This is a side story to Second Princess of the Night

Equestria lies in a state of peace, having returned to its comforts after the string of recent incidents, each of them capable of vast destruction in their own right. But the series of threatening events has yet to end, and an evil from the past re-emerges with the darkness it had once walked. With its return, Princess Twilight Sparkle vanishes, a sister perishes, and the traditions of old bloodlines that had been kept secret now reveal themselves.

It is said that a hero is destined to do great deeds, and that through careful guidance and growth, they will topple any foe or evil that stands in their way. The young are often trusted as the bearers of these hopes and ideals, to be a new generation to fight the sins of the past. Yet despite the claims of heritage, or the careful guidance of wise teachers, even the most promising of heroes will still perish. Regardless of whatever books you may have read that said the hopes of the future lie in the youths whose unknown destinies have been thrust into their lives, one simple fact will remain. The good die young.

This is a side story to Second Princess of the Night. Note, some details, scenes, and characters won't be known or will appear confusing if you have not read the linked story.

Sun Petal was a young mare, one full of life and desire to explore the world. But the world isn't as kind as she thought it would be. No, not in the slightest. The world is full of tragic stories, and just like so many, hers is but a bright but brief spark among others. Though her spark is small, however, it is the deciding fate of two ponies. The first being the new Princess of the Night who learns of a terrible price to pay to protect those she loves, and the second being her younger brother who's own fate will be dark but unyielding as he finds his reason to fight.

I used to be a human, but then I pissed off a wizard. Now I'm stuck in "Ponyville", in a land called "Equestria", and with no apparent way back home. I'm also pretty sure that I've just replaced somepony. I'd rather not have to answer any tricky questions, so I'm better off trying to be this unicorn whose name has been forced onto me.

My name is Twilight Sparkle, and I'm not a pony.

[Rated Teen for extensive use of vulgar language and sexual references.]

[Cover art made by richhap on deviant art. Unamused Twilight, go figure.]

[Brybrythesciguy is working on a cool audiobook of this story right HERE. The characters' voices are even simulated with an AI! I definitely recommend giving it a listen!]

A United States Air Force AC-130 is transported to Equestria while in transit through the Bermuda Triangle. Insanity aside, this motley crew of aviators must juggle their duties while treading the uncertain waters of diplomacy.

Disclaimer: I've decided to write this in an attempt to get a more realistic view of what military in Equestria would act like, rather then the dark brooding kill happy stuff I've read. So with that being said, these guys will act more like diplomats. So there won't be much gore, and they certainly won't be going on a killing spree. (Obviously, as fiction the term realistic is applied loosely. My main goal is a realistic characterization of one specific community within the military. Just keep an open mind about how sub-cultures can exist within an entity as large as the U.S. military and you'll be fine.) Also rated teen for obvious reasons, morbid humor, light swearing, and background stories.
