This story is a sequel to The Wrong Mare

The world is aflame and broken. In the Crystal Empire, Rarity tries to ensure her part of the world is less broken than the world outside it, starting with finally taking proper care of the little filly that's supposed to rule it one day. But between the Empress Nightmare Moon's plans for Equus, the damage of Sombra's short but brutal second reign, the danger of the Changeling Hegemony on the western border, and her own personal problems, it's going to be a lot of things, but not easy.

Important: this takes place in the Equestria At War universe. Rated Teen for sadness, the consequences of war and a deranged tyrant ruling over a nation for a good two and half years, a four-year old orphan and all that entails, crude humour, and possibly more to be added in the future.

One year ago, the immortal moon lich died.

One year ago, Twilight Sparkle the so-called human moved to Ponyville.

Rarity never believed that, of course. The "human" bit. After all, no human would willingly choose to live in a town of monsters, and no amount of magic or hunting orders or Plans with a capital "P" would ever change her mind on that—especially when said human was so constantly collected and calm.

But... if she wasn't human, what kind of monster could she be?

Rarity has deep and overwhelming feelings for Twilight, yet she can't speak the words that would convey these feelings to her beloved. I don't exactly expect to win anything with this, since I've written it over the course of like 2 days with zero pre-planning and going entirely by the seat of my pants because nothing bad could ever happen like that right? Constructive feedback is welcomed and appreciated... Please be gentle.

Twilight has had to deal with quite a few peeved unicorns lately. Haughty magicians, angry teenagers, scorned savants, the list goes on. You'd think she would be used to it by now, but this time she's faced with something far more threatening, and far more unexpected...a drunk Rarity.

Starlight had to admit, it was going to happen eventually.

Rarity had finally rejected Spike, and the poor dragon was finally experiencing his first heartbreak. With Twilight busy doing princess stuff, Starlight knew she had to be there for her friend.

You ended up in Equestria about two years ago, and in that time, you've become quite close with a number of ponies. Of them, Rarity in particular has left a major impression on you. She seems to enjoy having you around, and you appreciate the company.

That said, there is one major roadblock getting in the way of your relationship. More than anypony you know, Rarity is extremely concerned with keeping up appearances. As a fashion designer and all-around fabulous mare, she frequently wants your opinion on how she looks.

Unfortunately for you, you're a human with no way of telling what makes a pony "beautiful."
