Exhausted from a long train ride, Twilight Sparkle did something she thought she'd never have the courage to do. She told Rarity she liked mares and that she had a crush on one specific mare. The admission that Rarity was the target of her affection just slipped out and Twilight was absolutely certain she had destroyed her friendship.

Instead the impossible became reality when Rarity offered Twilight Sparkle a chance even though she has never been attracted to mares. Can a relationship that seems like an impossible dream survive the trials brought on by reality?

Much time has passed. Months, since Vinyl and Octavia were forcefully separated from each other. They don't know where the other is. They don't know how they feel. And yet they still can't get one another out of their minds. Across a city, with who knows what between them, can two ponies truly in love find one another?

The Spring Dance is an event held every year in Ponyville, heralding the coming of spring after Winter Wrap Up. Many new relationships are formed at the dance, and Twilight hopes to form one as well, the only problem being she couldn't dance if Equestria depended on it. Luckily for her, Rainbow Dash oversees her struggles and lets her in on a secret that just may save her, if she can convince Rainbow to help. As a result, the two may grow closer than either could have anticipated or hoped for.

Sweetie Belle discovers an amateur novel lying abandoned on the ground. The mysterious story soon becomes all the rage with everypony.

And then Rarity hears a passage of it being read out loud...

Applejack realizes one morning that Rainbow Dash has apparently moved in with her. This discovery surprises Dash more than a little, too, and sets off a chain of events neither could have imagined.

The original minific version of this story came in fifth in the Dec. 2015 Writeoff Association contest, "Things Left Unsaid." And the full, three-chapter-and-an-epilogue version won 3rd place in The Fourth AppleDash Contest: A Little Twist of Lemon using the categories "A Life-Changing Event" and "An Important or Memorable Date."

Twilight has long nursed a crush on her quiet yellow friend. When Fluttershy's magic builds to dangerous levels, Twilight steps forward to nurse her sick friend back to health, struggling to keep her complicated feelings under control.
