Set immediately after the events of Boast Busters, Trixie finds herself in a quandary when she realises that she has left her purse behind in Ponyville. She faces a humiliating walk back into town to pick up her money.
Before she can turn back, however, she meets a magical, sentient pine cone... sigh. Okay. Here's a proposition.

Twilight Sparkles learns a little too much about Fluttershy's personal life. Fluttershy can't stand the embarrassment and becomes frozen in fear. The only way to snap her out of it is for her friends to do some unmentionable things.

A dark coated unicorn with a dark talent called Darkbright Occolt arrives in Ponyville after being exiled from his previous hometown. He is immediately given looks of contempt upon his arrival, however, Twilight Sparkle takes a chance on becoming friends with him. She shows him around Ponyville and is introduced to Twilight's friends. Even after she learns of his dark talent to use his magic to create horrific illusions, she still offers him a friendly gesture. However, her friendly intentions are shaken when Darkbright commits an unforgivable act.

Well her chance comes during the summer when she asks rainbow dash if she could become her flying apprentice. What scootaloo doesnt know, is her training methods. She is forced by rainbow dash to give 110% everyday all day. On top of that she has an abusive foster mother to deal with when she gets home. Can scootaloo survive the torment? Or will she collapse and give up and risk losing recognition from the one she admires most and continue living her life in a sad, lonely, depressive and pitiful state?
