I just published two new-to-FiMFiction stories to my minific collection, Bantam Tales: one's a Carrot Top screenshot joke, and the other is a dark take on ancient Greek beliefs about the afterlife.  So, something for everyone, probably.

The former, It's Either That in the Cart, or a Slightly-Used Crocodile, was originally a little drabble that I cooked up in the comments section of my blog while another commenter and I riffed on our favorite background ponies.  Unlike most of the screencap-drabbles that I inflict upon share with my review-readers, it ended up being a coherent conversation/scene, so I cleaned it up a little and decided to let it join my story collection.  There's not a lot else to say; it's just a hopefully-amusing bit of Carrot Horse goodness.

The latter, To Be Forgotten, was my entry into the most recent writeoff.  The story started out at about 1200 words in my first draft, and had to be cut down to 750 for the event.  I got it down to about 900 without too much trouble (one thing I like about writeoffs: they've shown me that my stories are almost always better when I really take a scalpel to them), but getting it all the way down to the word limit was tough.  But now, it's back to about 900 words, which I think is the right length for what I was trying to do, and hopefully a couple of things that weren't perfectly clear in the writeoff version will read a little more clearly now, without sacrificing the conversation structure.

So... that's it.  Now go read my stories!

You may ask :scootangel:

I found the show the same way a lot of people found it back when I joined (Winter 2011): reaction images and catchphrases were being posted everywhere, even in those corners of the internet to which I oft confined myself.  After a couple of weeks of seeing those images pop up, I got curious enough to give it a look, ended up on 4chan's /co/ board (from whence all things pony sprang, back then), and the rest was history.

As for fanfiction specifically, I'd written fanfic for other fandoms previously (though I hadn't written anything for years, at that point), and the enthusiasm of the early community was infectious.  So I popped open the ol' word processor, and pretty soon remembered why I used to write fanfiction--because I enjoy writing!

>>2442897  If I may ask, what drew you in to Friendship is Magic (when it comes to writing fanfiction)?  What did you think of the show, when you first saw it (if you've seen it, that is)?

>>2445778 Cool, just read it. And honestly, it's very fair. Being a one-shot, I couldn't really develop much lore or backstory, but I still understand your view. That said, I really need to get back to writing my multi-chapter epics. I've already started three and am about to start another, so I've got some work ahead of me.

Anyway, thanks for the review and criticism:twilightsmile:

Hey, I noticed you added my story The Feast to Reviwed. Is there a review I can read? I'd very much like to hear your thoughts
