Angel is quite content with things, post-wedding. He has his beautiful bride, some much-loved kittens and a relatively hassle-free life.

That changes when some unexpected family pops up in his life, allowing Opal to see an unknown and very unexpected side of his family. They're after a favor, a very big favor, so they can purposefully enjoy all the things that came to Angel and Opal purely by accident.

No, this is not a crossover. But the names were just too good not to use. I've had this idea kicking around for a while. It was helped to fruition by, of course, my writing that actually is in Zootopia. But this is all pony. Sort of. Looks like being angry has brought a little mojo back.

Prince Blueblood is a strange egomaniac, forever trying to make himself appear bigger and better than he truly is. From buying the affection of mares with fancy dinners and jewels to using his status to bring other nobles to flock around him. But following a humiliating encounter in Canterlot with a vacationing constable he has restricted himself to the palace, and been his best, which is the worst.

Then while he's in the kitchen pinching food he thinks he has found an impudent servant. There follows a curious collection of experiences.

It is a tedious task of thankless misery, mostly consisting of greedy nobles quibbling over contracts, love-hunters seeking her hoof, and complaining idiots wanting ironclad judgment. But in one instance, of all the pestilential inanity and miserable horribleness, she finds one pony that wants nothing more than sound advice. And with her personal maid Lime Sherbert, she will deliver it, and more.

Just an excuse to use more of English Renaissance Luna, and to include Fleur, with Lime along for the ride. It might not make sense unless you read my earlier Luna stories.

Sheriff Silverstar presides over a town that is the envy of a great portion of Equestria. Despite being a dusty and rural frontier town it is remarkably cosmopolitan in many ways. Aside from the pony inhabitants the buffalo territory lies not far away and they freely populate the town, and with a very good set of mines Diamond Dogs have begun to ply their trades. The population is happy, but Silverstar is not. He tries to be, but it never lasts.

Silverstar is wed to a mare whose contempt for other species gets no disguise inside the house, and sends him into the kind and tender embrace of buffalo cow Cactus Blossom, the chanteuse at The Salt Block. He has been out with her, and enjoys it. But such happiness cannot last in that form. He must pursue real and lasting peace.

(Yes, you are not mistaken. The story title and the chapter titles are named for the works of Garth Brooks. Mock all you want but I genuinely enjoy his music. Besides, for a western setting like this a Country music reference seems proper.)
