full self sufficient base.
And all of this, all of this, is just using the current level of technological and magical knowledge to it's fullest extent, and both of those have lain stagnant for epochs upon epochs. What is truly possible has only just begun to surface. It's entirely reasonable to expect a type 5 or even 6 civilization to emerge from Nav's efforts. The conceivable growth of a civilization that is capable and willing to expand their knowledge and use of magic and technology to the absolute limit is beautiful.
I hope we'll get to see some space travel before the story is done, even if it's just within the solar system. It would be neat to see the budding growth of what could be. I don't expect any in depth look at what civilization Nav will create unless WhatMustIDo elects to have an epilogue specifically exploring what Nav is able to do post discord and post human integration as an enjoyable form of closure.
I will say something I am curious about is wether or not Nav will ever explore the mechanisms of godhood. Proper godhood, as Hera and Athena have managed. Being a central figure in bringing about a new era of upheaval in all aspects of life could set Nav up quite effectively as a god of change, or evolution, or growth, or prosperity, or the figurative aspect of spring or renewal. Spring might be taken, as may prosperity. Change, renewal, and evolution make a non destructive counterpart to Discord's chaos and discontent, positive upheaval rather than destructive upheaval. Growth, renewal and evolution also tie in to the whole plant thing going on. Another thing that would be cool to see, and something more likely to fall within the realm of this story.
One last thing I'm curious about, the magical clemency of the poles erased by Grogar. Could such a magical effect be duplicated? Of course, I've established why. Would such a thing function as a magically induced springtime for the purposes of Nav's tree sister status? Could he make his estate in a permanent unnatural springtime, cutting off one of the only disadvantages being a tree sister has (before repeated deaths are taken into account)? I was initially going to suggest a base around the permanently clement equator where plants are constantly in season, but if the same effect could be induced with magic Nav could stay at his already established center of operations with no downside, and of course it would also help is public image if his estate is a constant beacon of spring, provide a little bit of that wonder and awe factor. At the very least the naga and spider would appreciate the consistently warmer weather. I hope Nav investigates this, evil never sleeps after all, and theirs only so much he can do within the dream realm and only so far drugs will carry him. Regardless, weather and climate control would be an invaluable tool to add to his arsenal, particularly for terraforming and invading a large landmass. He would never need to worry about invading Russia in the winter when it spring wherever he chooses it to be. Jonathan already has his own weather control capabilities come to think of it, maybe he could be of assistance. Magical climate control wouldn't hurt for colonization efforts either, on cold barren planets on the outer fringes of the dimmest stars.

The only part of this comment you need to read
-Lord Darkplume
Yea, sure, better bother the most important person on the planet. And as far as he knows Nav has literally no connection nor any knowledge of some maid that was in Gryphus.
Bruh, who in their right mind is envy of Kat? Masochists.
Everything else I wanted to metion was already said. Thank you for another chapter, merry Christmas to you too (even though it took me to long to read through it).
10594945
Remember about all these golems that are kinda like a self-renewable resource in addition to all their other perks.
10598090
Joke's on you, I binged the entire story up to this point within a month! Am currently waiting on updates while reading Man of War again as well!
Check in today and saw this, epic Christmas Presents 🎁
10598390
A month? That long? Remember you can just not sleep and read instead. 2 and a half weeks on my end.
It’s so bizarre how Nav is more self-conscious now.
Even more bizarre when you realize whatmustido managed to write him as mostly not being so for 200 chapters.
Goes to show how much Nav has changed, and how well-skilled whatmustido is with writing characters!
I wonder just how much Johnathen can do to Tayas Runic Armor if he was allowed, asked to do so,given multiscaled staging of runes down to the nudged and strained atomic level with four dimentional packing, maybe even make it Reaction Cloth Liquid Cermite style?
Theres no kill like Total Overkill?
Apparently theres a new material which has a higher electrical resistance than hard vaccuum, that works by quantum interference, and so could be called the electric equivalence of Vibranium, especially if soliton, phonon to electron conversion technologies are added?
Trap Griffin Maid as a Tree Sister. All those resulting Seeds Of Arboreal Poinking would lead to offspring nature control saplings controling as much of the planet as they want?
10598819
exactly 20 days for me but I got Christmas that made lose reading time.
I've read from the beginning of the coma, about ch. 189?, to here, ch. 204 . it took three days of nonstop reading. No better way to cap off the year WMID has don a lot in these new chapters, Nav setting up a global empire is definitely going to be great reading.
The recap was okay, but it's good for Navi to finally be back in his Addams' Family-style lifestyle.
Now, shit can proceed toward attacking Tartarus!
10594945
A lot of the later parts are kinda made moot by true magic. Like the blink energy glitch is only useful because unicorn magic needs energy, but true magic doesn't. You could just get people to think about it really hard and make it so, WH40k ork style. Just spread rumors among the peasants (both the magical modern half-fae peasants and the potential human refugees) that you could do something, and if you convinced enough of them you could. "Oh yeah, mars is totally habitable." "Of course I can fly, what am I, you?" "The moon actually is made out of cheese, that's how Luna survived up there without starving."
I can't help but think of two things about this story lately, and both are kinda related. The first is that Spider should totally be Equestria's first bard, the second is that the Nav fam should start a band.
Why can't She just have a bloody heard everyone else is doing it.
10606293
Equestria has canonically already had bards, or rather, warrior poets, in this story. basically the same thing. at least according to and. Remember when Luna Recognized the name Nav took when he took her to the gala as one?
10621298
I meant bard as a kind of magic user, not just as a musician though. More D&D bard than historical bard. Like using the magic instuments the crafters are working on to let spider do all kinds of magical mumbo-jumbo. Since he can already play the piano pretty well, and they were talking about how he'd probably be good at playing the bowls/bells. Plus the idea of him webbing somebody to force them to listen to his music is hilarious. *thwip* "Put that sword down, I'm playing wonderwall". Or him just stuck to a ceiling playing maracas that buffed his allies or something. I need a sorcerous salsa spider in my life.
10623177
the reference3d bard was a notable magic user, but I see what ya mean lol
just came here bc this has the most words, 3 mil
10615870
Fantastic comment. 9/10.
Honestly I'm not sure who is more damaged, Kat, or Luna. I'm really not sure. Luna seems to at least be making a minor effort to improve herself, Kat... not so much, unless I'm forgetting something.
Thank you very much for the update!
> 3 million words, god damn boi!
Damn, finally caught up to the latest chapter, been reading everyday for the past month or two. Karma caught up to me for laughing at the old comments complaining about being left on a cliff hanger when I didn't have one, haha. Now I too must join in on the long waiting game.
