I feel like this story doesn't need much of a description. After DJ Valkyri-3 I wanted to write more cutesy romance and see if I couldn't squirm my way back into ponified. Saw the picture and, well, this happened.
Also, I never really see Twilestia from Celestia's point of view. It's always form Twilight's or an omniscient view so I thought I'd try it out. Turns out it's really fun to write!

This story is a sequel to Opening Twilight's Heart

Princess Celestia has never been fond of decorum. The pedestal she is placed upon always seemed more prison than palace to her. But it was safe. It helped her subjects. It was her place in that one beautiful constant, Equestria. And so the matter was decided. But when Twilight convinces her that the kingdom's defense requires her to leave her dusty old throne and make friends, Celestia must try to balance her duties

There's one problem, though: Any bonds Celestia makes will have to last an eternity. An eternity the friends she makes them with will not have.

Can Twilight bridge the gap between the old mare's heart and the world outside her palace?

Celestia is feeling down and Luna recognises that what she needs is a bit of romance to bring a little sparkle into her life.

Could this be the dawning of a closer relationship between Twilight and the Sun Princess?

Princess Celestia. The Unconquered Sun. The Day and Dawn of Equestria. The Commander of Light and Flame.

Currently, terrified out of her wits. A single piece of parchment lies before her, ready to receive the words that she has longed to speak for two years. This letter could change everything, could end her loneliness, could grant her the love she's always hoped to find.

Or it could destroy everything, terrify and alienate her student, and render the relationship they have to so much ash.

Celestia loves Twilight, and she’s not afraid to show it. Or rather, she would show it, but she can’t. Twilight isn’t ready yet. She’s scared to tell anyone about their relationship. Celestia doesn't mind waiting. She’s a patient mare.

Twilight Sparkle wants to reestablish her old rapport with Princess Celestia - the close relationship they had when Twilight was the Princess’s personal student. But life moves ever onward and the connections they had in the past will not be enough for the alicorns to overcome the challenges that lie ahead. To make it through their shared trials and revelations, Twilight and Celestia will need to grow beyond their existing bonds and become much more than faithful student and immortal mentor.

Ponies have asked Princess Celestia one question above all others over the generations. It has taken many forms, many directions, but the true question is always the same. "What does a Goddess fear?" It is not a question any of them expect to truly be answered, and none thus far have understood her answer.

She is Princess Celestia Arc De La Equestria, The Undimmed Monarch of Equestria, and she only fears three things.

She fears each day for the safety and happiness of her little ponies. She fears for the loss of those she loves, consumed by time's eternal march. Most of all, she fears a small purple unicorn. Brilliant as her own sun, curious, inquisitive, and bearing a charisma to rise all Equestria to her side. A mare that Celestia fears accepting as much if not more than denying. A mare that was standing outside the door to Celestia's private chambers, with a question upon her lips that could topple an empire.

This story takes place in the down time between season 1 and 2. As such Twilight Sparkle is not yet an alicorn and has only been living in ponyville for roughly a year.
