Celestia and Sunset's fights were getting out of control so with that in mind both decided to take a break from their mentor/student relationship.

With a lot of time at Sunset's disposition Celestia offers the unicorn a change of pace and perspective and shows her the portal mirror, but this time instead of the Equestria Girls world being at the other side instead Sunset finds a world where magic hids behind secrets and spells.

Accepting the chance to study at the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Sunset will find herself in the middle of a war between good and evil; will a unicorn that hasn't been touched by harmony be capable of fighting the addictive power of dark magic or will she become a pillar for Harry and his friends?

What is known is that Hogwarts and the english wizard world are not prepared for the craziness and shenanigans of Sunset Shimmer.

When Rainbow dash takes in an injured stranger, she gets far more than she bargained for. With a vampony running from his past living in her house, life gets weird for her. And maybe just a little romantic. Or a lot.

A young colt named Blazing Blitz loves to play duel monsters goes to Ponyville to asks the main 6 to help him figure out the secrets of his Millennium puzzle. But his older sister gets kidnapped and a pony named Dueling Striker and he forces Blaze to go to his tournament to save his sister.

Ten years after Mario's very first adventure in Super Mario Brothers Peach is kidnapped by Bowser. Again. Bowser plans to marry Peach, whether she wants to or not. Mario, after a failed attempt at saving her, meets Cappy, a magical hat, in the village of Bonneton. After going to several kingdoms, Mario and Cappy almost reach Bowser's kingdom, only for Bowser to outwit them by turning loose a magical dragon to attack them. A dragon which uses its fire at exactly the same time as an alicorn named Twilight Sparkle uses a teleporting spell. The Odyssey ends up getting sucked through a wormhole, and crash lands in Equestria, where Mario and Cappy try to make friends with the six main ponies and the other ponies. At the same time, they know the clock is ticking, and it's only a matter of time before Bower and Peach weds, and every kingdom falls under Bowser's rule. It's up to Mario, Cappy, and the six ponies to stop him, or the world they know will be demolished.

Ah, you have probably heard of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic, well, I have, anyway. And if you've heard about it and have a firm grasp of knowledge on it, you've probably known of Twilight Sparkle, born a unicorn and discovered the magic of friendship and eventually became an alicorn.

But what if she was already born an alicorn, and to shake things up further, she's born as an anthropomorphic version of herself. Now, come on with us as we go onto this wild heck of ride of a story.

Hey, author's notes here. Twilight is the only pony changed into an anthropomorphic version of herself, the rest are just in their default selves. And yes, she's born an alicorn in this story, and no, Equestria Girls will never happen.

Afer being hit by the Elements of Harmony, Sunset Shimmer finally understood just how evil she had been, and wishes for nothing more than to make up for it, and seek out forgiveness as Twilight told her.

The next morning she wakes up a week before she went through the portal to steal the crown, 10 days before the Fall Formal, and decides to try and right some wrongs she has committed among CHS before she leaves for Equestria.

Sunset Shimmer's entire world collapsed overnight. It did it without her even noticing. Upon finding out she has no idea why, and neither she nor Princess Twilight can figure out how it's even possible.

All she knows is that when she met her friends the day after, they weren't her friends. When she meets other students they still hate and fear her. When she tries to remind people that she's changed, they don't remember any of it, but they do remember all of the bad things with crystal clear quality.

Everything she regrets --from being a bully, to being a monster, to yelling at Twilight during the Friendship Games-- remains. Everything she's proud of is gone. With the entire world convinced the truth is a lie, no friends amoung humans, and time running out, Sunset races to understand, and hopefully fix, whatever has happened.

Meta Notes:

When A Friendship to Remember came out I remember being extremely underwhelmed. This is my attempt at taking the basic story and making it whelming.

Well, most of it. You see, most of the book (Chapters 3 to 23 of 23) is the official prose version of Forgotten Friendship, and that is the story here. I feel like the story, at its core, has some real potential, but it did not live up to that potential.

This is a straight up retelling, that means that while it is AU it isn't divergent. More . . . parallel. It doesn't spin off in a different direction, it just tells the same core story with different execution and details.
