After being dragged into a Pinkie Pie party, gathering the Elements of Harmony, and facing off against Nightmare Moon, Twilight Sparkle just wants a good nights sleep. Unfortunately for her, she lives in Ponyville, and somepony just crashed into her bedroom. Somepony that looks unusually like her... albeit more stallion-ish.

This stallion, Dusk Shine, claims to be an older version of Twilight, from an alternate universe. How come he's so different? Twilight never graduated from Princess Celestia's tutorage or learned to play the guitar, or... befriended her monstrous, demonic self?

How would you handle waking up one morning on a camping trip to find everything had changed? Your environment seemingly hostile to outsiders, a far cry from the benign forest near your hometown where you went to sleep that night. Though this forest doesn't directly harm you, it feels almost malicious to your presence.

This is the story of Gerald Helfeld, a man who found himself thrown into the foreign land of Equestria, and soon finding that the forest of monstrosities and oddities is the closest thing to home he has, as outside the forest, many natural processes he takes for granted are manually done, even something as unflinching as the rise and set of the Sun and Moon.

As he begins to accept his situation, he learns that magic isn't as impossible as he might have believed, and even discovers a talent of his own through this turn of events. Why did he suddenly end up in Equestria? What is this talent and why does he have it? Let's find out!

Currently I'm intending for this story to occur post-Season 8, though with where I'm at I may change this based on creative choice before it becomes relevant to the story. If references are made that lock the story before or after a given series of events, it is safe to assume that implication will remain true for the future of this story.

Twilight Sparkle has ascended to alicornhood. It's the proudest moment of her life. The happiest moment in Celestia's recent memory. But not all is as it's supposed to be. A second star appears just after her ascension. When it lands an exact copy of Twilight as a unicorn is revealed.

A human goes skydiving for the first time. Unfortunately, his parachute has some difficulties. After a hard landing and a second, slower fall he finally makes it to the ground safely. Now in the form of a purple unicorn he has one question. Does catastrophic brain trauma carry into the next life?

My version of Lauren Faust ending up in Equestria. I probably got her character all wrong. Hey, I never met her, cut me some slack.

So, Lauren Faust is Queen of Equestria in this story. How will she react? How will everypony else react? And what does Pinkie's chimicherrychangas have to do with all of this? One thing is clear already. For Twilight and her friends it won't be the same.

Added AU tag, 'cause someone mentioned it would be safe. And when I think about it, I don't think we ever get to learn who the princesses parents are.

Just a note, this is set during season two. So the events of "A Canterlot Wedding" haven't happened yet.

Almost every brony that has ever been in Fimfiction.net has seen a 'HiE as pony' story.

They usually are fairly predictable, with a few plot twists perhaps, but the general pattern is similar.

A mystical force/accident sends a completely unprepared human into the land of the ponies, and he must then undergo a journey of self discovery/destiny, as a human OR pony.

So what happens when a human is actually prepared with all the knowledge he'd need from the first two seasons of the show? And when Equestria isn't quite as predictable as he hoped?

This is that tale.

Twelve thousand years ago, humanity was driven into a war with an unknown enemy. Fire rained from the heavens and the sky turned dark as the sun dimmed. Acid poured from the clouds and a plague was unleashed upon mankind: A virus that caused men to turn on one another. A disease that forced man to fall to his knees and beg for mercy. A pathogen that ravaged man’s civilization.

And when humanity lost all chances of reconciliation, all hope of keeping their loved ones safe, they pulled the plug, three hundred souls left Earth while sacrificing their only home to the angel of the enemy.

In the twelve millennia since the Great War, all traces of humanity have been wiped from the surface of the Earth. In man’s rightful place now are a multitude of sapient species. For twelve thousand years, these animals have lived in peace and harmony, man reduced to nothing more than but a myth, a folk tale, a legend.

But word has spread across the countryside. Word of forgotten beasts that still walk the western wastelands. Creatures able to bend the world to their will without the help of magic. Creatures said to be older than time itself.

On a visit to the Everfree forest, Fluttershy encounters a creature she has never seen before. It’s tall, it wears clothes and nopony can understand it. Can the ponies of Ponyville make friends with this new creature, even when they do not understand eachother?

Moulded by the harsh environment of a post-apocalyptic Moscow, Artyom was always the man to do what it took to get the job done; anything to protect the Metro and all of those that would rebuild humanity. He destroyed the Dark Ones to protect mankind and the final stand at D6 was no different. Faced between letting the Communists control the entire Metro and destroying the easiest method of sustaining thousands of people, Artyom took the route of sacrifice by killing himself and destroying D6.

So was the end of his journey ... in Moscow. Lost in a new world, Artyom is faced with surviving in a foreign environment. How can a man born in war and violence survive in a land where such are nearly alien concepts? One thing is certain, he must survive for he won't get another chance.
