Celestia is sick and tired of having mediocre cups of coffee in Canterlot. The coffee chains they have in the city are a bust, and none of the ponies seem to know how to make anything other than basic, plain old coffee! Maybe she needs to scout out a better franchise and better hired help in order to get a decent cup of joe for a change. Maybe she even needs to search outside of the pony realm to do it.

So of course, when a famous fashion designer's sonogram reveals a foal that looks shockingly bizarre it falls to Bedside Manner to deliver the unpleasant news.

Three nights a week, Shining Armor returns to bed more tired than normal. Annoyed by his complete lack of openness, Princess Cadence goes out of her way to figure out what's going on.

Nobody thinks too much about those toys included in the kiddie meals from fast food resturaunts, just promotional cheap freebies to appeal to the kids. The kids will enjoy the little toy for about a day before ultimately forgetting about them - after all, they are usually just simple playthings built around one gimmick. The journey of these figures generally end with them being forlorn and forgotten, lost in the cracks of life. But these toys wish to be recognized as toys just as much as the bigger, more robust offerings in stores, that dream being rarely ever fulfilled.

Such was the case for one poor Cheerilee, a Happy Meal figure who felt she had lost everything. Her comb accessory long gone, abandoned by her owner in a public place, and every day could bring further physical erosion. Nobody pays much attention to her, the fuschia plastic thing left floating forlorn in the pool, and she's certain it is only a matter of time before she meets her end in the trash. After all, she's worthless, she's served her purpose long ago.

But all she needs is to be shown a little love from somebody who still cares. And it can come from the most unexpected and unusual of sources.

Pinkie Pie has a decent life, all things considered. Working at Sugarcube Corner, throwing parties, saving the world, making friends. She had a pretty good run. But when she comes face to face with the Grim Reaper and her own demise, she definitely doesn't want to let go. So she does the only thing she knows to do to avoid death itself, and challenges him to a game for her life.

But even if she wins, did she really escape death, or is she not out of his grasp yet?
