Having settled down in a small coastal town, Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow now live together. They might not be family, but they were certainly more than friends. Having been given a chance at redemption, the three decided to leave their past behind.

But sometimes the past has a bad habit of seeking you out.

One sunny day a purple princess comes seeking them out. She brings mementos of the past, but more importantly, memories Cozy Glow wished she'd never have to relive.

It's been many years since Twilight took the throne as Equestria's sole ruler. Running a country is hard, especially now, but she has little choice in the matter. The trip to the wasteland was required though, her friend went not too long ago in order to investigate.

Hopefully she'll reunite with them so they can go back to taking care of Equestria, after all, who else will?

Oh, golly! So, six months ago, I became the Supreme Empress of Friendship in all of Equestria, right? Yeah, I dethroned the existing princesses and imprisoned the Mane Six in Tartarus... But later, I found this Guardian Amethyst thingy and that transformed me into an alicorn! And then, for four long months, I was the only pony with magick... I saw how they all looked at me... I just knew they weren't happy and well, I can't really explain it, but something inside me kinda just broke?

And then three months ago, I decided that I needed a new assistant! Now, I needed somepony knowledgeable on what the other ponies want and need... And so, after talking with her about parole and freedoms, I released and employed Twilight Sparkle! Her friends must remain locked up for the time being as there's simply too many of them...

And then there was yesterday, when I decided to open the vortex again and allow magick to stream back into Equestria... I saw how happy that seemed to make everypony. I went to bed shortly thereafter and later woke up. I just had breakfast and was meeting with my assistant later that morning...

This story is a sequel to To Reform a Queen

Equestria has been about to lose all its magic. However, the light wins once again, and now Twilight is thinking about what to do. The filly in front of them understands what Friendship means; it's just the way she uses it.

Maybe, with a bit of help, she can get another chance...

This is a sequel to both My Boyfriend Pip, and A Different Kind of Ending. The two stories share continuity with this story.

Twilight Sparkle has been put in charge of watching over Cozy Glow, who now permanently possesses the power of Grogar's magic. Twilight is determined to prove that there is no foe irredeemable, so she decides to show Cozy the wonders of magic, and offers her a chance to show off her magical prowess. However, so much time has passed since Cozy was a regular member of society, that reintegrating into the normal life might prove challenging, and may not be possible. At least not without the help of somepony who's gone through something similar. Meanwhile, Twilight must come to terms with her new role as Princess Celestia and Princess Luna's successor.

After Twilight is crowned the ruler of Equestria, she feels sorry for Cozy Glow being petrified, as she is just a filly. Feeling sorry for the foal's fate, Twilight decides to release her from the statue prison. But after doing so, Twilight realizes that Cozy is no longer that megalomaniacal filly from before, but just a filly that is emotionally unstable. Cozy reveals something to Twilight about her. Twilight then realizes that she will have to play an important role in Cozy Glow's life.
