//------------------------------// // Arrival at Ponyville // Story: Twilight the Anthro // by Cipher800 //------------------------------// June 20, 1000 ANM "Once upon a time, in a magical land known as Equestria, there lived two regal sisters who ruled together and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her magical abilities to raise the sun at dawn while the younger brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects: all the different tribes of ponies. But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth, but slept through her beautiful night. One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had left her vulnerable to the Nightmare, a powerful dark spirit that burrowed into her head, transforming her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon, whom vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal night. Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: The Elements of Harmony! But alas, she can't break her sister free from the Nightmare Force's hold, and was forced to banish her to the moon. For generations, the elder sister ruled alone, maintaining the harmony that was held so long ago." "Hmmm, the Elements of Harmony, I know I have heard of those before, I just don't know where." an anthropomorphic alicorn said as she got up and closed the book in her hands, sitting down on the bed, finishing off the book she was assigned to read. Twilight has grown to be quite the woman over her life, and though she was still a fourteen and a half year old filly she still had to wear a bra. As a matter of fact, she was in her red underwear. "Hey, Twi, what are you reading?" "Stay back!" Twilight said as she jumped to her feet, her face as red as a tomato, only to see it was her assistant and adoptive brother. "Oh, it's just you, Spike. Princess Celestia assigned me to read these old pony tales. Why would the Princess, out of anybody, pony or not, want me to read fairy tales." Twilight said as her reptilian friends jumped up right beside her, using her wing as his pillow, but the anthropomorphic alicorn didn't mind, she liked his company. "Maybe she wants you to learn something from this?" Spike said as he looked up into the sky as if the ceiling wasn't there. "She normally doesn't give me those, unless something bad is coming! I have to do this quickly!" Twilight said in realization. She raced to her desk, grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and began writing. "My dearest teacher, my continuing studies of pony magic have led me to believe that something bad is coming. I've come to believe that we are on the brink of disaster. For you see, the mythical Mare in the Moon is in fact Nightmare Moon, and she's about to go back to Equestria and shroud it in eternal night! Signed by your student, Twilight Kira Sparkle." Twilight said out loud as she wrote the letter. Twilight Sparkle still couldn't find out why she can't use magic, not even Celestia can find out. Sure, there was that one time, but it only showed that she had magic, but it was merely dormant and refused to come out. So, she used her hands instead, but didn't feel the need to use it, but then again, she did. "Here, it's important to tell the Princess right away!" Twilight said as she shoved the letter in Spike's chest. "Okay, okay. Sheesh, Twilight, you don't need to be in such a rush." Spike said as he enveloped the letter in green fire, turning it into smoke that soon came out the window. "There it is, on it's way." Spike said as he went towards Twilight. "Before you say anything, I want you to know that the Princess trusts me completely. Though I cannot use magic, she has never doubted me in all my years as her student, not even once." Twilight said as Spike belched out some smoke and green gas, which reshaped into a letter which he caught in his claws. "You see, I know she would take immediate action!" Twilight said as Spike began to read. "My dear Twilight, there is more to life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations of the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location: Ponyville! I'm also doing this for an even more essential reason, that is for you to make friends." "Oh really, well why would I need to make friends in Ponyville?" Twilight huffed. "Listen, Twilight. The Princess is doing this for a reason. You've been a shut-in ever since way back when. The last time that you have contacted Moondancer was a year ago, and you didn't even say goodbye! But on the bright side, Celestia gave you a library to live in during your time Ponyville." Spike said. "Fine, you win, Spike." Twilight said as she got dressed in a simple tank top, some jeans, and a pair of boots. She and Spike packed up their belongings and went onto a golden carriage carried by two pegasi, who flew off. There's no turning back now. The ride has ended as the carriage descended to the ground, but Twilight's face continued to remain red. How will those ponies "Thank you sirs." Twilight said as the two pegasi went back to Canterlot. Twilight's face reddened even more as she on what the outcome would be. The nobles at Canterlot just put their snouts up and ignored her, they were always so snooty and uptight, always ignoring everyone, especially her, which led her to shut herself in. A pink pony was hopping along when she saw the two. She gasped and ran off like she was going to tell people about her. "Huh? That was a new response. Usually, they just ignore me and act like I don't exist." Twilight said. "First off, we need to see how food is doing. Let's head straight to Sweet Apple Acres." Spike said as he and Twilight headed toward a nice-looking farm at the edge of the town, where she met an orange earth pony with a blond mane bucking some trees, causing the apples above to fall down. "Alright, let's see how they'd react. Good afternoon, my name is Twilight Sparkle, who are you?" Twilight said as the earth pony grabbed her hand and shook it. "Well good afternoon to you too. Ah'm Applejack, and we'd love ta get a new acquaintance. What can ah get for 'ya." Applejack said. "Well, I've been sent by the Princess to, wait? Why aren't you even the slightest bit of feeling about my appearance. You are talking to me as it I was a normal pony." Twilight said. "Oh, we Apples don't judge others by appearances, now what is ya wanted?" Applejack said. "I'm here for supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, and I was wondering, how are you doing with the food? You are in charge of the food, aren't you?" "Oh, yes we are. We're doing wonderful, it's been quite a bountiful harvest. Now while you are here, why not let me introduce you to mah family." Applejack said. "But I'm in a-" "Now, hush, sugarcube. Come on, sit down. This here's Apple Fritter, Red Gala, Golden Delicous..." Twilight wasn't having a good day. She was trapped in the barn, held hostage by a crazy farmer who kept saying the names of her family members and wasting time. "...Big McIntosh, Applebloom, and Granny Smith. Up and 'addem, we've got guests." "Welp, soup's on everypony. Ah'm up here, ah'm coming." Granny Smith said. "Well ah say ya are already a member of ta family by heart." Applejack said. "Thanks, but no thanks. I've got to be on-" Twilight was about to finish her sentence before she felt a growling feel in her stomach. "On second thought, I feel like eating for brunch."
