Zevan was a loyal changeling and always did his queen's bidding, although he quietly questioned why changelings should end centuries of secret but peaceful intermingling with the pony population. After being expelled from Canterlot by the irresistible force of love and badly injured after crash-landing in trees, he had to reconsider his future. Ponies knew that changelings existed now, and the only example of them was Chrysalis' attempt to overthrow Celestia and their attack on Canterlot's population. His kind would be pariahs for the foreseeable future and maybe even their disguises would not keep them safe. A unicorn mare with a broken horn might do the trick though.

There is now a prequel to this story - Prelude To Change I suggest that you read that first.

They worked together in harmony, creating beautiful shoes for all who visited until one day they met a young mare in their local bar. She was a mysterious creature, overstressed by her job in the palace and needing the company of two friends far more than she realized.

Until one night, when her sister returned during the Summer Sun Festival…

After the Hive reforms, Thorax finds himself the sudden leader of the changelings. And as it turns out, being the leader means comforting a small nymph who's all alone. But as Thorax looks after the little one, he finds himself caring about the young nymph more than he ever could have thought. Thorax soon found that he's created his own family. It may not be the one he dreamed about as a nymph, but he loves his family. Thorax would do anything for his little nymph, Apex. And as young Apex continues to touch the heart of the alpha changeling, it turns out that Thorax isn't the only one who cares about the little one.

Author's note: The character Apex in this story is in no way connected to the Apex from NavelColt's stories. This Apex is my own original character viewed as an alternate version of Apex with a completely different personality. I only took inspiration in the name, which was originally meant to be a placeholder. If you're interested, go check out NavelColt's The King of Love Bugs to see his Apex.

Every single sentence this author wrote made the story come to life in a BIG way! I didn't once feel like I was reading a story. I felt like I was experiencing it, like I was right there, in the characters' shoes, feeling what they were feeling, seeing what they were seeing. It also helped me to get a better understanding of each character and love them on a deeper level. For example, let's take one paragraph from the story:

This kind of vivid imagery is found throughout the entire story, and the characters' voices help bring out their personality in meaningful ways that help you bond with them, to learn to love them beyond what the comics or cartoon give you. This was a no-brainer as the most well-written story in the contest.

Upon a visit from his lover, Fancy Pants, Prince Blueblood feels the true guilt begin to form of truly not loving the stallion who had made his childhood so horrid. The question comes; is it truly worth loving somepony who treated you so horribly?

In the new Appleoosa, after the farcical and laughingly-remembered War of the Pies, love is not JUST a thing between the same kind. The barrier was broken with the lawful matrimony of Little Strongheart to Braeburn Apple. But even with the official blockade down, change comes slowly in a dusty land far from cosmopolitan quickness and changing minds.

These are tales of the changed Appleoosa, showing how it is, in a land of new love and old ways.

After the events of Thrown Abroad, Suncloak the changeling is happily living in Ponyville. Well, sort of. He needs the love of friendship to stay alive! Luckily, there's plenty of ponies who would want to be friends with him. But let's not forget about other changelings here...

You know, this would be a lot easier if the whole concept of friendship wasn't so needlessly difficult.

This story is a sequel to More Than Trust

After the happenings of More Than Trust, Discord must learn to deal with his new state and manage his relationship with Fluttershy. The latter is easy, but the former is something that he hadn't even thought about handling. It's rough, but that's okay. Fluttershy's there to help him.

She's always there.

However, no amount of comfort from Fluttershy has been able to quell it. It feels familiar, but it's a stranger to him.
