This story is heavily inspired by my love of Dawnfade's Vinyl and Octavia: University Days and my endearing love of Japanese yuri manga.

I had a decent life after the Fall Formal and the Battle of the Bands. Then some stupid Lifeinvader account ruined everything. It only took one post for everyone to be whispering about who it was, two for the school to blame me, three for my friends to abandon me. If only I knew I was going to form an uneasy alliance with some girls I once called enemies. But at least they believe I'm innocent.

As a filly, Vinyl listened to Octavia Melody on the radio. As a mare, Vinyl goes to meet Octavia in person. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Much has changed for her since then, she fell in love with an Orange, moved away from her sister and mother, and hasn't even seen a live apple tree aside from the one in the Neigh York Botanical Gardens in over 20 years. She doesn't even have her old name anymore. Can the business savvy city socialite find a way to fit in with her dirt loving farm raised cousins?

Octavia Melody and Vinyl Scratch have been dating Sunset Shimmer for a while now. While they've known from the start that Sunset happens to be a unicorn from another world, they're finally going to get the chance to see that (and, hopefully, truly understand it) when Sunset takes them to Equestria over vacation.

All that follows is meta stuff that can safely be ignored unless you happen to be interested in it.

This was originally conceived as an entry for Oroboro's Sunset Shipping Contest: Journeys. I knew that I wouldn't finish it on time, but pretending that I was totally going to win if I entered --and therefore absolutely needed to finish before the deadline-- did allow me to actually write something in spite of my depression. (Sometimes silly solutions can achieve limited success.)

Much of what I produced wasn't particularly good, the prologue being the exception (at least I think it's pretty good), so I took it down for desperately needed revision. I thought that I had enough momentum to finish the revision before my depression fully reasserted itself.

That was over seven months ago, not even one of the chapters in question has been revised. So, obviously, that didn't work out the way I had hoped or expected.

This isn't on hiatus, but it is on "the author's clinical depression fuels her writer's block" which may be worse.

The Element of Magic, Octavia Melody, needs help to defeat a monster that threatens all of Equestria. When only one of her friends can be there, she turns outside to bring others to her aid.

Fate (and the guidance of the Princesses) brings her the assistance of virtuoso cellist Twilight Sparkle and her wubtastic marefriend, DJ Rar-👁-T.

Of course, Princess tasks are rarely without their own unspoken machinations...
