This was a great note to end on man. This is probably one of the few stories I've read that have actually brought quite a few tears to my eyes and have actually wanted to keep reading. The action scenes were rather well described and just as enjoyable, and the romantic scenes made my heart flutter in a good way. It's a shame it has to end, but as the old saying goes 'All good things must come to an end'. Maybe you could do a sequel with the next time line and how Max and Twilight are going to much around with it?
8848010
The idea's crossed my mind a few times, and I think it'll be interesting to go play around with more ideas as I go along. Something of the sort might come along, but no guarantees.
8848030
If the ideas strike your creative juices, let them flow. That's all I ask for. If they don't, then don't fret about it. This story alone was worth the binge.
aaaaaAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
I started reading the story about a month ago and I instantly fell in love. If this is truly the end let it be known that the words that you have written have genuinely change the way I think about life. Godspeed and in your own words, stay cool.
I still wonder happened to Twilight Breeze
8848094
You mean Velvet Breeze?
8848082
Thank you, and I hope it somehow managed to make your worldview a little bit nicer... Don't see how it could've, but I can hope.
This. This is a story that I will read again. Not soon, mind you. In a couple of months, when my memory of Max's challenges will be foggy, when I'll think one day, why this happened that way, and not like that? Nonetheless, your story is a great one. Truly beautiful piece, and it will be even better to see one day, that You will announce that there is next part in writing. I'm not saying that you have to do so, so don't feel like you have to do it. It's up to you. Only if you want it, and don't let anyone pressure you to do that.
And about this chapter, does that mean that we will get to know the last interaction between You, the author, and Max? Or was it here?
Overall, thank you. For your time, that you could've spent on the other things other than writing. For even putting your story here, because you didn't have to do that. Or simply saying that you will close the story, and not leaving it forever unfinished like some people do. That's the thing I hate most. You read a story, like it, and then... No more chapters, not even saying that because of things, I have to end the story here and now. Ehh, but I'm rambling, aren't I?
Thank you for this story. It brought smile to me many times.
Edit: and there is that feeling. The one after you finish a very good book. I think you all know which one. And sorry for that wall of text.
I'm glad that I journeyed through Max's story with you and everyone that has read it, and this is a bittersweet moment. The feeling that you would never want it to end and the feeling that it needs to have that feeling of closure and the sequel has been great so far a character similar but so different from Max will make for a fun read. For making this journey I thank you and I hope I keep the will to finish my own work as well.

Thank you for your kind words, but most days, I wanted to write A Thief's Tale, just like I want to write Road To Penance. Yes, it is a bit of a standalone sequel, but Max does get a part as a main character, and so far the reviews have been positive. I'm hoping to carry over as many readers as possible to my new works since they're already better from the beginning that I'd planned for them to be. There have been a few different ideas for different places to take the end of the story bouncing around in my head, but I think I'll save them for a rainy day, lest I grow weary of writing again.
You're welcome, and it's been great getting to contribute to the wonderful works on this site. A Thief's Tale might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it seems to do well in its niche, and for that, I can only thank the people who let me know how I was doing, good and bad, before my writing style got any more developed. The more I think about it, the more i want to pick up from where Max and Twilight meet and have them start their new lives from there with their memories scrambled. It'd be a fun little venture, I believe. However, A Thief's Tale: The Road to Penance has my attention for the time being.
I'm not good at expressing myself, let alone through text, but here it goes...
This has got to be one of the best things I've ever read. Honest. I love your work, and I hope you keep writing, because I'll be here to read it all, and then reread it. Again and again.
An avid reader of yours, Staying Cool.

There is a sequel in the works that has already had a few chapters posted for it under the title of A Thief's Tale: The Road to Penance if you haven't checked it out yet. It's standalone from RTR (Road to Redemption) but no one knows what the future holds.
It got really meta near the end, but I enjoyed this story immensely.
iv been on many rides but this is one i dont ever wanna get off. gonna have to have security drag me kicking and screaming from the coaster. ill make a big scene and everything. ill embarrass security, the other patrons, the workers, but most importantly YOU. itll be news worthy and you nor i will ever live it down.
This was fuckin' marvelous, This is honestly the most satisfying ending I've ever read, of any form of literature. The 'subtle' references and mentions were great in this chapter and previously (I don't think I've said this before, but you're like the second person I know that is aware that rangers apprentice even exists).
There have been moments in my week where I'd been having a bad day, ranging from losing my phone to getting my head kicked in, when I would think back to this story and laugh.
So uh, thanks.
:)
8848371
Throw kicks and do all the damage before you go, my friend.
8848440
I'm glad that A Thief's Tale has been something good in your life and hope you find more things that make you smile when you need it most.
Ranger's Apprentice is easily one of the best series I read while in middle/high school, though I think I could do with a reread. Brotherband is also pretty good, but John Flanagan is just a good author.
I'm also fucking relieved that the ending wasn't awful. I didn't think that a happily ever after suited the story at all; not with the dark themes throughout the story.
As I'm writing this I say with joy as I read this story it brought me so many tears of joy anger sadness but most of all respect I've read a lot of Stories on this site but this one story I've truly taking it personally personal liking to and it's sad that is ending here but I think Max and Twilight deserve this because it's their chance at a second happiness if you do decide to write a sequel I say go for it but if you don't that's okay too I feel that if anybody reads this story it will move them to their core I think you felt the store so much passion it's no story like it but this one but that's all I have to say I just want to let people know that it's very good but until then like you always say at the end stay cool kids and Godspeed
8848531
Ah, I enjoy reading over my work multiple tiems. It helps me see what I've done and how I've grown, but when it comes to rereading books, I had a 6 month waiting period. Back when I was an avid reader, that is.
Glad to hear that you're coming along to the new party! Welcome to the multi-year pub crawl where we go from story to story and find new shit to laugh at!
8848560
I am writing a sequel, but not the restart kind of sequel that you might be thinking of. At least, not yet. The idea is more than appealing, and I can already see fun things to do with the idea. Maybe I'll get it started and see where it goes, but for the time being, A Thief's Tale: The Road to Penance is my main focus.
I'm glad that my work has evidently touched so many people, and that it's been a journey worth going down. It's always sad to see a story end, but time waits for no man, and Max's time has come for the most part.
8848150
oops, yes I do V_V

Velvet Breeze went on to live under a curse that Celestia put her under and never cured, which was less due to spite and more to negligence since she just forgot about it. The curse was that Velvet Breeze would only attract women, but the kicker is that she would be against the idea of being with another woman. She eventually married into a loveless relationship that was more for tax benefits and company rather than emotional support of any kind, and that persisted until Max reset time when he got back from the heavens. After that, the wrongs were righted, though he never actually mentioned it because it was so insignificant at the time, and he kinda didn't give a shit about Breeze anymore. Dude had more important things to worry about.
Holy shit this is probably the best story I've read on fimfiction.
This epic is done, on to the next. Such is the life of an avid reader.
Excellent story and I had fun reading it. You started out really strong, a nice foundation being formed and you built this story quite well but I think you built it higher than it needed to be and it kinda collapsed at the very end. Though, I still had a lot of fun reading through your interesting way with words.
This deserves a /10.
8849039
A Smiling Twilight? High praise, I daresay. Here's hoping that the next one's a little less stacky or something like that.
i stayed with this story till the end. (i get to live too so thats swaggy)
but the whole becoming a god thing REALLY flew by my head (yeah, been over my head for a TON of chapters). felt like berry for a bit.
im already reading Penance so we'll see where that road takes us.
8850344
It's a bit of a wild thing, so I see where you're coming from./ FGlad you could be on the journey, and I hope you have fun reading RTP as well.
As of now this is one of the few reads on this site that did not have me skip trough any content, thank you for sharing it with all of us
And there ends what is currently the best story I have ever read. Out of every published book, fanfic, legend, one shot, and all other forms of literature out there, this is hands down the best story I’ve ever read so far. The action was thrilling, the romance was emotional, the jokes were entertaining. This story had everything I could have wanted in a book and much more. For the joy you have brought everyone (including myself), I thank you.
8855484
Glad I could catch and keep your attention. I'm glad I got to share it with everyone, and hope people choose to carry on with my works.
8855496
As Always, It's Some Random Shit.
8856023
You are most certainly welcome, and I'd like to thank you and everyone else who read until the end for your time and consideration. ?I've heard tell of it taking people anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks to get through Road to Redemption, and the sheer amount of time that goes into reading this when you could be doing something, anything else... Thank you.
While reading another story waiting for your next chapter I realized something how come Max hasn’t been asked for sex by the fandom town bicycle Cloudkicker?
8862576
I don't know who (s)he is. That's why.
8863012
You or Max?
8863130
Both of us
And so the story ends. "Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince,
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!"
Started this story a month ago, and I'm glad I got to enjoy some of the waiting for chapters before it ended. Your story kept me reading for hours at a time for days on end. In fact, I don't think there was a day since I started the story that I didn't read it until I started waiting for chapters.
Anyway, fuck you for that ending. I fell in love with these characters and with a few final chapters you broke my heart a few more times only to fill it with hope in the end. So fuck you in all the best ways.
I very much look forward to reading the rest of your works.
8873498
Glad to have thrilled and killed by being skilled. Or something of the sort.
The sequel is up and has an update coming out tomorrow morning on 4/20 (ballin' swag), so do tune in. I've been told that it doesn't suck.
8874542
I'm invested enough in this story that I'd definitely say something if it did suck. That being said, time for some light* reading again.
*It's gonna be heavy as shit and I'm gonna love every second of it.
P.S. 4/20 blaze it fgt, git gud
8874606
I look forward to hearing from you again then. Who knows? Maybe you'll like the way it sucks?
that had a really good way to end the story and it was rather sad to
Holy fucking shit. Im speachless right now.
That ending seems pointlessly depressing and grimderp. I mean, he goes through everything (including fighting the ultimate god of the universe) to be with Twilight... but she's now somehow an amnesiac and essentially abandons him one more time. Still having difficulties with the "How exactly is she the love of his life?" issue. (Plus, perplexed as to how she's not even a little "Wow, think of all the things I can learn and mysteries I can answer, if I just stay awake". Not even a "I can show you the universe (and in the meantime, make you fall back in love with me" ending?)
I completely don't get how it's assumed that this timeline is going to be anything like the last one. I mean, we've been told that he pretty much has free reign in his universe, so it's impossible to think that he's going to let things happen in the same way with the gods who abused him and leading to Discord, which means that even if Equestria happens, it's going to be a completely different place, with a completely different history and completely different people. Is he honestly going to let everything with Noir and Nightmare Moon and Luna happen exactly the same? Even if, for some unknown reason, he railroads everything the same, he surely isn't going to let Night Light be the same person he was in the first timeline, so even at most, you'd end up with people with the same names but on the other side of the uncanny valley of personalities, so what's the point?
8987017
The thing is that Twilight, while technically a lowercase G 'God', might have been 'immortal', she wasn't' Eternal. She also didn't abandon Max, she just went to go process the information that she was presented. I don't truly know how I'd react if I found myself in a place void of anything other than my house and a guy I met awhile ago. I'd probably go to said house, hope I had some coffee and subsequently have a panic attack. I, personally, wouldn't exactly be gung ho about learning the secrets of the universe when I'm facing the fact that nothing I know exists yet.
As far as Twilight being the love interest, it just is what it is at this point, man.
Concerning the ending; it wasn't meant to be a happy story. Yeah, there's happy parts, but life generally sucks. What better poetic justice than having a man who thought he knew how to have it all find out that he'd only scratched the surface? A matter of opinion, perhaps.
I don't understand where your assumption that things pan out the same way comes from. Then again, it's been awhile since I wrote and e3dited this chapter, so it might be something I forgot. However, I don't think i ever stated that Max was going to live the original timeline over again after he became Cap G.
8987047
On the time loop thing, my assumption was coming from Max saying that it'd be X million years until Celestia was born and Twilight asking to sleep until her parents came back... whereas I'd expect that unless he railroaded things, that planet's history would be so different that it'd be unlikely for there to even be a Celestia and certainly not her parents.
8987067
Max took his style of ruling from Celestia and planned on giving her the tools to conquer Equus as a whole for peace and harmony amongst all races. He was basically going to make her do the shit he did back when he first returned to Earth, making Equus a utopian paradise.
Twilight would have gotten to see herself be born, essentially. She wouldn't be that universes Twilight, but she could step into her shoes at any time.
8984808
Lol, I'll get the banana, let's split.
8992912
You're gonna have to get with the archive on that, homes. Of course, there is no archive.
You could make one.
8992912
First 20-ish chapters, after that, max doesn't care, caspar doesn't care, and if you still care at that point, get used to the idea of don't caring.
A few surprises here and there of sexy scenes, but really, stop caring, because even if it seems that something is going to happen, you either get c**kblock/p***yblock , or something to levels of "i'll break your arm" happens to fu** max's life.
This has been an excellent story. I loved the wonderful moments, hissed in pain at the painful moments, and enjoyed the drama and the humor. Its been a damn good run. I'll try to read more of the rest of your stories, but damn.
The last few chapters were hard to read with everything that came before. The transcendence and transformation was beyond the normal scope of fiction. It read well, and sat well. Max and Twilight will definitely hold a fond place in my mind. Thanks for the entertainment and the wonderful story. Peace out, Caspar!
