Nothing special here, move along, nothing to see, just ignore the lump under the sheet and the red stuff...

Once upon a time there was a very lazy dragon who did not want to find a town to pillage.

So he decided to make one of his own.

First comment for the author: PaulAsaran inspired this one in a note on More Precious Than Silver or Gold by commenting on how the dragon there was talking about growing a village like one might plant seeds. I made a note that said, “Now I'm going to have to write a story someday about a lazy dragon who doesn't want to fly around looking for a town to plunder, so he decides to become a farmer, and 'plant' one.”

Ta-da! It’s done! I may come up with other G-rated kids stories as I think of them, and I'll link them here. For example, I’m doodling with The Monster Over the Bed, about a little monster who finds the perfect place to stay, except for a loud giant who lives on her roof.

Aw, that was cute.

This is just adorable. Lovely idea, and executed very well, the tone is just right for this type of childrens' story.

I loved this, it's just so cute.

is there a Foals' Tales group? If not, we probably need one. Starting with this and Gobbling and Other Traditional Pursuits

Why is this not complete? Sequels? I would love to read more about this universe!

The title uses "stories," plural. So I assume Georg will post them as new chapters here instead of independently.

8467983 8468040 No sequels of this, but in the same vein as The Grimm Brothers (with less bloodshed) I plan on writing more children's stories -- bedtime ones if I can -- that will go in here. Writing kids stories is *difficult* for the wordcount and context. Finding MLP kids fanfic stories that you can read to your kids is even more difficult.

is... is that starswirl??

8468043
you realize how ironic and sad that is? it's a kids show, and you can't find kid friendly fanfics of it so easily

canon!

CANON!!!

CANON!!!!!

So, not mother goose, but father Georg? I like it. A whole unified universe of fairy tales... well, pony tales, I suppose.

8468092 Naaa, Uncle Bad Horse has that pegged with his Bad Horse's Bedtime Stories for Impressionable Young Colts and Fillies

You gots to watch out when youse tells the little crumb crunchers bedtime stories. Youse never knows when one of dem is wearing a wire.

god this was great

lovely little fic right here, I kinda like this kind of thing but its too bad we don't see more of it

This was adorable. And everyone can relate to Lazy as well. We all want to sleep just five more minutes in the morning.

This was a wonderful read. You really got the narrative tone for this sort of stories down pat -- it really felt like reading a real-life fairytale.

A lovely fairy tale. The moral of the story is clearly "being properly lazy is hard work," something I think we can all agree on. Thank you for this.

Very clever, old pony in the hat with bells on it.

Awesome little tale, great work.

So, I guess I'm thinking what everyone else is right now... old pony is Starswirl, princess is Celestia, village is in the everfree before it became wild and it was either the dragon that Fluttershy scared away or the dragon that Spike accidentally found is Lazy or one of his brothers.

Simply magnificent:heart:

Their leader, a snowy white mare with a long, violet mane looked up at Lazy and said, “I am Princess Peridot, leader of the unicorns.

I thought she might be short and green, with a Dorito shaped head.

This is truly hilarious.

I approve of lazy dragons.

Lazy, Builder of Random Villages, Hero of the Wild

S tier classical fairytale.

Why are your stories always so irreverent and AWESOME? Is there some kind of fountain of whimsical childhood fancy that is fed by a river of ironic, concentrated mountain meltwater you're privy to?

Wonderful. All the way back to Green Grass, wonderful.

Awww, that was sweet. Lazy was the least lazy lazy dragon ever. And also the most inadvertently adorable. Two thumbs up!

Wow. This could be a published children's story.

8468479 Provided Hasbro doesn't throw a shoe. I did try my best to avoid any copyright lines. For all of you rich publishers out there, send those checks and money orders to Georg, care of...
8468424 I think it's because the writer (me) is also childish and immature.
8468301 Hey, I like the alliterative appeal of Peridot, even before Stevens Universe. Twinkle Twinkle, Speaker to Dragons has a character named Periodot in it.
8468280 8468220 handwaved the actual characters pretty much, except I wanted to imply Starswirl without actually using his name.
8468200 It can take a *lot* of work to be properly lazy. Far too many people think lazy is something you can do by just not doing anything, but you have to do twice as much work afterwards. Far better to plan ahead.

8468519
If all else fails, replace all mention of "ponies" with their relative human counterparts.

I feel like this is going to be one of the greatest stories ever published on FIMFiction.

8468526 um.... Pegasi?

Aw, this was really pleasant to read! Such a cute little tale

That was an absolutely fun read and I enjoyed every moment of it. :pinkiehappy:

Taking tea with the dragon in the forest cave always makes me confuse them with the one in Disneys Gummi Bears.:trollestia:

This is just as cute and pure the second time.
Should it be marked incomplete or will the be another, fluffy chapter?

Ytak #40 · Oct 6th, 2017 · · ·

This seems like a bedtime story Twilight might've read to Spike when he was really little.

Ok, you have captured how a child story should be written and in a way that I’m so loving it! The balance in writing, characters and other things that writing simple fairly tales is very impressive and now I want an actual picture of this.

Bravo man!

So he set off to find a village to pillage. Something close, with no armored knights to fight, or castle walls to climb.

He could have flown over the castle walls, of course, but Lazy was lazy. Besides, his wings ached.

Loved this story! Lazy is gonna be made into an NPC in my next Fantasy setting RPG I run. :trollestia:

Loved this story. It's so cute. And do I detect a moral to this story?

8467971
You got me thinking, and so I am searching for a group

Omg, this was too cute. Perfect bedtime story material, if I do say so myself; although, since I cannot recall for the life of me if I have ever had a bedtime story read to me, I realize that I might not be the best judge, here.

Lazy is Best Dragon :yay:

8468043
How come the tag says incomplete?

8469157

"And Other Stories".

Oh it’s so darling!

Love this show!

This is a fun story! I can't wait to see what others there are.
