On the day of the Summer Sun Celebration, Nightmare Moon returned from her banishment. The power she had accumulated during her stay on the moon proved to be too great for Princess Celestia, and Equestria's ruler was defeated.

Weeks later, Anon arrived in Equestria via unknown means. Although lost and confused, his natural resistance to magic made him quite useful to Nightmare Moon. To his surprise, he quickly became one of her most trusted servants and found himself falling in love with her. Even more surprisingly, it seemed like she was doing the same.

Eventually, despite Anon's best efforts, Nightmare Moon was defeated and Princess Luna returned. Everyone was rejoicing. Everyone... except him. Because Anon did not fall in love with Princess Luna.

Anon fell in love with Nightmare Moon.

It was two months ago that you and Chrysalis struck a deal. Now, the two of you live together in your Ponyville home, under the condition that you share your love with the ex-queen while she... doesn't do villain stuff. You've grown quite close in that time, but despite getting her to slowly come out of her shell around you, she still refuses to leave the house.

So when you wake up one day to discover that she has contracted some sort of illness, it comes as a bit of a shock. She has apparently never been sick before, and you don't know enough about changelings to help her yourself. It seems like the only solution is to find somecreature who does.

However, the past is not so easily forgotten. How can you get help when the Changeling Kingdom wants nothing to do with her? When the wounds that she caused run so deep that even children bear their scars? When Chrysalis herself is so stubborn, so prideful, that she is unwilling to admit her fault in any of it?

When is a crime too terrible to forgive?

For a human that ended up in an alien world full of talking ponies, you've been living a surprisingly boring life. Sure, you have friends and go on adventures and stuff, but you don't really have a "purpose" per se. At least, you didn't until about a month ago, when a "heinous villain" that had been turned to stone went missing from Canterlot. Now, there's a washed-up queen crashing in your basement and stealing your love.

If only you could get her to admit that she doesn't actually steal it from you.

He smiled slyly at me. "Well, what do you wish for?".
I smiled back, and, slurring my words, answered, "I wish to be a pony in Equestria,".
"Consider it granted," he said. "Just close your eyes,".
"If you say so," I shrugged, and closed them. I felt his finger touch my forehead.

Anon has been in Equestria for 5 years, working under Celestia as a Minister of Foreign Affairs. His tactics were seen as dishonest at best and unethical at worst. But when Celestia leaves suddenly, she names Anon as her temporary replacement to the throne. With internal bickering over whether Anon deserves this position and heightened tension with the Griffons, Anon must choose carefully. Will he become a tyrant or a fair king? And how far will he go to preserve Equestria?

A fully rewritten version of a greentext I wrote back in 2019. Could be a bit dated with tropes that I thought was good writing at the time, but I’m still proud of it.

For the Second Person tag you should note that sections from Anons POV are in first person, everyone else is in second person.

Romance tag is there because of a romance I included that I think was poorly handled, but half the story wouldn’t make sense if I just removed it so I had to keep it in.

Gore and Violence are self explanatory. It’s not there abundantly, but it is there.

Also don’t read the comments if you don’t want spoilers. Story discussion happens in them and that might ruin the reading experience.

A normal end to a normal day -- at least, that's what it was supposed to be.

But it wasn't.

Luna went to raise the moon as usual, but something went wrong. Terribly wrong. She felt it, but she couldn't stop it.

None of us could.

It appeared too suddenly -- acted too quickly.

The only warning we received was a roar and a bright flash of light, then everything was gone. No more Canterlot, no more ponies, no more anything.

Nothing survived.

Nothing... except for us and whatever 'it' is.

We may be immortal beings, but that doesn't make things any better -- if anything, it makes the pain all that much worse. The only thing we can really do now is try to avenge those dear to us. Our subjects... our families... my friends...

Everything.

I don't care how long it takes, and I don't care if it's a pointless battle. All I care about now is making sure we put that thing down for good.

After that?

A thestral awakens in the Everfree forest after being subject to a deep dreadful darkness. Once found, our hero discovers the world is under an eternal night sky, and Nightmare Moon queen of the lands has driven a line amongst the various pony tribes. Now a rebellion looms, and politics are thick with corruption and fear. In a world clad in stars, what hope can there be for the ever waiting dawn?

Or will shadow consume shadows and let darkness reign forevermore. It doesn't always take a hero, sometimes it takes something more.

Blueblood is the Prince of Canterlot, the richest pony in town, and maybe in all of Equestria, and the most eligible bachelor. However, despite how sociable he is, and despite the appearance he wants to give, he is still, despite the years that have passed, devastated by the death of his parents. He still remembered the pony who did it, who didn't hesitate for a moment to kill them with him in front.

After the killer's death, Blueblood turned his hatred on the criminals, deciding to travel the world to better understand them and fight them. After several years of training, and allying himself with some ponies like Fancy Pants, the Canterlot prosecutor, and Time Hooves, who will help him with his team, he will begin his crusade against crime.

The criminals fear neither Celestia nor Luna, and have preyed on the weak at will, devouring the city of Canterlot like a feast, instilling fear and terror into the citizens under cover of darkness. Now, he will be in charge of turning the shadows and himself against him, if they do not fear the princesses, they will fear the figure that will walk the streets... the dark knight... Batmane.
