This story is a sequel to Undead Robot Bug Crusaders

Apple Bloom is an undead ghoul, but that's OK. She's finally come to terms with her condition, and is determined to rise above her curse.

Sweetie Belle is a robot, but that's OK. With manual in hoof, she's prepared to learn everything she can about herself, and whatever the future holds.

Scootaloo is a changeling, but that's OK. Changelings are citizens now, and she's ready to do her part to show the world changelings can be friendly too.

Together, the three of them are getting by, one day at a time. They may never get their cutie marks, but that's not going to stop them from having fun, finding their talents, and maybe even going a week without causing massive amounts of property damage. Maybe.

Meanwhile, Babs Seed is still blissfully unaware of the unusual destiny that awaits her, Diamond Tiara is slowly finding her place in the world, and Ponyville is still the weirdest town in Equestria. But then again, what else is new?

While working late one-night Principal Celestia happens upon a bundled up Sunset Shimmer sleeping in the school library. Realizing the truth of Sunset's living situation she takes her in and lets her sleep in her guest room. As events unfold and with a little bit of help their relationship evolves to one far from that of a teacher and student.

This story is a sequel to Sadness

After "Sadness" events, Sunset is visiting some places in Equestria, while thinking about what happened on the other side of the mirror. And while Twilight tries to figure out how to fix all this mess and the Rainbooms face the consequences of their acting, a fourth party enters the scene.
What will happen? And who's trying to reach out to Sunset?

"They are the 13th Penal Legion, 4th Battalion, 3rd Squad. Almost everybody calls them the 'Last Chancers'. Each of them is a hardened, cold-blooded criminal and killer, undertaking one last mission in the hope of earning their freedom.

Twilight Sparkle returns to the human world following her conversation with Sunset. She's not sure what she's looking for.

Anon-A-Miss reveals themselves to Sunset, but it’s too late. Sunset has already made up her mind, and there's no turning back. It's become clear that nothing remains for her at that school. She never expected any of her old friends to actually care. Why should she?

Sunset had hoped that showing the Rainbooms what she'd written about them would remind them of the good times they'd had and the kind of person she'd become. That if she could just get them to listen they'd realize she would never betray them.

She was partially right. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash believed her, but --with no likely suspects-- Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie were unmoved.

The Rainbooms split. Sunset's group become targets for the students of CHS to vent their frustrations on. And Anon-a-Miss keeps posting.

Yeah, another Anon-a-Miss story. It comes from a lot of things. A lot of it is just trying to answer some, but not all, of the questions posed by Dainn when he wrote his seminal work:

But what if things happened differently?
What if Sunset never figured out who Anon-a-Miss really was?
What if her friends refused to listen after her little chat with Twilight?

What if Sunset's friends did listen but Sunset didn't figure out (and the CMC didn't confess)?

The conversation in the comic is open to interpretation, but it looks to me like Sunset was able to convince Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash of her innocence but failed to convince the other three.

And what happens then? What happens when the guilt of Sunset Shimmer is a split decision? What if things don't die down or escalate but instead drag on into the new year without a clear end in sight? What does Scootaloo do when Rainbow Dash is the one being bullied in the halls?

So many stories put their major point of divergence at the exact same place: Things might differ before that point, but they don't go off the comic's rails until Sunset goes to Sugarcube Corner / The Sweet Shoppe in a last attempt to get the girls to listen to her, and it utterly fails.

This pushes things back just a page and a half, but that little bit of difference will make everything change.

Sunset has had enough. After one last attempt to reason with her friends -- which failed miserably in her face, she ends everything with a literal bang. Unbeknownst to her, her deed would affect Canterlot High School forever. The very next day, the CMC, the true culprits behind Anon-a-Miss, confess and are finally brought to justice. But it's too late to make any amends. And now everyone, completely unable to live with a guilty conscience, falls into a deep depression, not knowing how to move on. Until one day...

Celestia had truly believed she was right in her decision. Too bad belief in being right did not actually make you right.

Author's Note: Before you read this, please be aware that this story runs on the basis that the world reacts in a wildly over-exaggerated way to the idea of Cozy Glow being imprisoned in Tartarus. This is a parody just as much as it is a vent-fic.
