Weeks have past since Tirek had been defeated. Life in Ponyville is back to normality, and Discord couldn't be happier, especially given the fact that all of his friends had forgiven his betrayal.
However, lately he's noticed that Fluttershy doesn't act like herself. She's constantly tired, a bit moody, and overall just not-Fluttershy. She claims to be fine, but Discord is done hearing that excuse.

im not saying those cons cant be overcome, but really, discord thinking of her as this perfect delicate creature with no faults whatsoever isnt doing her or his potential relationship with her any favors.
that being said, youre really good at writing discord having these emotional thoughts but still keeping him in character. i feel like canon discord would be a bit more in denial about having ugh, 'feelings', but the way you've portrayed him is still well within the spectrum of believably, particularly after the season 4 finale.
its a delicate balance with a character like discord; in the show he understands relationships just about as well as a fish understands mountains, and his definition of 'romance' is something akin to 'exploitable weakness'...but to make a shipfic like this work he needs a wider emotional range than the show accredits him, and thus some creative empathy is required on the part of the writer. (if that makes any sense...) so far, youve been maintaining that balance beautifully. i look forward to future installments!

I guess I should've been more in-detail about it, but Discord actually DOES realize her faults. In my opinion, a perfect relationship comes from being able to look over one's cons and embrace the pros. He doesn't ignore her cons, but while he was thinking of them, they just didn't seem important enough to write down. Her 'cons' were more like 'minor annoyances' that didn't outweigh the pros in the slightest.
Perhaps I'll go back later and try to make that more clear. <3
Thinking about it, you're probably more in the right than I am, but I always thought of Discord's 'denial' as just an outside showing of him trying to act like he's all cool and stuff. He does find emotions to be a weakness, but that doesn't mean that he ignores them; he just tries to prevent them from being seen by others, hence his Discord-y-ness when he was talking to Rarity.
This is probably just me being cute though. :3

i guess i mostly bring it up because the cons i listed are my biggest hurdles in buying into a fluttercord relationship. and maybe its partially because i personally think that having shared interests is extremely vital to a romantic relationship...but c'mon, dont you think loud, random, funny, mildly hedonistic, snarky discord wouldnt get a *little* bored with calm, quiet, homebody, baby ducks and fluffy bunnies fluttershy?
it prolly wouldnt be hard to invent some activity they do together that CAN bridge the gap in their interests... but as it stands, im still seeing it a stumbling block that needs addressing, along with things like fluttershy's extreme sensitivity to pranks and teasing. especially if she going to attempt a relationship with the master troll :P
but for the most part, these are my issues with the ship as a whole, and not a whole lot to do with your story specifically. i guess what im really getting at is that, if you address some of the potential problems they might have within the story, it would add some extra depth to an already very well written piece ^^ and might earn you a few more fluttercord converts as well :P

Freaking hell, this is adorable yet fairly dramatic. Ugh, if only relationships were ever easy. But with Discord and Fluttershy, it really isn't. They're so different, even though they work so well together and have wonderful chemistry. He's so old, and there's a darker history to him, and he's been encased in stone for a thousand years. He's got a lot of baggage to him that makes him feel like he's not worth the trouble and heartbreak, especially after betraying her.
As for Fluttershy, well, forgiveness is only the first step in rebuilding a friendship that threatened to crumble. Especially when she's brokenhearted. She's thinking over her feelings, and it isn't easy after what happened. At least, this is my perspective; I could be totally wrong. I overthink these things... help.
I did notice that the pros proves he knows so little about her. Yes, it does say she puts up with him, implying great patience and tolerance to even the most insane creatures, but other than that and kind, he put simple things like a great cook, great hugger, and smiling a lot. I don't mind, even, especially if this is mentioned later. It just proves that he has to get to know her more than he realizes.
I'm looking forward to this. After today's episode, I'm dying for more fics like this.
