So, I suppose the takeaway here is that even the worst of times can be made easier with the support of people who love you.
It is an admirable goal, trying to make our heroine accept this. Admirable, but likely doomed from the start. Can't wait to see how she fucks it up.
Another great chapter. 10/10. Finally getting to know Ava a bit was nice. That this story has gone on for so long and you are still able to provide a deeper understanding of your characters proves your merit as a writer. These are the most nuanced, interesting characters and relationships I have ever seen.
Increased levels, equipment and party size still just made the Bunker passable.
I wonder if Celestia went in she could beat it alone?
Nav is not a clown, Popsy. He is the entire circus.
Awesome.
Liked the chapter, I wasn’t expecting to hear anything from Ava until her removal. Love the dynamic between The two of them. She like a more human flow.
Biggest fear ava probably had about nanites would probably be her faith being constructed against her will, as well as her want to be a mother. I imagine such facilities would facilitate the need for breeding and propagation, plus we know religion can be used to control people, so it's possible that her faith was constructed to control her as well as the other churchgoers. A pretty horrible thought to think about. I imagine the most horrific twist would be having her be like Navarone, you know before her mind was broken. Plus I think that'd be the biggest strike against God's existence as a whole, which would be having your soul be permanently change from your memories being manipulated, which makes life as a whole and its existence pointless, at least for Lessons Learned anyway. I suppose it could be a lesson on the sanctity of freedom, but torturing those who have already learned that Lesson by removing it as a whole is still a terrible way to teach.
Lovely chapter once more. I'm kind of hoping to see more interactions between Nav and Ava.

What about her love for Artyom? If memories can be manipulated, isn't it possible to alter one's feelings for another through such methods? I'd feel like that'd be THE biggest slap in Ava's face
It was surprisingly refreshing to see someone who got all of Nav's references and even funnier that Ava gave her opinion on who Nav should marry. I hope we get to see her more in the future, it was nice having a sane human around even if she is dead.
Now this is a chapter I had no trouble staying engaged with.
Ava did need more exploration as a character and something about the Nav-Taya-Ava dynamic is engaging.
Nice
This is clearly foreshadowing to the future plot twist where Taya converts to Christianity for some reason and keeps trying to make Nav take back the holy land from the sheep.
this was a great chapter. really liked that we finally got to meet ava. she is a funny ghost. I like the fact that he just dominated the bunker with his attack filly. I really enjoyed popsy though I kinda hoped that we could have gotten an interaction between nav and popsy where she told him how grateful she was that he saved her life. even if the popsy wasn't the real one, I think it would have been nice. overall, great chapter. I can't wait for more to come out.

Would also explain why they died seperately.
Happy new year
Is this a late Christmas present or just you trying to start the new year off right?
I honestly wasn't expecting Ava to ever become a proper character. I also never noticed that Nav has been saddled with an Ava and an Eva, both of which are mentally broken and latched onto him against his will. I think I like Eva better. They're cuter. Good seeing Clown Bro again, too. He was one of the primary things about the bunker chapters that stuck out in my memory.
10012234
That sounds about right.

More of a traveling freak show at this point, I think.
Ava was a huge treat It was great to have a secind perspective on the bunker, especially from someone who knew it in and out.
Quite lovely, this.
The only thing I don't like about Ava is her zealotry. Makes my brain itch thinking about it. Thanks for letting her speak.
As always, looking forward to more.
"Began."
This was a nice way to start off the new decade.
~KBO.
I loved the chapter and I hope to see more of Ava.
I agree with Taya, we should keep Ava.
It is good to have another human, a nice one this time (too good for this sinful earth), getting dragged about. Occasionally explaining references, culture, sniping/reacting at Navs antics, and bringing her own perspective.
As for her overt beliefs, I could see living the extinction of your race making your religious beliefs more pronounced, in such a dark time, hope shines eternal. Or that is at least what my Danganronpa games have been trying to teach me.
Funny how one of the most relatable characters, is the dead ghost chained to our protagonist by the soul.
So yeah, I hope to see more of Ava at some point, may your soul not rest in peace.
Still loving this blast through the past, keep up the excellent work.
Dont get rid of Ava. I like her.
This is one of the funniest chapters ive read in a long time. The original is mad spooky, and it turning into a horror comedy was a move that i did not see coming, and i loved it
Whoa, and here I thought you were gonna take a break for the holidays.
Memeology
If Nav didn’t have a soul... why did the Undead attack him in the first place- let alone perceive him as anything other than a fellow walking corpse?
Or... Was it Ava bonding with Nav’s body the reason why? Le gasp!
I hope I can finish this story before World War 3
the take away for me is that Nav having beings latched onto him is the best form of therapy she can hope for that actually gets shit done besides Aqua. She was doing good with Flo and as Ava was concerned she had helped her through some of her issues along with help strengthen the connection Nav has with Taya.

I agree wholeheartedly. She needs others to balance her mentally and emotionally, and cover for her weaknesses.
Nav acknowledges that she is not in a state to make important decisions herself, but believes that everyone else is even less qualified to do so. Not an unwarranted view, considering how much fuckery and shenanigans she's had to endure as a consequence of their decisions.
What she lacks is confidence in herself and those who HAVE proven themselves emotionally and mentally capable of making good decisions, caused by dwelling on their pre-Nav naïveté, inexperience, or outright malice. She's stuck in the past, and can't see the positive changes in others or herself.
She needs to let her supporters actually support her if she wants to improve.
I really hope Ava will come back in later chapters. Good chapter.
I can't help but picture Popsy coming out on top somehow, and because of Ava's memeology course, I can't help but picture him doing it with memes. Like, the butcher punched him across the fairground, and he made a parachute out of balloons. Then he gets serious, and makes warpaint out of his bright white, red, and yellow greasepaint. He slowly walks up behind the hunter with a squeaky mallet as X gon give it to ya plays. He walks off after, and when the butcher respawns he starts eating the Hunter's body, and then Popsy shows back up out of nowhere and says "what ya eatin there Billy?"
God save that clown.
Juicy lap.
Minimal recommended dungeon level: 7
Your level: 30
I reeealy liked this chapter, all the way up to the end! And I too hope that Ava comes back eventually, she does seem very beneficial for Nav to have arround, and their exchanges are very interesting. Looking forward to the next one, allthough I do wonder if they'll make it back in time for the contest...
Also, happy new year everyone!
I don't know why, but your story is feeling too real man.

Australia is completely on fire... I uses to think Australia being Tartarus was funny.😱
Taya's back must be hurting from carrying the entire party
chapters 193-195 were released on 24 or 25 of their months, were you trying to hint at a christmas release or were those dates just coincidence
Ahhh goddamn that was good. This story is like a drug and this chapter was a good fix.....for a couple days.
I honestly wouldn't mind if Nav ended up giving Ava a body and eventually marrying her. Even without the rest of the human race around, he'd have a truly human partner, one who knows him better than the rest of the cast. Maybe that'd actually make him happy, more than any of the pony royals could.
It turns out that an eerie type of chaos can lurk just behind a facade of order - and yet, deep inside the chaos lurks an even eerier type of order.
- Douglas Hofstadter.
I don't know, I saw this quote and was immediately drawn back here.
I think Ava is doing the same thing that Flo did originaly. She acting as a commentator. We loved flo at the start and I think ava would be a good replacement.
They both remind me of Cortana from Halo.
Hey guys the Diaries of a Madman Discord server is in search of anyone who thinks they can voice a character for the voiceover of the story. We have many men already interested but we are in search of females who would be willing to voice characters. We will also take anyone who can pass as a female voice so long as it doesn't destroy your vocal chords to do it. Here is the invite. https://discordapp.com/invite/ZxvNcXn

New game+
I'm starting to wonder if Nav's greatest ability might be his amazing memory. There's no way I'd be able to remember every detail of my first time going through something like this the way he does, even if it wasn't traumatic enough to be worth repressing.
By the way, when is he supposed to be recording this into his journal? Obviously he can't during the coma, but it really doesn't sound like a post-coma Nav, at least not one that's much different from the old one. Questions for later, I guess.
10029360
Flo and or Aqua should have perfect memory of what he has done. Flo can simply bring the memories to the forefront of his mind while he writes. Or he has good memory.
This feels like the perfect time to re-read this story from the beginning. The coma-recap puts a lot of things into perspective in hind-sight, and being able to read both the original events and Nav's thoughts on them in the coma is a limitless source of entertainment.
Bravo.
Ah fuck
Confetti cannon??
Is this a reference to the increasing amount of ww3 memes
Did Nav really have to explain what Sunk Costs are
Nav mentioned it again? Twice in one chapter too. Strange
Nice line. Made me chuckle
I'm glad we were able to give a personality to Ava. I wonder if Nav will feel any remorse once he pulls out her soul. Maybe he'll figure something out?
What happens to Ava when Nav dies? Is she suddenly free or does she get transported to Nav's new body?
I liked this chapter a lot. It gave a really good summary of the whole bunker arc while conveying new information to keep us interested. But there are still so many mysteries of the bunkers that I'm sad Nav couldn't explore.
I was there when this story hit the 2 million word count and I can’t wait for the 3 millionth.

I was here when we hit 100k, 500k, 1 mill, and 2mill.
I hope to see the day It hits 5mill, but I feel like It'll end before that.
