Now the ponies have to deal with not only him, but a depressed snarky ex-Scribe and a Brotherhood Ghoul with her own list of incredible achievements and emotional baggage.
However, things aren't well in Equestria, as they quickly find out...

All major details relating to Season 3 are non-canon to this fic.

Spike and Spitfire, one a dragon and the other a Wonderbolt, were unknowingly brought together by a day neither wish to remember in the slightest; Spike nearly levelled the town he loved and called home, while Spitfire witnessed the true might and fury of a dragon, and nearly lost close friends and team mates in the process.

Needless to say, the experience left them both with their own mental and emotional scars, scars which show no sign of healing quickly nor easily.

So when nightmares, guilt, and perhaps a slight twist of fate (courtesy of some annoyingly persistent friends trying to help) brings the two together again, and a potential chance to make peace and move on arises to each through the other, both decide it's at least worth a shot.

But, as is sometimes the case, even the best laid plans can have unexpected results.

It has been several months since the disappearance of Twilight Sparkle..

War has divided Equestria into two factions fighting for total control. The established Solar Empire with the full force of the Solar Armed Forces commanded by Princess Celestia herself, aiming to regain stability and lead Equestria into it's next great leap forward. The newly founded New Lunar Republic fighting for total freedom from their perceived oppression, led by the night princess. In the middle of this conflict, one stallion fulfills his goal of joining the Solar Army Air Corps to live a life of fame and glory as an aviator. At least, that is what Bright Eyes believes. However, warfare is much more chaotic and morally ambiguous than he had ever realized. Will Bright Eyes be able to withstand the impact of his choices? That remains to be seen, for the war ain't no place, for no hero.

It's been five years since the Rainbow Factory was shut down by Princess Celestia, and what information was released to the public, was heavily censored. The factory had been abandoned and, with specific instructions from Princess Celestia, still loomed over Cloudsdale. You are currently undergoing your first year in flight school. Your father had worked at the weather factory before it shut down but after it was condemned, you never heard from him again.
Today at school, your history class discussed the factory in as much detail as was permitted. However, today's lesson gave your classmates an idea.
