Purple Haze came to Capra to cover the civil war to find the truth. She found what was left behind.

This story was written by myself and my good friend Buckweiser and is set in the world of Captain Hoers' webcomic The Sunjackers. No prior knowledge of the comic is required but I recommend reading it (because it's brilliant).

Being an element of harmony is not as glamourous as some think. When a disease rampaged Equestria, Rarity was one of the ponies that had to be on the front lines to help save the world with her friends. Unfortunately she was one of the many ponies that got sick. Since then she hasn't been able to sleep. Despite how poor her sleep has been, she's still managing to keep her life barely together.

Lavender Staar spends her days trying to find a good job but hasn't had much luck yet. Fortunately, she gets called to Canterlot Castle for a job interview by Princess Celestia along with others to work as a janitor. It's not much, but it would help Lavender feed herself. The castle and the land surrounding it feel...off, however.

As the royal family grows, so does Princess Luna's happiness. She is exceptionally close to her granddaughter, Princess Edelweiss, partly because the young alicorn bears a striking resemblance to Luna’s very old friend.

Uniquely sensitive, shy, kind, and gentle, Edelweiss, nicknamed Della by her family, is rarely seen in public, preferring the company of woodland creatures over other ponies. Fluttershy becomes Della’s mentor, teaching the gifted alicorn how to best use her talents and recognizing a kindred spirit in the process.

In the thirty-third century, ponies regularly travel to other stars using spaceships equipped with artificial intelligence. These “Spaceplones” look like mechanical ponies with engines and wings, and their friendship-capable artificial intelligence keep the pilots company and enable travel at superluminal speeds using the Friendship Drive.

While ponies can change their profession more easily, to a spaceplone, the purpose they were built for is part of their identity. Multi-role designs exist, but most ships are constructed for very specific purposes.

However, when ponies designed the computer architecture for the artificial mind of the spaceships, they used the minds they were familiar with as a template and ships can experience many aspects of the equine condition much in the same way ponies do.

Ever since she was little, Fluttershy was always scared to talk to others. Now, on her first night after moving into ponyville, the young pegasus found it difficult to get a wink of sleep.

As luck would have it though, she would happen to find a kindred spirit in the woods near her home. One that would introduce her to new friends and new possibilities

A dancer becomes more lithe. Legs toned and steps light. A boxer might become a solid wall. Some professions change us in some way, some more obvious than others.

When they do, you can feel like you've lost control of yourself, your future, and the expectations of those around you.

Twilight's a powerful unicorn. Her practice and study in spell and the magic arts has molded her body into one more capable in that art. She never expected following her passion would have some obvious consequences.

She does not handle it well.

Story contains implied self harm.

Friends aware of her problem help with her immediate needs, but they find themselves feeling helpless for something more long term. Rarity and Fluttershy contemplate Twilight's more invisible needs in this story.

Author's Note: I wrote this years ago.
But I never published it until today. Many reasons for that, many of them related to poor mental health and low self worth. The only way I could publish this now is by just submitting it without a final reading. Please keep in mind this is myself from a time five years or more ago.

I commissioned artwork for it from a friend, but they ended up dropping off the map before they finished it. I contemplated not sharing it in it's unfinished state. I decided that, much like the story, it's better to be seen than to be squirreled away into obscurity.
