When Luna becomes the unwitting test subject of an ancient spell she discovered, she gets more than she bargained for.

Now a male alicorn named Lucian, he is forced to wait for several months before he can go back to being the mare he once was. With the help of Twilight Sparkle, however, he realizes that his accidental transformation is not the curse he had believed it to be. Thanks to his new identity, he is able to move into Ponyville without being recognized, and gets to make friends for the first time in centuries, learning many important lessons along the way.

At the same time, however, Lucian must deal with his own long-forgotten personal demons; what can he do when his past begins to catch up to him? Can he protect those closest to him? And more importantly, can he even protect himself?

The answers, perhaps, may lie with his sister's greatest pupil... who may come to be far more than just a friend to him.

Note to readers: This story takes place between season 2 and season 3. Therefore, inconsistencies with season 3 canon may ocasionally occur. Consider it an "Alternate season 3," if you wish.

It's been nine months since Twilight Sparkle got back from her solo sojourn to the Capital Wasteland where she met Ethan Smith, AKA that Crazy Son of a Bitch, AKA the Lone Wanderer and was changed forever. Now with Equestria teetering on the edge of a three way war Ethan is called upon to save Equestria, or at the very least to keep Twilight alive. But dark things are awakening in the background and all is not as it seems, can Ethan save Equestria? Can Twilight keep her friends on her side? Will these questions never stop? The answer to at least one of these is yes but can you find out which?

Twilight Sparkle has disappeared. Not just from the face of Equestria but possibly from the face of her universe itself. Luna has been plagued by nightmares since she was very young, her parents and sister are concerned when no known spell shows any sign of helping the poor filly. Suddenly however, her nightmares seem to vanish and she seems a lot more cheerful. She tells them that her new friend is keeping the nightmares at bay and teaching her new things, but they simply believe that it’s a simple imaginary friend.

But he is very much real in her dreams.

Whenever Luna falls asleep, she wakes up in her dream world where her friend, Crescent, teaches her the ancient ability of protecting the dreams of children as well as a race that has nearly been forgotten.

For his time in this world is coming to an end and Luna, his ‘Little Moon’, is to become the new guardian of dreams.
